Post-match discussion

Shaw was great .. happy for him. Overall performance was okay .. nothing special but job done. I would not be against motominay starting against city. He's strong tall and keeps things simple. City would not prepare for his game plan. I feel without Pogba we lose steel and our team is built on that. I would push matic further up as he is actually good on the ball and good at driving the midfield. Mctominay would hold back and keep things simple. I no it's a bit football manager but risks are worth taking. I don't trust Ander in the middle with matic, we lose a lot of steel and control with him, he's been awful this year.

Tonight was 2-1.
Yes but we beat them as we beat Arsenal. And we did beat Arsenal. By 2 goals at their own stadium. Which is a bit humiliating for them. I mean, think about it. They lost. Arsenal lost. To us. Anyway, that's all I have to say. Don't want to go on and on about it.

Eerm.

What?

A magnificent couple of minutes against a mostly middling rest. Some positives, Shaw, Blind, some a bit off performances with very odd decision making. Good that Lukaku and Rashford scored as it might help rebuild their confidence. Onto the next one.

PS) 40 games at home unbeaten. Fortress Old Trafford, eh?

Always felt we had another gear if needed. Shaw did well enough after so long out, thought Blind was ok at CB too. Mata might not be putting up the numbers of last few seasons, but he is so useful to help keep ball moving

Thought we played well. On another day we could have gotten past 4 goals. Sloppy defending for their goal, but we were rarely troubled.
Yes. I managed to stay out of the MDT today; bet it was a barrel of laughs. Mats played well, pogba is class. Well done Romero, excellent Luke. Lindelof was good too. In fact no one was really bad. Sometimes Rashford drives me a bit daft w his decision making.

MDT was actually..

Normal tonight.

This was cska but i was delighted with show tonight. Really enjoyed in this game. Shaw well done. Lukaku scored exactly the goal why i wanted him here. Classic power.
And special mention to mata. I want to see him on that no10 position 2 years now. He should play there and only there.

Souness slating Pogba on TV 3. I agree he was a bit loose defensively but he was amazing on the ball. Bitter ....s

I fear us against City... it would be like if you took De Brunye out of City, they would lose a massive edge to their team.
Let us be positive and enjoy today's performance. We'll sulk on Sunday if we get a negative result.

Fairly easy win, some great passages of play, some sloppy, some wasteful.
Shaw very good after being out for so long, hope he can push on.

Mata and Rashford very good in patches.
Romero had very little to do.

Can't believe the CSKA goal was given, must have been one of the most obvious offsides ever, not only the linesman but the official behind the goal line must be blind and yes Blind was behind the goal line.
Referee was poor all game.

Not cool, mate. Not cool!

Thought it will be a dull game, but that was very entertaining. Some lovely attacking play from us. Pogba, Lukaku, Shaw and Mata best of the bunch.

Bring on City.

Why did Jose send Lukaku and Valencia straight down the tunnel when they were subbed out?

A few good positive's tonight, not just the goals from Lukaku and Rashford, thought Mata did well, Lindelof continued improving and Shaw was outstanding. Hope that kid gets his head together and attitude right, he really could be our LB/LWB for a long time.

The three of them are going for a meal after the match so Jose wanted them to shit, shave and shower before their night out.

Remember how we looked under Moyes, at O.T and starting to hear things like lost fear factor and this stuff. Jose is such a top top manager and he is setting things right step by step, hope he stays for a long time here.

We beat them just like we beat Arsenal. Arsenal lost. 3-1. Yep.

It was 2-1.

That's a real shame. You were onto something here.

.

They stated in the post match interviews that due to a rule change it was the correct decision?

Decent match with hopefully no injuries. Massive game now on Sunday although it's going to be really tough. Especially without Pogba..

Loads of attractive football. Feels like an odd thing to say about a game we were losing for a while but CSKA showed us a bit too much respect in a way - pressed reasonably well but didn't disrupt the flow of the match enough to stop the likes of Pogba, Mata and Rashford really strutting their stuff. Good for the neutral and good for us that they didn't, anyway.

Not really a bad performance from anyone for us, and plenty of good ones. Pogba world class. Mata and Herrera both strong with some lovely touches. Valencia and Smalling both rock solid as ever. Shaw really bright, looked like the player we so briefly got to enjoy before his leg break. A well-deserved goal for Lukaku.

And elderly Russians everywhere will be having nightmares in the shape of Marcus Rashford.

Mkhi nowhere near the starting 11 or substitutes, thankfully. Nothing against the guy but has been terrible for us as of late. With the way Periera is going I would sell Mkhi in January and bring him back to be perfectly honest. So happy to see Mata with that assist, a return for him, Markie and Lukaku all in one game really. Sadly didn't get to see the whole thing so not sure if these were just glimpses of it, but proud of the boys big time. Now to go sock our noisy neighbors in the mouth and turn this season around.

Arsenal lost and that's that. There's nothing we can do about it. No, Arsenal will always have lost on 02/12/17 and never have not lost on 02/12/17. That's just the way it is, I'm afraid.

Decent performance - Shaw gave something different and mostly did well. Midfield 2 really struggle to take control of games though.. But then again so much of our play comes from wide, so maybe it doesn't matter.. Rashford wasteful and needs to find some end product - you can see how he's improving though, another few years of hard work and he could be as good as anyone.

Only saw the second half but there was some nice passing on show in the final third at times. Something I've really really missed.

I'd say it went pretty much exactly as Jose and we wanted. Not too stressful or tiring before the big game. 'Just enough' in terms of result, which is what I expected after Jose's press conference. Thankfully there was some nice football on show and good performances from certain players.

Shame me and my Argie flatmate tried to bet on 2-1 before it started but the website wasn't working. He turned to me when we went up and said "now I cut de balls off".

Gotcha... All clear now.

Maybe laying off the pot for tonight would not be a bad idea, but suit yourself.

Good to win after conceding a bad goal.
Good to see Shaw playing well and looking fit.
Good that Matic got a break.
Good to see us attacking well.
Good that Lukaku & Rashford scores.
Good to qualify as group winners.
Now to do a job next Sunday!

Job done, nice turnaround so quickly and hopefully the goals will give Lukaku and Rashford their confidence back. Shaw was very good.
