Pogba's house burgled during the game...

There was an article about these burglaries a few months back. Essentially boils down to young men who will pay thosands on a watch that will go in a safe for the next decade, but wont spend money on the right amount of security.

That doesnt mean these will stop. These arent Reg from the Dog and Duck in his wooly hat. They're sophisticated and work from abroad. But if you have proper good protection, chances are they'll simply pick an easier target.

Should do what Fergie did. Have ex-SAS protecting your house. Notice you never hear of Fergie getting burgled?

 if anyone thinks Pogba and his wife left their toddler children alone they are fecking barmy

It's worded very oddly.
But questions are who was there, how were they "burglarized" (is that a word?) with someone there etc etc.

You rarely hear about footballers getting robbed except when there are games on, so if they didn't want to pay out for 24/7, you'd think they could at least cover the cost of a few hours, once or twice a week.

Do other members of his family live there? Or was it just the babysitter?

And what info is he asking for, from the public? Is anyone sitting in a pub and boasting about stealing Pogba's WC medal?

I can’t be arsed doing the maths but I can’t imagine it’d cost more than a couple of million to have security at all first team players houses paid for by the club.

According to @IrishRedDevil it's 120K a year, times the amounts of players. So let's say 25 = 3m. It's basically nothing for the players and nothing for the club.

Crazy the amount of times this happens to footballers. Do they not have 24/7 security?

Even on all our building sites, we pay for 24/7 manned security. Seems insane that professional footballers don’t have it to protect their loved ones and homes.

The presence of a couple of men in the residence makes a huge difference. I doubt they would even need ex special forces types.

Seriously, how are top clubs not providing round the clock security for their players - especially when there's a game on?

Prob because outside of football the club are not responsible for the players safety anymore than the company you work for are responsible for your home security when you at work.

Not always true, many companies provide sheltered/protected accommodation for employees - particularly those that require employees overseas with their families for X amount of time.

fecking rough. And on his birthday, was it not?

Isn't it high time the club arranged private security for all the players?

I'd heard some talk in recent weeks that they had done so or were considering it in the wake of the burglary at Lindelof's.

Hope everyone is ok. Burglars are scummy.

It could be implied from what Pogba said and yes, some stupid people have been known to leave their infants alone at home. It wouldn't be the first time in history
Pogba and his wife rushed home because 3 year old Labile Shakur got on the blower and told him what was happening

Sounds non-committal.

You do know there are alarms that can be tripped by burglars right ? In our crazy world, why is it seen as next to impossible that some people can be careless like that ?

We are already paying them premium wages. They should be able to pay for private security. Most of our senior players would be able to pay for a year's security for 2 weeks worth of wages.

True, but it's also a recruitment tool.

"We'll cover your home security for free, you get to keep an extra 120K in your pocket"

Good selling point.

I had one of those computer narrated united youtube channels on in the background and I was more interested in the $25k dog Rashford had supposedly purchased for security.

Is this why Rashford is out of form? Goes home anda gets bullied by some big feck-off dog

1) I hope they find the bastards who did this. This is becoming too recurrent in recent years.

2) Find better ways to get home security beefed up.

3) For the love of God, never leave your kids unattended. Get a babysitter or a relative to watch over them.

It’s a bit different to the hypothetical job you’re comparing (though there are plenty of jobs where the company is responsible for your home security) , you’re always on the clock. You’re always representing the club, and you don’t really get to lead a separate life, and you have limits on what you can do outside of ‘work’. You wouldn’t be able to go on a skiing holiday and shit like that (often even at academy level). If players are consistently being targeted in these scenarios, the club has a responsibility to protect their assets.

Some clubs do, and I imagine with a club and player as high profile as Manchester United and Paul Pogba there’s probably at least been a conversation regarding security matters.

Multi millionaire footballers going cap in hand to there employers asking for them to pay for private security? Are you actually serious? They get paid more than enough to organise and pay for there own security should they so feel like doing.

The fact that they shouldnt have to is a different matter.

Why should clubs provide security for players who earn millions? Surely it’s the player’s responsibility?

Perhaps, and I know that many do. I just think with the growing cases, particularly in Manchester, it might be a worthwhile thing to do especially if it starts to put players off the area.

Not just England. I’m fairly sure it happened to Smalling in Rome not long ago.
It happens all around Europe. I think at this point players need to bite the bullet and make sure to have that security around the clock. Not all of them live in houses, and it's definitely gotta be different living with security all the time, but these kind of stories really are awful, some even more nefarious people could have harmed the kids, even if a nanny was around.

I think that's likely to be the main reason why some have been hesitant to pick it up. E

Not a multimillionaire who is risking jail time by leaving his kids unattended. It's completely nonsensical that they are left alone.
