Looking at this first goal, it's easy to blame De Gea. Sure it's a shot he should and most of the time would save, but like any keeper this kind of blunder does happen. The point is what's going on before this goal. Ronaldo receives the ball surrounded by Brentford players. He's struggling to maintain possession; Bruno who was busy directing his teammates as the throw-in was coming in actually RUNS AWAY from Ronaldo, the player who was behind Bruno is now free to intercept the ball which he does, winning possession and then passing to Dasilva.

Ronaldo struggling to hold onto the ball running on to it with a player infront and behind him, and Fred and Bruno decide the winning move is to run away from him to a position that he cannot see.

Fred as a holding midfielder doing that and leaving that much space is absolutely criminal. Or perhaps they've been coached to do that: if Ronaldo drops deep, they're to push up to stop the opposition back-line from collapsing on them and boxing them in. Although the fact Fred was subbed off at halftime would indicate otherwise.

Pause the video when DaSilva receives the ball. There's no united player within 15 yards of him and he's within shooting range. That's a mistake that will get punished more times than any team can afford.

These kinds of issues are nothing to do with the keeper, you swap him for the most inform goalie in the world and you're still gonna have these problems. Keane alluded to Bruno's attitude a while ago implying he was buying into his own hype and doing too much talking. That a player has that much room to shoot 10 minutes into a game is the real problem.

From the moment DaSilva receives the ball you can see he's got one thing in mind. At no point does he lift his eyes away from the ball, he's gonna shoot, you can see it a mile away. Yet Martinelli makes a lacklustre attempt to close him down, he should be flying at him fully committed, in the end it's a half-hearted tackle, Dasilva gets the shot off and scores.

DeGea held his nerve for years but sometimes when you see so much obvious stuff going wrong right in front of you it's hard to keep your spirit applied.

Edit: Also as the shot's going in there's a player sprinting into the box, if De Gea spills it, he gets to it first because Maguire who's stood right behind him and can see what he's doing doesn't react with nearly the same commitment. It's just too easy to blame one person for this. This is a collective effort.

I am much less concerned about Ten Hag than I was about Ole. Clear patterns in play. The squad needs an overhaul, no question.

Jamie Redknapp being a daft cnut against Neville. Saying how we cant point to the owners every time, they spend money and then demanded Neville looks at him when hes talking.

Neville is far from perfect but did a stellar job by not knocking him out right there.

Those of us who predicted 3-4 points from our first 5 matches were called “pessimistic” now it looks like even we were too optimistic

The players need to be honest with each other and the manager. Not the 'we need to be better' crap. But the 'why are we crap'. Be vulnerable, talk about the mental challenges they're facing. Low confidence, pressure of previous failures, PTSD-esque reactions to game moments, apathy to the current situation, detachment to avoid embarrassment leading to less committed performances on the pitch. What have you.

They need to be mentally coached from scratch. To think of just the moment, game after game. Some may benefit from an arm around the shoulder. Others with the hairdryer. As a team, they need inspiration - someone to follow and learn from. Ronaldo is not relatable, Maguire isn't good enough. They need someone to keep them grounded in their focus and one-game-at-a-time belief. They need insulation from their branding and their social media to be better at football.

Individually, as players, if they're just put into random teams around the world - most of them would be much better than what we see. They're better than this - they are just crumbling collectively under the pressure of playing for Manchester United and needing to get better results while their performances keep getting worse due to the mentality issues.

ETH has a massive job on his hands. And he needs a talisman around the club. Preferable more than one, because it's an insane job for just one player to keep carrying the team. Case in point being Bruno who now looks drained and miles away from the player who carried Ole through a year.

Murtough and co need to deliver these talismans or this will keep getting worse.

Redknapp looked like he had a producer in his ear giving him talking points. The exact same on Souness harps on about. Its all about views for Sky.

But agree. Glad Neville made sure he got his points across

Two games in and he already sounds like Ralf in his post match, don't blame him at all these players are pretty much dreadful across the board we all know this but i mean we needed this fire months ago he should have known this too.
They have known it for ages and should have been ditching players and bringing new ones in with consultation with ETH before he came. We have been far too polite when everybody knew he was coming here. City started the rebuild before Pep was ever there.

