PL L FA Premier League

Arsenal 2:0 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Sun, 07 May 2017

This loss will become meaningless if we win the Europa league. However, I believe we should have put in more of a fight with the team we put out. Some of these players should worry about their future after that performance.

Not good from the players but shocking from José. There was a result to be got but negative and pragmatic football cost us today

Can't read much into the result since we clearly didn't give a shit.

Don't give a feck about the result tbf. All 11 players played today won't feature against Celta except Darmian, Herrera and Mikhi.

After Celta we should field a completr bench + U23 players in the remaining games and wrap the players that will play in Final in cotton wool.

Smalling and Rooney have no place in the club.

Never want United to lose ever. Extremely disappointing.
Rooney was a frustrating player to watch, his selfish traits were great when he had ability but not any longer.
However all in all, we were undone by an extremely unlucky goal that ruined the game plan.

Utter shite. Jose out, big Sam in etc...

Poor today. No ambition - if we were going to win it was going to be through a lack of mistakes, rather than an abundance of attacking quality, and that's not what I want to watch.

Utter garbage, gutless from the manager and toothless from the players, take Pogba out and we don't look like really creating anything, horrible to watch.

Not particularly bothered about that result, the focus is clear, a loss might give a few players a much needed kick up the arse. All our important players got the rest they very much needed, hope to see a few more appearances for Tuanzebe in the coming weeks, was really good today, showed why people rate him so highly.

I knew we weren't going to go full throttle today, but still hate to lose to them. Would have been fine with a draw. Two very avoidable goals, but Redknapp had it right - we got what we deserved. We didn't come to attack. We showed Arsenal too much respect, and they're far from a great side right now.

Just because your playing a weaker squad Jose doesn't mean you have to set up that squad to lose. LVG often had to play make shift sides but atleast he tried to win.

He seems to think that playing a weaker side means a free pass to lose. It doesn't.

We'll be playing CL football next season, I'm sure of it. They won't and that cnut Welbeck will continue being injured and scoring enough goals to count on one hand.

It's not that I don't mind prioritising the Europa above the league, I'm alright with that, it's the players today who showed fecking 0 desire in the second half, some of the players who won't probably even play in Europa games at all and some that still have quite big questionmarks above their heads when playtime or their future are considered.

Getting bullied by Arsenal who are equally as poor as us this season if not worse, I mean some of the guys should have a word with themselves today.

Glad that farce of an unbeaten streak is now over. Could have sent the reserve team for this one if this was how we wanted to play it.

Probably going to finish 6th, top four fight went out with a whimper in the end.

Praying we don't balls things up on Thursday

I expected it and said I wouldn't feel bad if we lost....but jeez....it still does awful to lose against what is a pretty average Arsenal side.

All I'll say, is I accept totally we are focusing on the EL....but bloody hell we better win on Thursday and get to that final.

Strange game. Good fortune for Arsenal.

Moaners will moan but Mourinho knows what he's doing and this game shouldn't be read into too much. All in for the Europa now.
If this was a one off you'd have a point. It happens in nearly every big game with José, though.

Failed to score a single goal away from home against top 6 teams. Spurs is our last chance.

If we don't win the EL this will have been a thoroughly miserable season, no better than the last. We must not feck that up now.

fecking racked off. no goal from open play in over 280 minutes of play now. never looked like scoring. the mistake in the first half that fell to rooney said it all. tuanzebe best player on the pitch for utd.

That was a very poor second half. Europa was clearly prioritised, which is fair enough, but when you're still in the race for top four by virtue of Liverpool being very average to turn in that kind of timid display at Arsenal is not good enough.

I'm so glad Rooney is leaving at the end of the season and for Christ's sake can someone teach our players how to take a decent set piece?

Why do you lock threads all the time? Where is the Mourinho thread? On page 15? Let people create new topics..

Unlucky to concede that flukey goal, else it could have worked out well bringing on Rashford and others for the last 15-20 minutes.

Tuanzebe was excellent, particularly considering he was set against Sanchez. Debut for another lad.

Move on to Vigo, that's what we are fcoused on clearly.

No suprises there. But still, it was one of the worse 90 minutes of football i've had to endure recently. I guess it was coming.

Happy for the youngsters. That's about it.

That moment when kid was best on the pitch among all those senior players...Rooney,never was his basher but dear God sooo yea feck your "if you are old enough, you good enough" shit.

When it comes to JM,never had anything against his bus parking but before you could see purpose in counters etc. This now vs top teams look proper coward mode bus parking.

Meh. Not really bothered. Priority is EL which I think we will win. No point in risking priority players.

Dreadful but we all knew Europa League was priority over the league. We draw and win the two games in EL and we are through. With the way we have played in the league all season we will likely not win enough points to finish in top 4. With that said I still think how the team played was not becoming of a Manchester United team. It seemed we were second to most balls. Far too slow in build up play. Rooney playing typically means we are not winning. That will continue for the foreseeable future. He's got to go in the summer.

The result? I don't care. Top 4 wasn't going to happen. Only a moron would have thought otherwise.

The performance? Disgraceful.

We are littered with so many players who are utter shit. It makes me sick that our standards have sunk so low, and that we've been managed so poorly that we are relying on turds like Lingard, Fellaini, Jones, Smalling, Rooney, Young. Even Carrick is past it and some still say he's a key CM for us. That says it all really. We need another clearout, but this time we need to buy smarter and not piss our money up the wall on more dross.

As for Mourinho what's the fecking point of being negative in a game like today? Anything other than a win was worthless so why not go for the 3 points?

The success of this season rests on two games in the EL.

Shit performance, but win on Thursday and this will be forgotten.

I was expecting a boring game but this was trully awful.
