Going to be a tight one unless we start producing results against non-shite teams. Liverpool have an extremely favourable run-in, and Newcastle are having their purple patch at the perfect time.

Our remaining games:

We'll get the 12 points. Just a shame yet again we'll shit ourselves until the end as usual.

Let's be honest if we can't get 4 wins from that then we don't deserve it. And we might not even need that much by the end of it all.

Will be great to have another thread to discuss this in, nice one.

Pretty good idea to have a countdown thread. How many points needed and how many games to do it in.

We should be getting at least 12 from those 7, and thats assuming the teams around us win every game until the end of the season.

Brighton can finish on 73 points, so we need 14 points at the moment.

They wont, though. They face all of the current top 4 in their last games.

I was just being a smart arse - top 4 discourse has been done to death on here of late but yes this thread works fine.

I think we'll wobble this week to get everyone jittery then do it with two games to spare

Looking at our run it it’s very favourable. We could do with a win against Villa though, as Liverpool could be 1-2 point behind us prior to the Brighton game which means we’ll shit the bed.

Technically yeah but realistically only Liverpool have the capability to even reach 71 points, and for them it requires winning every game (doable but unlikely). Spurs and Brighton and villa won't get there.

If you look at Brighton's remaining fixtures it would take an absolutely astonishing run to get maximum points (73 points) for them when they have to face United, Arsenal, Villa, Newcastle and City.

Realistically we need to win 4 games. Very achievable.

Thread is nice but those Kick Off times are all wrong. You've let us all down.

Grand scenario would be just needing 3 points after the Wolves games (which affords one loss before then). Think that should be the target (well the target should be to win the next 4 games, but you know what I mean - winning 3 out of the next 4 feels a bit more realistic)

I'm very worried about it. If we draw on Sunday, Liverpool beat Spurs and then Fulham they will only be 2 points behind before we play Brighton. I'm not very confident.

3 wins, 3 draws and a loss works. Ideally if we are to lose, it's against Brighton for them to have an outside chance af top 4 versus Newcastle.

12 points are assuming Liverpool are perfect. Do you think they will be? Yes, they have picked up some form, but it’s still been a very up and down season for them and they also face Spurs and Villa.

One loss for them and it’s suddenly only 9 points. We will get there.

We'd have 2 games in hand to be fair. Pressure would be on though.

Nice run in. 3 home wins and we’re all but there.

This is probably the best line of thought, or 2 Home Wins plus 3 points from the 3 Away games. So not losing to Villa is important, a Win is even better.

Technically, we only need 10 points, hopefully can reach that goal with 2 games to spare.

I'd be happy with 6 points from the next 4 games. Even 3 points from the next 4 gives us a what should be straightforward 9 from the last 4 games.

Its done for me. How can anyone be worried Liverpool will get above us is mindboggling.

Since when have we started shatting our pants thinking about playing Villa at home? Jeez.

Shatting our pants no however their deserve their due respects. Villa currently on the longest unbeaten streak at the moment in the PL, joint with Manchester City on 10 games unbeaten. They won in Old Trafford in the league last season, United's form in the last three games (Sevilla,Brighton,Spurs) was far from great either.

Don't really agree with the description. It'll be perfectly fine, and by a generous margin, as long we take those last five games against weaker teams. Do that, and we can amply afford to lose against Villa and Brighton.

I dread to think what this place would be like if we were only a point or two ahead at this point! We’re six points clear with two games in hand for goodness sake. Our qualification couldn’t be more comfortable! Why does everyone assume the likes of Liverpool will suddenly run into championship winning form? There’s a reason teams like them and Tottenham are floundering so far behind us! Relax everyone!

They’re having their typical late season charge, whereas we are struggling, both of the centre backs are injured and Casemiro has turned into McCasemiro

Simply need to win all our home games and not lose at Brighton or Bournemouth. You would think that would be straightforward but with this bunch of cotton candy spine players and a naive manager, you never know.

How are they? In April they’ve been hammered by City, drew against Arsenal and Chelsea and just scraped wins against Forest and West Ham.
The only convincing win was against Leeds who are terrible.

Imho we will secure Top 4 by beating Chelsea. I hope Fat Frank is still in charge when we play them

Because they battered Leeds they look better than they actually are. In recent games they didnt have a cleansheet and far from dominating... wouldnt surprise me if they lose/draw a few games till the end of season. And we are still ahead of them having played less games.

We had the same thing a couple of years ago when they struggled earlier in the season. We got all excited then they grind out a couple of wins and then go on a run to secure top 4.

I think they are on 3 in a row now, and their remaining fixtures aren’t so bad for them.

Scraping wins against shit teams is what they always do when they go on big runs.

I'm sure there were Leicester fans who said 'United have been shite all season, they won't suddenly find title winning form and finish ahead of us'.

And then we got 20 out of 24 and did finish ahead of them.

Our form this month has been just as good, I don’t get the sudden panic.

So just to confirm ... every other team in with a shout will get max points between now and the end of the season whilst United will no doubt implode ?

Why do people think like this.

It is similar kind of thinking to "If Ronaldo didn't score all those goals, we would be relegated". Boggles the mind.