He's saying that these players aren't good enough/mentally gone and need replacing. He's right. Rangnick told the club that we needed a new team. They sacked him for it. They don't want to spend what is needed for this team to improve.

De Gea is massive part of the shit. Our fans that think he's good are absolutely deluded.
Focus on the micro for the moment. Obviously the Glazers are bad owners but I think today would have been better served saying De Gea needs replacing. Blaming the Glazers for everything is giving these players a free ride. I agree with Redknapp on this one.

No pun intended, but you're being short-sighted if you think height is everything. He's had 2 games ffs
True, only 2 games, but a lot of direct ball played against us with him the presumed recipient.
Early doors, but maybe he could be our new number 6? Certainly got the composure and requisite close ball skills.

"I'd have changed all 8 others as well"

Ten hag has been lumbered with a pile of shit and he knows it.

Am I dense or did he not struggle against high balls in these two games? If anything it was balls over the top.

We really need a 0 on player ratings, feel dirty giving most of them a 1.
All I can say is please don’t turn on ETH he needs a free pass this season. No manager could get a tune out of most of these spineless cowards. He needs time to boot them out and bring his own players in.

I don't agree. ETH is responsible for playing DDG in goals, he is a terrible terrible keeper. ETH is responsible for playing Dalot, awful awful player. ETH is responsible for spending 50m on a midget centre back and not using that to buy a fecking midfielder. That's all on him, no way should he be getting a free pass. Arnold should be telling him that if there is a repeat result or worse in the next game he's gone.....I'm not even joking, feck him if this is the best he can come up with, we can't even manage a new manager bounce.

After all the shite we have heard about him, discipline, high standards, training, fitness etc etc....this is the shit he serves up? feck right off

Just save the ball....

I keep coming back to the same things, but I feel like every game plays out exactly the same, and has done now since LVG came in, we look like a team who have absolutely no idea what we’re trying to achieve either in or out of possession.
The players have all had their chances, far far too many chances.. we could have played Brentford for another 3 hours today without scoring.. it’s just so confused and random.. why is nobody making runs in the final third?? Why is our build up play sooooo slow? Why are so many players left isolated so often? I just can’t get my head around it.. it seems like this collection of players can’t work out how to play in this league.. and yet everyone else has figured it out.
I’d play on the counter attack for the rest of the season.. get rid of Maguire in January, And buy some actual premier league quality defenders and a new keeper… build from the back, that’s what Fergie would have done in this mess

If ever there was a match that signalled the need to spend significantly to strengthen the squad, this was it. We need to spend close to 300M if this performance is anything to go by... feck me...

Bit harsh to blame an Arsenal player?

(I agree with the point though)

These players are dead men walking, they’re on the way out whether someone highlights them or not at this point.

The owners are the only exit that matters though and it’s the only one that time Isn’t guaranteed to solve for us.

All living Glazers could die of old age and the club would still be funding their descendants from League Two.

It's not giving the players a free ride. These players have been massively criticised over the past year. There is little left to say. They need replacing and that can't be done if the owners aren't willing to spend a lot of money.

Maguire, Rashford, McTominay, and Fred have taken an absolutely insane amount of criticism. Most of the others have, too, but not on the same level as those four.

Exactly. The cost of getting top 4 now outweighs getting there. They have no reason to give a feck anymore

Impressed that DDG asked to come out and be interviewed - shame his goalkeeping isn't as brave and he didn't actually admit his part in the second goal.

I've said for ages that we don't have a spine to the team. DDG weak, Maguire weak and no out-and-out centre forward of the ruud or RvP model. And we paid the price for that again today.

It was possibly the worst performance I've seen live ever. Watford was truly awful but that wasn't live (or have I just erased that from my memory?)

No one can take any credit for that showing and it's pretty much scores of "1" all round for the second week running which has never happened before. I

was embarrassed to be a United fan but for those still saying I hate the club and I'm loving this... well, you can do one (especially the one who thinks he's a doctor and told me i have OCD). You are like the Tory government who close their eyes and sing "la la la" and pretend nothing bad is happening. The fact is we are in an utter mess and without major surgery our club is going to be destroyed and become irrelevant for decades to come

Obviously there a re too many problems to even mention. What a sad day. I will support this club forever, so I will hope things will get better.

