Pool sign Anelka!!!

I noticed you left Heskey out of your back-up schemes.

Does this mean he will be first choice or he is too poor?

5 Strikers, one of them Anelka, 2 places... Well, actually 0 when Heskey and Owen are fit. Wouldn't want to be in that story.

I'd imagine we'll rotate the strikers now we have such a selection.

:p

Yes but I can not imagine Jari Litmanen getting many chances can he?

feck.!. If he regains the form that we all know him so well for then it will be a good signing. The guy has immense talent and despite being an arsehole as well as his brothers if GH can work with him the he will be a valuable asset.
I have always admired him as a footballer, but as a person he's a prick.
I personally think the man has lost it, but who knows, we shall see.

I agree he is dangerous on his day but I see him no more than a quick fix for Fowler as back up.

He and Owen can not play together.

Anelka is no better than van Nistelrooy.

Unfortunately no.
Shame really because I think Jari has a great football brain and certainly adds a new dimension to our team.
Just have to wait and see.

Be fair to Anelka.

He didn't do well at Real due to massive competition from the strikers.

He started off well at PSG but the then manager got sacked and the new guy came in and had a problem with Anelka. The new guy also sold a lot of players that Anelka was friends with.

He's making a new start...Liverpool haven't committed to anything...he's a back-up for Owen...he helped Arsenal win the double ahead of your lot in 1998...

Why did they sign him as soon as Baros came in?

Just confirmed. Liverpool have option to buy him after loan.

If we had signed him before Baros was given his permit we wouldn't have been able to tell the DoE that Baros will be going straight into the first team!!

This way we get both men.

Bullshit ! He didn't get on well with the former manager. Some even say he conspired to make him leave. The "new guy", Fernandez, didn't have a problem with Anelka, it's him who created problems at the end, with his attitude. You're speaking about what you don't know...

Regardless of what ppl say about Anelka @ Real, I still think he gave them the CL. They got outclassed by Bayern 3 of the 4 times they met, yet they went through due to 2 Anelka goals in the semis. The guy is a tit, but he can produce the goods. And he is a first choice striker @ the French National Team with Henry. I guess there must be a reason.

France should have David Trezeguet with Thierry Henry up front. Anelka does not have the best record for France - OK but I feel they should go with Trezeguet.

It all depends how much the managers at Anfield will tolerate the PSG reject's prima dona antics. As with most troubled athletes across many sports, they rarely change things around. It's just a matter of time.

He's not the first choice anymore. Trezeguet, Wiltord, Dugarry and Pires (who plays at a different position) are ahead of him. May be Cisse will be soon ahead of him too.

Come on. I'm Trezegol's first fan, but you know that he doesn't fit into the diamond attack employed by France

Henry-----------------------------Pires/Dugarry

Wiltord

...................Barthez........................

Thuran........Desailly.......Blanc.........Lizerazu

.......... Cisse................Henry.............

Anyone else think it'd make sense if we went ahead and signed cisse now? (yes, even though we do need a couple of defenders)
If he does play in the world cup, surely his asking price will sky rocket.

I thought we should've signed him a year ago. Now is the time - otherwise we may find ourselves in a bidding war with Juventus in the summer.

Blanc kinda retired. I suppose Dugarry and Djorkaeff would have a word with that selection. And Cisse? Let's play LeTallec while we're at it.

Yep, by giving him the boot after anelka throws a lot of tantrums, sulks and refuses to play!

Money IS an issue and you dippers don't have too much of it nowadays thanks partially to unfilled attendances

Best striker? Yeah that's true - Milan might plunge in as well with that Shevchenko chap lurking about

Anelka hasn't played much the last times, and Wiltord and Trezeguet have certainly played more than him !
I'll give you the statitics.
You can laugh about Wiltord, but without him, no European crown for France.

Same with Trezeguet.

I have always rated David Trezeguet - I remember his 110 MPH shot against Manchester United in the Champions League in 1998 - incredible.

Since he moved to Juventus there has been much pressure and didn't settle in at first but is now one of their best - he and Del Piero up front are amazing.

Unlike Softlad I don't pretend to be an expert on other clubs - what I am going on is LFC taking a £20 million loan out and not spending any money.
It is a subject raised on KrapTalk so there must be some concerns....shame eh?

Marching, the loan was at such a low apr that Liverpool stand to gain profit by simply putting it thier bank account and collecting the interest on it, good piece of business IMO
