We lost the match in midfield for 2 reasons...

1) Herrera's red which was foolish and although he should have been giving a chance.

2) Pogba, wtf is wrong with him? Is he burnt out or injured?? He today decided he was not going to run so that for me cost us as he didn't close Kante down who for me is worth £500m if Jogba is worth £89m!

Ferguson rarely got it wrong. Rarely. last year he gave an interveiw and said kante was the best player of the season, and we let him go join chelsea.

There is no difference between fabregas and pogba at the moment one who cost 30 m and one 89

How on earth does Pogba have a lower rating than Herrera? For fecks sake.

I seriously cannot wait for Jose to bin Herrera off this summer and let Pogba play with a proper central midfielder instead of a passion merchant.

We seem to have bad luck with refs at the bridge (Clattenburg aside). Hopefully we get some decisions going our way at home.

Ref ruined it. We played okay considering. I'm not massively disappointed by the result. We need to beat Rostov Thursday and push on in the league.

Red card completely ended the game - as soon as Mkhi went off, we lost our only connection between midfield and attack and Rashford was completely isolated against three CBs. Mkhi was also the only player on the pitch with the creativity and burst of pace combined that could potentially unlock them.

Herrera is way too reckless and carless for my liking. I love his passion but he's a poor tackler and is always a booking waiting to happen - that said, two fouls, neither terrible, and two yellow cards?! Seems a bit OTT from the referee - a final warning would've sufficed but the way Ander started, he still would've got another yellow later on.

Game was killed. I said to my old man, 'no chance of us scoring from open play now, game over'.

The majority of those lads can at least be proud of fighting to the bitter end. Rojo was excellent I thought, hats off to him - went toe-to-toe with Costa and didn't back down a millimetre. Great showing.

However....one man cannot hold his head up high....

Pogba. Absolute effing dogshit performance, again. This is becoming a major issue, a real elephant in the room. Offered absolutely nothing out there.

We're not as good as Chelsea this season - no shame in admitting that.

Onto the next one. Crucial two games coming up.
You never watch Paul Scholes trying to tackle then. He was dangerous. He would have been off within 5 minutes with this referee.

 Ease off on the crazy juice!

When fellani came on and Mkh off i lost all hope what so ever. Carrick was better choice than him . We absolutely need a clearout of Fellani young Darmian Rooney.

Hey all, been working didn't see any game, just saw Ander got sent off which really pissed me off. He really needs to get a grip of these stupid tackles because he eat so many silly fouls against him, but I've seen nothing of it so just my gut reaction, was it a red?

To be honest, we showed some resilience here. Down to 10 with Chelsea battering us, not bad. Shame about the red card as it was shaping up to be a good game.

Ref is definitely a twat, but Ander needs to have more discipline and use his intelligence. Seems to be too emotional at times. Passion is ok, but you must control yourself. Controlled aggression is what he must learn.

Anyway, hope for another good defensive performance on Thursday and Ibra will be up top to hopefully do the business.

The first card wasn't a yellow. Herrera stood still. Hazard ran into him and he fell like he stepped on a land mine. What was Herrera supposed to do? Vaporise so Hazard can run past him?

I don't know why experienced referees fall for that trick. Just because a player is trying to complete a 1-2 pass does not give him the right to walk through defenders in a stationary position.

Oliver ruined this game.

Having Pogba in the side now is like buying wallpaper before you have walls. Problem is we had to act because players wont just wait around for us to get our house in order. We still lack two CMs. Every world class AM has or had two snarling nasty water carriers behind them

Thought Valencia was our best player, played very hard and was very fired up. Beast

Rashers has to take that chance, obviously he's very young and I've no desire to hammer him but at the top level like this you cannot miss them. He did fantastic to make the chance and was tireless all night feeding off scraps. He must learn from that

We never win at Chelsea regardless and with all our squad issues we did as well as we could really.

Win on Thursday and I'll forget this pretty quickly

Sorry? You press as a team....we didnt.
Should never have had Fellaini and Pogba on together.
We'll agree to disagree. Remeber when we beat Arsenal in 99 FACup? By having a go.
Nothing ventured.........and it is how football works!

Not that bothered. Harsh on Herrera ultimately but at the same time he was stupid to put that tackle in literally 2 seconds after the ref had stopped play to talk to Jones and Smalling. He almost had no choice.

Pogba was always going to struggle in a 10 man team against that formation. Should have done better on Kante though, fair enough, but then who expected Kante to hit that? He looked tired, he's played probably more minutes than anyone.

Rojo is awesome. So too Valencia.

Thought we did well ultimately, they didn't really have that many chances despite 70% possession, and if Rashford had of converted would have been extra time.

Bring on be more important competition on Thursday. That one I'll be pissed about going out in.

Nah I watched the whole thing smart arse. I know the commentators kept banging on about a good start from us but personally all I saw was a few attacks that went fecking nowhere.
Both the teams didn't do much until that point. That Hazard run was the only real chance they had till the red card. Both teams were cancelling each other out. It was an even contest until the ref decided to end it early. The worst thing was we had to take off our best player to get in Fellaini.

Very frustrating, just too many limited players in our team, but we already knew that. No real fight, we just accepted a 1-0 loss wasn't too bad after Herrera went.

We defended really well though, but nothing going forward.

You wouldn't have said this had Rashford finished that golden chance.

It was not a booking, there had been fouls like that all night without yellows being shown, some not even called at all. He only sent him off becuase he just finishing warning Jones and Smalling about fouling.

 the playing with 10 men, away from home, at the best team in the league plan? Aye, that really cost us.
I'm unsure of your point, Pogue.

Is it that we never had a chance, when reduced to ten? If so, I would suggest being reduced to ten was our own fault.

Stupidity from Herrera and Pogba failed to turn up again.

Thought Rashford was outstanding with little service. Defensively we stood up well i thought too. Just not our night.

Gotta love Michael Oliver logic. Hazard being fouled a lot by different players, next one to foul him gets the yellow. Not sure it works that way Mikey.....

I don't know what to call it, efficiency maybe, but a little more of that could've been sufficient for extra time today. Rojo had a dangerous header, Mkhi and Pogba two decent shooting opportunities and Rashford a big chance. One of those 4 and we have a game.

Only Rashford's can be called a really big chance however.

I thought we defended well, even in the second half. Probably a very very tired team towards the end, making it hard to expect anything more than some meek last-ditch attempts.

Some of the over praising towards Chelsea by the media is unbelievable tonight. They were average at best.

Never gone into a game before having less belief in getting a win as did tonight.

BBC have just shown a stamp by Rojo missed that during the game, could be a 3 match ban coming up if the FA want to take action
I fecking hate the BBC.... their legendary neutrality is garbage. After MOTD turned into a "Free Mings" campaign, I'm waiting for them to stay true and say you can't show any intent for Rojo too...... I'll be waiting a long time?

Ridiculous.

Said it a million times When you make transfer mistakes ie kante mane KDB sanchez matic Who's energy and pace and accelaration wins you first and second balls You gotta pay the price plain and simple.

Pogba has not improved an inch this season. He has flopped all the big games till now and always gets caught stroolling around defensively. 30m fabregas 25 m kroos 25 m thiago 40 m vidal 30 m kante 58 m KDB every one looks better than pogba. Pogba has got no clue how to win first and second balls in midfield and control the game.