One thing is for certain, I never want to see Luke Shaw in a United shirt again.

I shit and piss on his 2nd-3rd, same goes for JM`s 2nd, covid years and XXL pts difference between 2nd and 1st, not to mention HE WON feck ALL, at least cnuts before him got some trophies.

Finishing 3rd and 2nd in Consecutive Seasons > Minor Trophies > Getting Relegated

Gary Neville making a very pertinent point that all the money from transfers comes from operational profit, none directly fro the Glazer pockets - we need rid of the viruses

De Gea was terrible but credit to him for not hiding. Did the same last season too, takes responsibility. Same can not be said for the rest of the players.

Don't agree with sacking him, but I agree that he deserves criticism. These performances are unacceptable and it's up to him to pick the team and system. He chose to buy Martinez. He chose to chase FDJ all summer and not sign someone else. Certain other players we've been linked to are also extremely questionable. He's targeting a bunch of players he's managed and played against before.

First time I've ever heard ETH speak. Sounds confused and shell-shocked
Yeah, it's a worrying sign. He sounded extremely confident in his first couple interviews with the club. It's almost a complete 180 in this one. The interviewer asked him if he was surprised by how hard this job would be. He said no, but I honestly think he is. He thought he could get way more out of these lads. We've seen them play enough to know that, that was going to be an almost impossible ask.

He's going to need some new signings really fecking fast. We're in huge trouble if we don't get what we need.

De Gea was terrible but credit to him for not hiding. Did the same last season too, takes responsibility. Same can not be said for the rest of the players.
De Gea was happy with his season last year after conceding 57 goals. He lacks self awareness.

For years our rivals have built skyscrapers and we've just been concealing cracks with lead paint on a crumbling palace where we've also stuffed the old foundations with plastic bags filled with cat shit. Yes I wrote this instead of watching the last few minutes so it's overly dramatic but still ffs.

Under Sir Alex, when we lost a previous game, I felt confident that we'd win the next one. The opposition were in trouble because the players wanted to WIN. They hated losing. So we'd go out and keep playing until the job was done. Everyone went on about Fergie Time and our late equalisers/winners but the reality was that United were just too damn stubborn to know when they had lost.

This current team, though? Five minutes into the game and things don't go perfectly? Their heads drop like fecking stones. They accept defeat because they're fecking useless. Brentford didn't even play much in that second half and we still did nothing. It was bad enough when City did it last season...

Every player needs to feck off. And the board and owners who have allowed our team to get to this point over the years and let it keep happening need to feck off as well. None of you cnuts are United. I don't even know what it means but, whatever, eat a bunch of spoons.

Biggest club in the world?! We've fallen so far behind our rivals because the club has accepted "below average" as the standard for ten years. From background staff to players we've been coasting, letting players build their "brand" and useless, clueless executives leeching a wage from the club for barely doing the minimum in their job descriptions, whilst other teams just breeze past us because they have experts in the right senior positions - which should be the real bare minimum requirement for the actual people put into those jobs.

And Liverpool are up next? feck me. Even when Liverpool were shite they were still proud of the shirt, their history, their retired legends. These fecks won't even bother. They'll just feel sorry for themselves, tell the press that it's not good enough and they must try harder, and buckle under the Scousers as soon as Salah pounces on the first misplaced pass. FFS, WE used to be their yearly Cup Final - that's how important it was for them to try and beat us, because they actually had pride. There's feck all chance of us having the same response now that the tables have turned.

Because these clowns are not Manchester United, they're Bruno8 (and whatever brand names the other players have) who just happen to play for United. If they actually gave a shit about the club they wouldn't buckle like this all of the time. feck the players. feck Murtough. feck the Glazers. feck all of them.

Bottom of the table. Exactly where this shower of shite belong.

yep

Wow, did he seriously say that? Fecking wannabe-hard-man cnut. Some good restraint from Nev if that's the case.
