Pool sign Anelka!!!

It's unbelieveable. I don't like this fecker but as soon as he puts on the famous red jersey, I'll be rooting for him as I would any other.

GH worked with him when he was younger so I'm sure he'll sort him out!

Does this mean he will make his debut at Anfield on Sunday against Arsenal.

Why did they sign him as soon as Baros came in?

Just confirmed. Liverpool have option to buy him after loan.

Famous Red Jersey? United would never want him. <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

he's a class act.

i've always rated him BUT he may unsettle the squad, he's a trouble maker....... lets see what happens <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

Was this a move to take the shine of Beckham making his comments?

When were these secret talks with Anelka taking place? Anelka and Owen - I must admit that is good.

I doubt Gerard Houllier will be able to turn Anelka around. He is still volatile and Houllier will have trouble with him - bad for team morale in my opinion. Can't speak English and will sulk after ten games. But good luck to him.

Surely you mean Heskey and either Anelka and Owen ;)

Anyhow, I wouldn't touch Anelka with a wooden spoon... Doesn't matter how good he can be. It's just not worth it.

Poor Litmanen is probably going to be fifth choice now.

Don't say that... i know its the season of goodwill but........... <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

I don't know about that. GH is the opposite of Wenger. A very strict disciplinarian.

So is PSG's Fernandez... Anelka may be beyond turning from the dark side.

Anelka and Thommson will clash. He'll be in the doghouse before GH even comes back. I'm ecstatic though. This definitely means that Cisse won't be going to Unfilled. :D

Well, Nic Anelka is only there on a loan, though Liverpool can sign him in June if they want, but Anelka will probably get fed up of Anfield by February. :D

Everton fan says he is glad Liverpool signed Anelka and I agree. He points out he shows occasional touches of genius but surly when things go wrong. A 2002 Faustino Asprilla. :)

He doesn't rate Heskey, so although he may be bitter it makes sense. ;)

I'm taking bets on who will fall first in Thompson Vs. Anelka. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Only world class or young future world class strikers please.

who said anything about signing a 'striker'?

heskey will do wonders for our defence ;)

Great bit of business that, he's definitely a quality player.

Owen, Heskey, Baros and Anelka

Looking good. ;)

Unbelievable.

TalkSport are comparing this situation to that of Eric Cantona's. <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> .

Houllier can not transform someone like a young Nic Anelka who is under the influence of his brothers.

he´ll disrupt the oh so great team spirit in no time ...

Anelka - Volatile Child.

Michael Owen - Liverpool's only Quality Striker.

Heskey - Granted, Good Defender.

Jari Litmanen - Good but doesn't play.

<img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" /> World Class. I am sure defences are trembling in their boots. ;)

Liverpool must be skint if they are in for loan players
<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

A no risk signing for the dippers. If he bombs then they can send him back to PSG at the end of the year. If he works out (highly unlikely) then they can pay them a transfer fee.

Nic Anelka is also extraordinarily over-rated.

He had two good seasons at Arsenal and flopped in Spain and France.

Mistake by Houllier, a panic buy of the highest standard.

Agreed. After all the joking I must admit this is a sound and shrewd investment by Houllier - it could break up team morale in a vital time for Liverpool though.

Why did PSG want to loan him out? Did he fall-out or did he just bomb out?

I doubt Anelka will play against Arsenal on Sunday as he still has a medical to complete... :( Would have loved to see him face Wenger. :D

True. However, the English game suits him. But I think he's ridiculous to come back after all his complaints about the British media...

Yes. He has pace and he and Owen will frighten Defenders but the question is can they play together? I don't think they are compatible.

I don't see Liverpool using 2 direct strikers. Probably one of them plus defensive-striker Heskey.

Don't think he's going to be anything more than 'a fowler', a direct backup for Owen.

Good day for us I reckon. Up until now it looked a bit bleak if Owen got injured.

Now we have Baros, Litmanen and Anelka to step in. :D
