PL W FA Premier League

Manchester United 2:1 Crystal Palace

Post-match discussion

We were coasting towards a casual win without having been in any danger the entire game. Loved that. Sadly it got out of hand but I don't agree with some posts in various threads stating it was a bad performance. They are a tough team to play and we had complete control until the red card.

Antony got a lot of criticism on Dutch TV (Viaplay) because he didn't continue on certain "breakouts" even though there were still 5 Palace defenders in front of us and just two of our attackers on the far side of the field. Think he overall just did what he had to do and in those moments specifically did the right thing.

I was pleased with the way we played up until the Casemiro incident, Palace had no say whatsoever and for the majority of the game it looked like an easy win against a tough, defensive team. For a very long time we haven't been able to say that often.

None of this is happening without ETH. Even bringing in quality players as we've done wouldn't have been enough. Managers like ETH are rarer than midfield beasts like ClassyMiro. Whoever convinced the board to hire ETH deserves a statue outside OT. So glad we got this fella.

Mariner is an absolute cnut and needs to be investigated. Possibly the worst refereeing I've ever seen in a game and that's saying something. Palace are quickly topping the list of my most hated teams in the PL. Utter thugs.

With you mate. Disgusting.

Thought we were very average and Palace were poor. Lacked any urgency or killer instinct in the first half and second half at 2-0 we were coasting in second gear until Casemiro’s red.

Relieved to have got the 3 points, had we not we’d have had ourselves to blame because Palace were very poor, we should have been out of sight early doors but made hard work of it in the end.

Take the win and move on to the next game
We looked a bit leggy earlier on which was slightly worrying
Let’s enjoy the season as we did not expect anything after the 1st two games
I’m just happy we’ve got a united team again

I'm not sure you understand the basics of the English language. I haven't "accused" you of anything. I quoted what you said verbatim and then asked how you would have described any of the other players in the same fashion.

I didn't find your comment offensive, just genuinely don't understand how its acceptable to describe a player in the manner you did.

As I said earlier, I'll leave it to the Mods.

Cheers

There is nothing wrong with my grasp of the English language, thank you very much. I'm more than aware of what you were insinuating.

To answer your question, I would have described any other player that looked like Will Hughes in that fashion, if I saw fit to. If you don't like it, you're more than welcome to skip past my comment and carry on with your evening, especially if you didn't find it offensive. Nobody made you reply to it, so what is actually your problem?

Good day, sir.

Important win! Referee was trying his best to make us drop points. Absolutely hate palace and their antics. Hate palace and hate Vierra. Big win!! Common reds!
Hope we appeal the red card.
Need Sancho to start over Antony. I help him responsible to instigate that whole incident.

A better more important 3 points now seeing Newcastle drop points at home in a match they were expected to win. What's the best result for United in tomorrows Man City v Tottenham game?

Why the feck would we want retrospective bans for Palace players? They are playing Brighton (6th), Brentford (7th) and Liverpool next.

Your lex is daft.

Fair point, although in practical reality none of those clubs are catching us. Newcastle, not United, need to worry about Brighton catching them. In any event, Palace aren't taking 9 points off those three.

The real point is equity. If Casemiro was rightly sent off and banned for putting his hands around the neck of an opposing player (which he did), Ayew also should be banned.

Just watched the extended highlights and we held on which is a good thing. We are able to grind them out.Casemiro is such a great pressence in our midfield that Im not gonna give him a hard time because of this (deserved) red. I just hope the Fa doesnt tear us a new one with the number of games he cant play.

The heart and desire to hold on for the win, I've missed this so much. We're back, we're truly back. We are a team again. ETH is the absolute best appointment since Fergie no doubt. I am loving us so much now once again.

With that last 15 or 20 minutes of backs to the wall, the world is against us attitude, that might have more of a positive affect in galvanising an even stronger team spirit. It may turn out to be good thing in the long run.

What an idiotic post
Its not actually. I like Casemiro as much as anybody here but he made a serious mistake and if ETH stays true to his own vision of discipline he might get some kind of "Rashford type" of punishment. The reality is he is our most important player currently and it wont happen.

Of course it is. Hes got a three game ban.

All outcomes are good for us, probably still prefer to see city lose

Agreed. In situations where a club right above and right below (two places in the case of Spurs), I usually pray for the draw. But in this case, I'll take a Spurs win. We're not that far off Arsenal and with their loss today their aura could shatter pretty quickly and, so long we do our part, we might just be in this, so we could do with City dropping all three points.

Sorry, but this is an absurd take.

This right here is some bizarro thinking. Antony is about the biggest shithouse in the squad or even the league and EtH loves him from before he joined us.

He won't punish his players for standing up for each other, some of you need to give your head a wobble.

Unacceptable from Casemiro.

If ETH dropped Rashford for sleeping in I expect and hope Casemiro is disciplined beyond what the league dictates.
Ah yes. Lets ban him even longer than 3 matches, sometimes its not enough that the ref sent someone off, the manager should add more punishment. That will teach him alright.

Just pleased with the result.

I worry about the pressures on our squad. Can we realistically compete on four fronts? I don't think.

Need a few heroes over the next few months.

Huge result. Clear in third place now which feels good, even though we are still a game behind.

Casemiro suspension is a sour note. Sabitzer... you're up

In 7 min added time ref find way to play till 8.30 min, its really look like ref want CP to have late goal.
7 mins added on time doesn’t mean the ref has to blow on exactly 97 mins. There was injury time and time wasting in those 7mins, which the ref has to consider.

Will open my 25 year old bottle of Redbreast the day Palace get relegated. Shower of cnuts. Glad to get the win in the end. Mariner is clearly an ABU.

What do we want for the city game tommorow? I would take a draw. Moves us closer to city and keeps spurs distant.

how the fuk did mariner not send off Ayew for grabbing Fred in the neck/face but willing to send off Casemiro for basically doing the same thing

everyone is fuming about the inconsistent refereeing during "that" incident, and rightly so. But I am still pissed about the Sabitzer "free kick" that sent Rashford 1 on 1 in the 89th minute. Has anyone done a gif of it yet?

It was extremely heartening to see how well we were pressing in added time.

Also, was Vieira’s cranium that massive when he was playing? He looks like Barry Bonds.

It was silly from Casemiro but the ref completely fecked us. It's the softest interpretation of violent conduct you'll ever see. In fact, I doubt you'll ever see another red card like that in the EPL again ever.

It's especially galling as that little albino cnut Hughes was mouthing off and trying to throw himself into the middle of the melee until Casemiro grabbed him. Can't see how one of those things was more violent than the other.

Was a good display up until then. fecking hate Palace. fecking hate Viera. fecking hate Mariner and whatever little goblin was on the VAR today.

Sabitzer looked good. Him and Fred should be enough to see us through until the final.
Hate Viera, yes.

The red card check took ages, there were a few subs and Rash and Bruno had a bit of writhing on the floor and other time wasting. Seven mins maybe harsh but fair, world cup style, which you don't see in the prem so much.
i watched on Peacock stream and they showed it back a couple times....commentators were baffled at why a foul was called

that would fuking stupid to do....was he dumb for what he did, Yes but as a manager you have to respect and appreciate how Casemiro and his teammates had his back and were willing to "fight" to protect him. taht goes a long way with team building and team bonding

Well said. Great nick too, btw.
