No champions league at Old Trafford next season.

Can't blame Memphis solely, though it was a terrible pass. That 93/7 possession stat in Chelsea's favour about halfway from us scoring and full time is so damning. How has someone so arrogant as LVG managed to instill such cowardice in his players? The goal was inevitable from the moment play resumed after we scored.

Feels like a wasted opportunity. Played well for 70 mins and then showed poor game management (manager & players). If you are going sit back on a single goal lead with 20 mins left at least pose a threat on the break to keep them honest, instead we kept oofing it away like championship players for them to come back and players were slowing play down when in possession.

I think overall a draw was about right. Utd started each half well but Chelsea upped thier game and in the end deserved an equaliser.

Still dissappointed though, against a strong an on form Chelsea side Id say good result but today I cant.

Seems like LVG is playing football manager and he keeps pressing the counter/standard/contain/attack button too often and making the wrong choice!

On the plus side that young lad with the funky haircut at left back looks like he could make a good understudy for Shaw next season.

Absolutely. I'm a fan of Memphis, but the type of substitution was wrong and the choice of player, a cocky kid lacking confidence, was stupid. I blame LVG for that one, not Memphis. No foubt LVG blames Memphis though.

You can blame the sub, but you have to hold the player accountable. He was fecking stupid, again. Do you really think a manager would tell a player to waste possession like that?

We weren't even able to pose a threat from a counter those last 20 mins, sth that defined us through the years. Just showed no balls and hoofed every ball away.

Manager should know the player has poor decision making for this level.

Overall I'm actually happy with the performance but we sat back too soon after we took the lead, Memphis made a mess of a promising situation and Blind committed a bad mistake.

Oliver didn't shower himself in glory today but I'm not going to put blame Chelsea's comeback on him.

Yeah but look how high up the pitch Depay made the mistake. The other players had to focus but at that period of the game Chelsea has so many threats on the pitch and most of them are quite quick. What Depay should have done though, is run it in the corner and hopefully they have a word with him.

The Memphis calamity in their box, he's unlucky that they score from it 85yds later but he should have held it up. Can't really hold the dimwit actually responsible for them scoring thegoal.

But do it, if you want to, the guy's an absolute clown.

I can't really complain about this result. If we played like this more often, particularly against the Norwich's of the world, we'd be doing a lot better. If the mistake of a young and promising LB is what leads to our blowing a lead at Stanford Bridge in extra time, then I'm not going to lose too much sleep over that. I also don't have any problem with LVG's subs. Bringing Depay on late against a team pushing for a winner makes sense to me. Hardly LVG's fault that said player brainlessly gave the ball away prior to the equalizer. As well, I can't really see the problem with bringing Schneiderlin on for Fellaini (despite the latter playing quite well in my opinion.) Herrera for Mata was neither here nor there for me - a sub simply to run down the clock.

There were ebbs and flows in our performance, but this was much more entertaining than a lot of the dross we've been served up this season. It's clear we're still several players short of challenging for the title, but foundations are being set.

We're mentally weak and we always crack when the pressure is on.

Has the presser come out yet ? I feel awful..:( Feels like a defeat that, and Costa scoring of all people.

But that's also down to the manager - Depay isn't known for his hard work, so why bring him on at a crucial point in the game?

Surely any sub. should have been either a defender, or an impact sub. and we haven't really got one of those these days.

In isolation this wouldn't be a bad result, even if we conceded a stupid late equalizer.

but because we perform so poorly against sides that we should be comfortably beating and dropping stupid points everywhere it puts us in a position where we have to win these games under pressure and we're currently failing to deliver and I can't see van gaal turning this around.

Remember when so many were complaining about performances yet got the results. Today, again, confirms that results are all that matters. Wasting away two points because the performance, mentally/tactically/physically declined post-goal, is so disappointing again.

Costa has a 100% scoring rate vs Man United.

Glad LVG called out the ref for not letting us play on at the end. Happens too many times.

LVG is right in his interview, never seen us just hoof it out as much a we did today...serious lack of composure.

Lingard was by far the worst for it too. No doubt that's why he was taken off for Memphis.

It's not even putting in a shift. Depay's effort and mentality has always been a risk with the club. Who else would have been brought on? Pereira was the only other viable sub, but he hasn't played in a while and while he runs around a lot too, he's not exactly defensively disciplined.

It's annoying when a mistake from a player ended up costing 2 points. Maybe they would have scored anyways, but it still hurts alot.

There were a lot of mistakes in the passage of play leading up to the goal, but because the margins of victory are always so small, we'll always be critical, which is fair.

Was it against Southampton that Fellaini was taken off....moments later, they scored.
Same in this game: Fellaini was taken off...I think 10 minutes later they scored. Though today's goal was not from a set piece, so not sure if Fellaini would've made any difference.

Costa just has so much desire/passion and aggression to his game.

Can't blame LVG for this one. You can tell Fellaini was knackered and when Hazard came on he went right after Fellaini. LVG brought on Morgan instead but he disappointed.

I think CBJ made a mistake by trying to take the ball off costa there. It really threw DDG off. He should have tried to get to the goal line, in case costa tried to get around De Gea and been there in case a shot came. It's obviously just a split second decision, but I did notice DDG get noticeably unsettled when CBJ came flying in like that.

we were so open that last 20 mins - Costa was finding a fair bit of space in our box

Can't understand the Fellaini sub - why not take off Mata or Lingard and bring on Schneiderlein to tighten things up?

Memphis was poor with that attack but it's a misplaced pass from a rusty player...we still had to defend it and Costa found far too much space

It's not even wasting possession. It's a fecking pass to do to Schneiderlin who made the run to create the numbers. It's criminal at this point to not realize that this could be a killer for the game, after such a game where you spend a lot of energy, score, and defend well.

So when we are playing bad people say 'I just want to play attractive football i dont care about results' and when we play attractive football and draw 1-1 to a last minute goal away at an unbeaten chelsea then suddenly it's the result again

This is the problem with that theory, we are not getting the results and the performances are not there, so VG is not delivering neither. Yea like the Newcastle game cannot keep a lead, we are at the point where he's dropped one to many points and it's no CL football again

You still need a player to play the counter. Herrera could have been a good sub but Mata has been very good. Schneiderlin in for Fellaini was a good move, but Memphis has been stupid. I hope LVG bans him for a month to teach him football.

We lost the game because we let it become one-way traffic and the pressure became too much. Having had to endure this possession bollocks for nearly two seasons, we failed to implement the bastard philosophy at the exact moment we needed it.

We're not going to get top four, but at least we can look forward to Mourinho coming in.

CBJ should have played the line at the edge of the box when Blind was moving up. But anyway, the whole problem comes from Memphis' action so...

had we taken off Mata and sat on our lead we still would have had Martial, Rooney and Lingard

the priority had to be the space in our box which was not addressed
