Gaming Pokémon Strumfest

I'm finding this game a bit too easy so far, 4.5 hours in, I've made it to the cave at the end of Route 10 (I think) and I haven't lost a single battle. My Braixen is incredible and Ivysaur isn't too shabby either, I'm barely using any other Pokemons at the minute though. I think I need to take another approach or else I'm going to stroll past trainers with ease and there won't be much challenge.

It's highly enjoyable but I need some challenge!

It's the same with every Pokemon game Sarni. You can bulldoze the game with 1-2 good Pokemon. The key is to raise a team of 5-6, and maybe pick Pokemon with poor stats. I always bulldoze a game the first time, and then raise a crap team in the second run through. Much more rewarding!

I see. It's been ages since I last played a Pokemon game and I'm loving this one.

What happens when the story is over though? Do I get to develop my Pokemons further or is this pretty much done and I have to play it over? I can't say I've been particularly drawn in by the story line, it all seems a bit pointless so far, the whole fun in the game lies in finding Pokemons you want to have in your collection and improving their stats more than anything I guess.

This one has been particularly easy, I've just finished the Elite 4 and haven't lost a single battle. That being said I've never wanted to just collect and breed before like I have in this one so...

You keep playing mate. Always more to do after the story is over. I enjoy the battle factory etc (if that is in X/Y) a lot. I can't wait to play this one later!

Anyone wants their pokemon to get infected with pokerus? I've been slowing infecting my team with it, so I could pass it to you guys via trading.

I've become addicted to Wonder Trade, never seen so many Weedles since Viridian Forest!

On the upside though, I got a bunch of gold. A lv. 17 Modest Braxien, a neutral nature Charmander, a Fennekin, which I traded in the GTS for a Chespin, Scyther, which I traded for a Squirtle, that new bat-dragon thing(Noivern, I think it's called), two Tyrunt, one of which I traded for a Amaura(sp?). Bunch of other good, acceptable and pokedex fillers, but I can't think of them all now.

Really? It's been a piece of shit for me! Too many people with the same idea as me. Which is, 'i'll trade this shite lvl 3 Caterpie and i'll bet i get a Bulbasaur in return!'. And the worst part is you have to live with the shame of getting dicked over by some Japanese bird because she goes on your 'acquaintances' list.

 It could have been worse, it could have had loads of puzzles like the Ice Path.
I liked the ice puzzles...
I've just got my 4th gym badge. It was piss easy again, Honedge tearing shit up. He evolved as well, he's Doublade now. Just need a Dusk Stone to evolve him for the last time.

Also got Charmeleon's affection up to max. Not sure why i've done that though because sooner or later i'm going to have to box one of him or Blaziken and at the minute, it's looking more like it'll be Charmeleon.
I have the third from, tbh don't much like it, wish I kept it as a Doublade with and Eviolite.

Oh yeah, tonne of fecking Caterpies and shit, but man, every now and then a gem pops out of nowhere, thinking of swapping out my Blaziken for that Braxien now.

Problem is, I have an entire box of pokemon I'd like to train up, just about to head to Victory Road, think I'll grind a bunch into their final forms first though, as I've not got a full team I'm happy with now, and I'm using the Legendary which I don't normally like to do.

Oh, on route 10, look for a Hawlucha, if you need a fighting pokemon, not special stat wise, but good lord it's fun, and useful! :D Plus, it learns a move that is two types at once, which is weird as feck.

What is the deal with the starters on this, as in from previous generations. I know you can get the Kanto starters, but what about Johto, Hoenn and all the other generation games?

Yeah i read about that Hawlucha, heard it was supposed to be pretty good. Does it have flying type moves too? And can it learn Fly? I'm sorta looking to replace my Pidgeot because it's a bit shit to be honest. I still need to get something to replace Charizard as well, i'm still running around with two Fire type Pokemon!

Yeah, it has flying moves too, and can learn Fly, my Fly pokemon is a Farfetch'd, I don't carry it around unless I need to fly someplace, or to Cut. Still, it's leveled to it's forties because of the new Exp Share.

It's signature move, Flying Press, is Fighting and Flying.

I've taken the plunge, I plan on starting with the grass based Pokemon, then getting the Torchic from the event and then Squirtle from the Kanto starters. Once I have Ditto, I will breed and trade if anyone else has the other starters...?

We won't know till some sort of guide or something comes out, I mean Kanto and Hoenn starters were given out in SS/HG very late game. I hope there is some sort of way to get them though, I hate pokemon that's impossible to get in certain generations, pretty lousy.

I have them all, aside from Bulbasaur which someone here is sorting me, I caught a Ditto yesterday and started breeding the starters so I'll have some spare.

Nice, well i caught one. He's like level 24 now and i'm just taking him around with me so that he starts to level up a bit. Hopefully he can catch up to my other Pokemon!

Nice one, have you beaten all the Gyms and the Elite Four and whatnot then? I thought i'd read somewhere that you can only get Ditto when you'd 'beaten' the game.

Yeah I have, but you can catch a Ditto right before the 8th gym, such a useful Pokemon.

Just bought this game! Can anyone tell me where to redeem the torching mystery gift?!

On the main menu of the game it will say "Mystery Gift". Choose that and the internet option and it will be there for you to collect from a Pokemon center.

Pokemon Village? I didn't see one yet, but I didn't dig in a few of those late areas.

Possibly my fave pokemon of the gen, tbh.

Weird?! Maybe I can't see the main menu, because I see no mention of the mystery gift

Yeah Pokemon Village, that's weird I come across them all the time there! Only caught the one though, I forgot how they take on the catch rate of the pokemon they transform into.

feck just came across Moltres in the long grass, it fled before I could even pick a move!

I've read that whichever bird is in your game will flee until it reaches a certain place. When it gets there it lands and you can battle it properly. Basically you have to chase it.

Look, i'll have you know i'm the chosen one alright? So don't be dissing my superior Pokemon trainer tactics aight?

Chosen one chooses one move. Sense.

Tbh, I use Oblivion Wing whenever I can, brilliant animation.

Yeah, i always seem to find one good one on each Pokemon and treat it as my go to move. Obviously if that isn't working i change things up but so far this game has been that easy that spamming one good move usually does it. Although i guess it's not really spamming when you one shot the opponent
