Thank god for that

Dave on penalties is a problem…what the feck was that. Absolutely useless we got lucky
The pens taken were all brilliant except March's. Not like Sanchez saved any of them.

Big 90 minutes on Thursday now and we could save Top 4 pretty much confirmed as well.

After all the drama after last week it’s still shaping up to be huge leap from last season.

Absolutely delighted with that. Showed some real fight playing against a very good Brighton team who played about 20 less games than us this season. Our fatigue is really showing though, that's why I wouldn't be blaming any player for a supposedly shit performance or anything, players are playing on fumes and others clearly aren't match fit.

I said it before the shootout started we would only win if they miss a pen. De Gea nowhere near any of the pens even though they were all going in the same direction.

Defence looked solid. We should keep Lindelof and Shaw partnership till the end of the season.

Ah yes, penalties. Where De Gea gets a load more stick than any other keeper. I’m not De Geas number one fan but the amount of stick he gets during penalties is ridiculous!

Aside from that, nice to win a shootout!

Nah. Just look at his shootout record since 2012. Abysmal.

With the result, im ecstatic but not gonna lie and say we played well, which is bullshit
You haven’t considered the season as a whole the injuries and the game on Thursday. We actually defended incredibly well for 120 mins and restricted them to very few chances.
this game actually showed me a lot about the team.

We're the famous Man United and we're going to Wembley :D
I'll take one CL spot and two cups please.

I have nearly shit myself when Weghorst was taking a pen. But he scored. Luckily enough Brighton missed one penalty

Maybe Pawson's blatant cheating fired up our players.

We didn't play well but we fought hard and that's all you can hope for in games like this. They're often ugly affairs.

That was a long afternoon but great feeling to win by a penalty shoot out. Brighton were really tough on the day, their football was better than ours, I think we edged the chances today though.

Wan Bissaka was superb today, he worked really hard and defended excellently. Just the small task of beating the best team in the world now.

Thank god for that! Looked so much better with Fred on. Hope to see some injured players back and some players rested ahead of the final.

Isn't it like 39 out of the last 40 have gone in? Players are so confident they don't even miss, until tonight. How anyone can defend his penalty play is beyond me.

The way he just flopped to the same side for the majority of the pens really wound me up.

Match day thread full of people having a go at De Gea for not saving penalties. Happens every shootout.

Even when we won the shootout, some people in there, instead of celebrating, were posting that we needed someone to miss as De Gea wasn’t going to save.
Weren't wrong though, were they?

Nothing wrong with Lindelof at the back, he's just had to partner Maguire for the last couple of seasons anybody will look shite next to him.
Apart from Brighton having more of the ball I think it was an even game, we should be more than good enough to see off Spurs and get 4th place.

Worrying how bereft of form we are up front. Martial finished as a footballer, Rashford looks injured, Sancho scared of his own shadow and Antony with no end product.

But at least we know that if we keep slabhead out of the side we'll not shit the bed at the back quite so much. Shame he'll probably be back in vs Spurs
And yet we beat a team that most reckoned were going to batter us. Not bad with 7 players

I think this match really displayed DDG's strengths and weaknesses but would say overall he had a solid game. But if the final looks like it's going to PKs I think we'd all want us to sub in a new keeper at the end.

And yet we beat a team that most reckoned were going to batter us. Not bad with 7 players
Can’t believe we beat Brazil 70 today. I still remember the mass shitting on United when Brighton were outplaying *checks notes * Chelsea last week

Absolutely delighted with that not a great game but who cares.
Some of the nonsense on here in the lead up to the game that we had no chance as if Brighton were prime Barca was pathetic.

Lindeloff,Awb De Gea outstanding.

AWB is the best defensive full-back in the world no doubt, just hope he can improve even more in the attacking side.

Now that’s a quote no sane Man Utd fan would have said 6 months ago.

ETH really has got the best out of him

I said to my missus the only way United win this is if a Brighton player hits it off target

He was shocking... made Lawro seem cheerful.

Not the greatest match but at least we have a sat in denying City a treble and winning another trophy. Good season all things considered. No chance we are messing up top 4 now.

Pundits have handed City the treble already. In 1977, Liverpool got the same treatment from the press. In 1999, they were all waiting for us to fail. They were begging Arsenal to win the league and it was all over after Juve got a 1-1 draw at our place. Now 1977 Liverpool were, in many respects, as good as 2023 City and we beat them. It's a one-off game and a final to boot. We will win.

There should be an inquiry into Pawson's handling of the game. Ray Charles would have done a better job. We used to pride ourselves on the quality of our referees but man, the current crop are diabolical. Nevertheless, I had my 1968 blue replica shirt on today and we tend not to lose when I wear it, so Pawson notwithstanding, let's enjoy the win.

A lot of things to fix but happy we made it through

Great to win that , some very solid performances from us, injuries and tiredness are taking their toll though.
Oh and Danny Murphy is an insufferable prick too, never hears a word from him after Lindelofs penalty, wouldn't have been able to shut him up if we'd lost.

Yes agree with you, but just taking the game itself we were 2nd best thats all I am saying. They had a week, we had 3 days. We need a big overall in the summer and hopefully new owners will accomplish what TH asks for.

Maguire is so bad, he has ruined lindelofs career just being associated with him. He was excellent today.

But overall it was a tried performance, and I’m glad we won or it would have been a waste of 3 hours. Feels good to be in another final!

We were better today than I thought we'd be. More sure of ourselves on the ball, especially in our own third. Some great opportunities but it's shocking how poor we are at finishing chances.

They were much worse than I thought they'd be. At times they looked apathetic. I thought they'd be much more aggressive and high tempo. The fact that they didn't press us much was shocking, it's almost as if they didn't even study the Sevilla match and see how we utterly collapse under a high press.

Awesome to be in another final, but, lucky me, I'm in my mate's wedding on the day of the final, so unless this winds up being a morning match in the US, I'm screwed.
