FA W FA Cup Semi-Final

Everton 1:2 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Sat, 23 April 2016

Fans saying LVG embarrassing the club in the post match interview are the real disgrace. We have just won the FA semi with many big decisions against us. And many fans were complaining he doesn't show passion.

People praise Mourinho and Fergie when they spoke out against the refs but LVG is disgraceful.

If you can't enjoy this win, then get the feck out. Enough negativity you miserable cnuts.

Great performance. Would have been undeserved to not go through. One of the bright performances of a stop, start season.

First time this season it felt like it was Manchester United I was watching. Super entertaining game and a perfect ending.

So very happy. I mean...FA Cup final..ok, rival fans will say..hey, are you pleased with that. Actually yes after what we have been through for two years. Go win it, put our name on the cup again after such a long absence and give us something back. What really made me happy, was that it was such a great game and Everton played their part to. That is what football is about...win or lose.

Fantastic game. We deserved the win. It was exciting. Do people really want Lukaku here? He's so clumsy.

I don't. He's overrated. Makes his mind up too slowly. Wastes a lot of time and momentum because he's too busy indulging himself in needless physical hold up play.

On the game itself, Martial is something special. He really is. We need to surround him with a proper team in the coming years. Rashford was very good, as was Lingaard for a few occasions in the first half.

Get in. We were almost robbed. Penalty that never was for them, though fortunately they didn't capitalise, but it gave them all the momentum. Penalty that should have been for us, which also should have been a red for Jagielka. Would have been shite to go out like that. Martial was magic throughout.

We worryingly ran out of steam though. Carrick was done after 50 minutes. Rojo was garbage throughout. TFM started strong but looked rattled after half time. Rooney same, his passing got sloppier in the 2nd half, but he was decent overall.

Smalling's day will be summed up by the OG but he was very good for the majority of the game. Just a stupid reaction to lead with his right foot.

For once, I thought the Fellaini sub was the wrong one. He was having a great game.

Celebrated the winner more than any other goal I can remember in the last 3 years.

Mostly agree but the Herrera sub was sensible as he wanted someone who could pass and hold the ball better in extra time. The Everton midfield was pressing really hard and had success (we were totally on the back foot second half). Carrick disappeared and Rooney was tiring. I do agree with you particularly re Rojo. Had high hopes for him when he first got here but he is simply a space filler.

Agreed 100%

We probably have some desperately unhappy fans tonight

I'm not LVGs biggest fan, but he was spot on with his comments on the ref. They had offered very little until a very dubious penalty and then ignoring Jagielka great save.

After this crap season an FA cup will be a much needed balm. But please LVG go thereafter (that's my opinion at least).

So true.

Doesn't matter if the ref or linesman should have seen that or not. Jagielka saved a goal with his hand.
Regardless, Everton played very well in the second half and helped make it a very good semi-final. Chances are that was the final nail in the coffin for Martinez though.

De Gea is the best keeper in the world. He read that penalty brilliantly.

Get in. Really want the FA Cup after such a long time.

Would have been disappointed if we hadn't won as thought that we let them back in to it on the back of Everton-inspiring refereeing decisions. Tony Henry MoM - was a constant treat. One of Fellaini's best games for United. Good substitution from LvG to bring on the legs of Herrera and it directly contributed to the winner.

So happy to be in an FA Cup final again. Martial is brilliant.

Mental. Wanting your team to lose in a semi-final FA cup is absolutely delusional. Ow, and my god I loved the passion from the lads. Thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Not sure why Bobby Martinez has a fetish for Lennon over Deuloeu, he changed the complexion of the game as soon as he came on against a suspect Rojo.

Nonsense. Lingard was lovely

Agree. Not a fan of Lingard but he was pretty good today. Found spacing and ran at the defense and obviously works well with the other two young guys. His problem is that he lacks that finishing touch. Should have scored that chance when he was put through by Rashford.

Absolutely buzzing after that! It was like watching the United of old.

Martial, De Gea and Fellaini with the standout performances.

Can't wait for the final!

These are the matches you watch football for. It was exhausting, delightful, excruciating, nail biting and had the perfect finish.

Now let's go lift the cup.

Brilliant match! It had almost everything. Everton will obviously be devastated, especially with how hard they fought back but on the balance of the game, United were the better side and deserved the victory.

Both sides were very wasteful in front of goal, Lukaku being chief culprit. Fellaini, De Gea and Martial were very good all game. Special mention out to Lingard who gets a rough ride here, but I felt he had a very good game, maybe his best yet. Rooney also looked good in midfield again, but was maybe lucky he got to some of the balls ahead of the Everton boys occasionally.

We can revel in Martial's late winner tonight, but it will be all in vain if we don't win the final come May. But, lets celebrate a fantastic moment in our club's glorious history!

Brilliant...almost like the good old days. Great save from the PK by De Gea, 2 great goals from United, the injury-time winner. Awesome. Not too bothered either way who wind the other Semi tomorrow.

Decent performance. Lingard was fecking terrible though along with Rojo and Carrick (second half).

That's just nonsense, Lingard was good. His movement is very good and he is a positive player, links well.
My only criticism is his finishing.

The penalty was a 50/50... I don't blame the ref for making that call. It looked like a clumsy rash challenge and from the position he was, very hard to tell if he nicked the ball first.. it looked like he went through Barkley to get it at first instance.

Van Gaals comments were utterly unnecessary and he should have showed passion yes.. but passion in terms of being ecstatic about the win. Miserable toad.

Anyway as to the game itself, cracking first half by us.. I thought Lingard was the best player on the pitch and Rooney was close behind. Both of them allowed us to completely dominate the game. Second half, both were shite and we totally lost control of the midfield and were relying on sucker punches to get us through. Stones and Barkley were excellent in the second half and Lukaku was awful throughout, games like this make me hope we don't sign him.. there are better strikers out there in my opinion. He always has this clumsy feel to him and I think he's a notch short of proper world class.

Amazing game overall and from a United perspective, in a big game.. it was a brilliant performance overall. We looked threatening, created chances.. yes we defended poorly but it was a great spectacle. Think we will go on to win the Cup and I hope LVG takes solace in that and bids farewell because whilst he has laid down some decent foundations by accident, I don't envisage him being the man to take us to that next level.

Feck Yeah!!!!
I am totally delirious. What a game. Against all odds we made it to the final!!

I am not even going to bother criticizing anyone today, the whole team was effin brilliant, the fans were amazing. I'm just going to savour this for a long long time...
