We were better today than I thought we'd be. More sure of ourselves on the ball, especially in our own third. Some great opportunities but it's shocking how poor we are at finishing chances.

They were much worse than I thought they'd be. At times they looked apathetic. I thought they'd be much more aggressive and high tempo. The fact that they didn't press us much was shocking, it's almost as if they didn't even study the Sevilla match and see how we utterly collapse under a high press.

Awesome to be in another final, but, lucky me, I'm in my mate's wedding on the day of the final, so unless this winds up being a morning match in the US, I'm screwed.
If I remember it’s 2pm kick off UK time every year
Edit looked it up, completely wrong buddy sorry about that

F off Pawson, blatantly looked the other way for yellows and other fouls. We didn't play well, our ability on the ball has really deserted us. Subbing on Fred helped because Eriksen could not keep up with lack of support or direction for Rashford to help defensively, Bruno was hobbling around and Casemiro was having to pull out of challenges.

Ten Hag is going pull off some magic to get us playing well to compete in the final. He definitely cannot start Eriksen from the off in that one or we are going to be destroyed. Has to start conservatively to start, make sure we are fighting/winning our challenges. Hopefully Varane is back and fit by then to partner with Shaw otherwise it has to be Lindelof who was very good today but, Halaand is going to be an absolutely different prospect.

Win our next 3 premier league matches and we will be in a good place to start rotating and preparing for the final.

Yes agree with you, but just taking the game itself we were 2nd best thats all I am saying. They had a week, we had 3 days. We need a big overall in the summer and hopefully new owners will accomplish what TH asks for.

Very few teams outplay Brighton. The game in Seville had barely kicked off 72 hours ago, it was brutal, we’ve lost both centre backs, who knows how fit half these players are.

I’m not saying we don’t need a lot of work in the summer, but that just brings more credit to the manager really.

But Caicedo is one seriously talented footballer - would love to see us try to sign him in the summer.

Really looking forward to the final. This side has overachieved this season really. If we can win that and get top 4. Awesome season.

Even if we lose. Still proud of them
How I feel. EFL Cup, top 3/4, and finalist of FA Cup is a successfully season in my mind. Something to build on.

It's between 3pm and 5:30pm typically... So 10am and 12:30pm EST. Got a friend's wedding that day too, but that starts at 4:30/5 so should be fine.

Well done United.... 2 Wembley finals, a trophy and 3rd in PL - given the imperfect nature of the squad Ten Hag is more that impressive… and well done to Brighton, who are a very good team and have had a great season. The last team you want to face in a final is City but is anyone remember the ‘77 final when Liverpool had won the league and were in the way to the European Cup Final via the FA Cup Final against United. We ended Liverpool's treble bid and I have a feeling we gonna beat Man City in the final and end their treble dreams. This is the first time we won an FA Cup penalty shootout having lost each of our first four before today. That’s an omen. Lets go United.

I think this game showed we cannot have Harry Maguire appear for us for the rest of the season, unless as an absolute last resort.

It's not just because of his defensive shortcomings, which are clear to see, but because of the panic and unease which permeates to the GK and rest of the defence when he's playing.

Lindelof looked like the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders by not having Maguire beside him, and Shaw did a decent job at LCB. A makeshift defence limited a much vaunted Brighton attack to just a handful of half chances.

A long term solution, of course not, but right now we need to battle and scrape through our remaining handful of fixtures, can't afford to carry any deadweight.

Didn’t see that banger coming from Lindelof but what a relief.

Thought for sure Wout was going to be the one to miss.

He's actually faurly good at set pieces. He scored a banger against Sporting when he played for benfica.

Yeah. I do feel sorry for Maguire at times. No one deservea the humiliation he receives as a person. But he’s not for United. Teams purposely target him and as you say his team mates are uncomfortable with him. Just has to go for the team and his own sake.

Unfortunately we won't beat City.

Said an earlier poster.

2013 FA Cup Final.

Who gave Wigan a chance?

The negativity. Just pack it in and give your heads a wobble.

We really need to cheer up, it could have been worse. We could be Chelsea fans.

The fecking stress of it like. So relieved that one of them missed as it never felt like we De Gea would save them.

Huge final now, for so many reasons.

It will take a parked bus, a route 1 goal and a great deal of shithousery from us to win the FA Cup.
I'm sure someone at the club still has Mourinho's phone number.

Honestly it’s incredible to actually see. If Maguire was playing today without a doubt Lindelof would not have played that well.
Definitely on board with never playing Maguire again, for his sake and his team mates.

As for the game, we were pretty rubbish in midfield and attack. Bruno and Rashford did alright at times.
Defensively though one of our best perfomances for some time. Whole back four did really well. No panic, everyone stayed calm, got their blocks and challenges in.

We really need to be better at keeping the ball and playing coherent football though. Considering that was our strongest team bar Martinez and Varane, it was pretty abject for large spells.

100% onboard.

Brighton have a lot of possession as their center backs like to stand on the ball to suck players out. I liked our tactics of standing off of them and letting them play the ball around the back.

Once it got to pen shoot out I was convinced we'd lose. We must have one of the worst records going of late but happy to be proven wrong!

But the final...ETH needs a very good plan to get past the bitters.

We won. Well done all. Well done squad. Magnificent from the manager. At at time like this, supporters celebrate. They hope Bruno’s injury not serious. They look forward to final. It was nerve wracking but I had a feeling we might do well in the penos. Well done everyone who took one. Great Sancho, ice cool Victor.

Absolutely delighted with that not a great game but who cares.
Some of the nonsense on here in the lead up to the game that we had no chance as if Brighton were prime Barca was pathetic.

Lindeloff,Awb De Gea outstanding.
Not prime Barca but a really good side missing some good players. If this is the 7th placed team in the PL it's a good show of the talent in this league. Which is why it hurts to lose to the 15th placed team in Spain earlier this week

Our attack
Rashford and Bruno both broken
Eriksen poor
Martial showing he just isn’t good enough, just doesn’t have the minerals to be a United player no matter how talented

I’ve not been a Fred fan in the past but he made a difference and so did Weghorst in actually trying to press

Our players looked knackered to me, so will choose not to be critical.
Glad they got to another final. This was a difficult game, dug deep and got through.

Get. IN THERE.

Had a rotten feeling about this one but delighted we are through. Having to play City again though feels like a good news/bad news scenario but anyway we are in the final now so will worry about that later.

De Gea in penalty shootouts is just........ no. Big moments for Rashford and Sancho scoring though.

Can we keep Shaw/Lindleof as our CB pairing until Varane is fit? Every one just seems so much calmer without Maguire around.

Feared the worst for those pens. De Gea everyone knows doesn't save any, whereas Sanchez seems a lot bigger and better at them.
Bruno, our best taker off the pitch too.

Delighted to scrape through. Could tell March didn't fancy one. A wide attacker in a 4-3-3 going 7th!?

Ref took until 90mins to book one of their players. Allowed Mitoma and Welbeck to utterly crunch De Gea. The sort of challenges anywhere else that would be a definite yellow, but you for some reason get licence to get away with it on the keeper as you were "going for the ball".
