I did exactly the same.

I remember calling my friend from school at his shop (you can all guess which type of shop this happened to be) in order to help me when i got stuck.

I actually started playing Fire Red on my laptop a few weeks ago to relieve me from the fact i don't have my 360 or PS3 out here. I named my Bulbasaur, "Berbatov"

Me and my mates were on a cruise to Belgium, and on the ship/boat/yacht/whatever the correct term is, I made them all watch the Pokemon movie.
 
I thought i was the only sad act who still played these games. Gold was my favourite from the series as you could go back to the original games continent at the end and fight a pseudo version of yourself ontop of a mountain.

And is it sad that I'm actually quite proud?

BTW where did you download the old Red/Blue game? I've been meaning to whip out the old gameboy and have another crack at the game. But I can't seem to find it ATM.
 
red and blue were classics. Went down hill after they tried to introduce all this time bollocks. Havign to wait til wednesday for a shop to open or summit, feck off. Should have just stuck to the same format as the first games but made the world a hundred times bigger and introduced about 10 bazillion new pokemon types (give or take).
 
Nintendo should do a Pokemon MMORPG, everyone just roams the 3D world collecting pokemon and challenging each other. Could see it competing with even World of Warcraft, shame Nintendo hates online though and would never do it.

That is essentially what they have done. The 'time bollocks' was hardly a change to the format.
 
The only time thing i liked was the night and day aspect from gold and silver.

Will PM you the links shortly, because i don't think it's quite so legal. Keep in mind that they are the GBA remakes, with more pokémon added and other new features.

It got a bit annoying after the first 150 tbh, i couldn't really keep up with the newer ones. But, thered be no point in them making new games if they didn't add more so it's all justified. I remember there was a time that i could name all 150.

Red and Blue were bugged as feck though, and unbalanced. Gold and Silver as basically Red and Blue done competently.

Everyone else I knew could get Level 150 Pokemon doing that, but they never came up on mine except for that weird M thing that looked a lot like Missingno.

Yeah, it was all fun and games with Missingno, until you caught it and it evolved into a level 1 Kangaskhan and fecked up your save. :(
 
Definitely picking both of them up on Friday, I love the Pokémon games so I always get them. Me and my fiancée will play one each and have a damn good time doing so :D Hoping to trade-in a load of old games though as well to cut the costs.. I think they're far from kids games if you look at all the aspects of the game. It's just that the cartoon and loads of other crap gave it more of a kids image. There is plenty in the series to keep the older fans happy.

Since there could be a few of us getting this, I'll ask.. Who has Wi-Fi? Haha. I'd love to do some kind of battle tournament on here or something, I think that could be fun. On Wi-Fi there's also a auto-level feature, so you can make your Pokémon instantly level 100, thus removing the need to grind six to that level before you face someone. They keep all of their moves and get the stats they would have at that level, and once you're out of the battle room they're returned to their original level.

Obviously there'd have to be rules and restrictions, but I know the ones the general tournaments used... It just depends if enough people are interested in one.

and I have the egg with me too. Just got my first gym badge. Called my pidgey Antonio (Valencia) as he is a winger, bird, wings..
 
No offense mate, but naming your pokemon after footballers is just stupid.

Ha, I can't believe I just typed those words.
 
It reminds me of when I was 10 and did it..

I admit, it's stupid.. But meh.

I played it at school today, and my pokewalker fell out of my pocket infront of the class I was teaching. Luckily they are 5-7 so I was cool for having it, not sad..

It let you play gameboy games through the snes and on the tele. It was bloody brilliant back in the day playing Link's Awakening on the big screen.
