He's out and for how long who knows? I can see him going in Jan if the right money comes in for him, I think we could get 2 very good CM in his place. It's a shame really because there's a top player in him, somehow he's just not showing it, maybe better for both parties if he leaves.

In January, it will be very difficult to replace him as few clubs would be willing to sell

For his perfomances on the pitch, I don't think he's worth that asking price. If he gets it, it's for his potential and marketing value.
Yea but hes young anymore, hes not expected to improve much.

Anyone else think we've seen the last of Pogba? Feels like it's been ages.

I wonder how many games this season he will be injured or “injured” for? Randomly bumping into Zidane for a chat while holidaying in Dubai must have been a nice coincidence.
we are over a barrel if he plays this kind of game as we will have to get rid on the cheap.

He was on crutches in that photo with Zidane. He's not faking injury. I myself don't like him that much and think he's overrated, but let's not get ridiculous here.

What are you talking about? That's not a crutch. That's one of dem giant pens they use to sign oversized cheques. Pogba is clearly signing a pre-contract.

Replace him? He's not even playing anyway so what difference would it make if he's contracted to us or another club.

IF he does end up leaving in summer, how about getting Casimiro included in the deal? He’d be our Kante/Ndidi allowing any ballers to go play, especially if we added Havertz or Maddison

It’s ironic really - he’s our most talented player, yet we seem to play better without him......don’t know if it’s that he tries too hard or others around him believe the hype but I’m now coming to the conclusion that cashing in and replacing with a less egotistical player but with quality will enable us to take one step back to take two forward - without the circus and the dramas

obvious the corporate side don’t want to see the back of him for his commercial value but he really isn’t a cog that fits this team and as we’re not gonna see him for another month we have to adjust to life without him earlier.....then as he returns all the RM rumours will start to surface in time for January......

I think Ole will be quite stubborn on this and will fight till the end for him to stay. Personally I’m coming around to the idea that if he left it probably wouldn’t be the worse thing to happen, We just need good replacements and if we are looking at the likes of Tonoli and Havertz those 2 if they play to their ability would Probably be better for us than 1 Pogba.
It all depends on who we would bring in.

His time has been up here for a while.

He doesn't want to be here, he never plays to his potential, his work rate is poor and he often looks the shadow of the player he can be.

To be frank, he's a media circus and we would be better off without him. How many seasons are we expected to put up with sub par performances waiting for him to magically come good?

Talented he is, the right fit for us he is not. Some of his decision making and performances belong in league 1 not the premier league.

Madrid will be signing a very over hyped commercially attractive person, not a world class footballer. They are welcome to him in my opinion

I love reading this thread.

Full of Desiah and Pashun

We would only be better off without him if we buy 1-2 top class midfielders because he is comfortably our best midfielder at the moment and it is not close.

He will get better as soon as the transfer window comes near.

Exactly. If we use the money we get from him wisely and buy a defensive and an attacking midfielder then we'll be a better team for it. Probably still need another midfielder for depth on top of that if Matic goes too. It'll probably cost us close to £200m but the sale of Pogba and Matic will likely cut that down to about £50m, 3 midfielders (AM, CM, DM) plus McTominay, Fred and Garner will do us fine.

Though honestly I doubt we'll be making 3 midfield signings in one window, maybe we'll sign one in January? I just hope the club has a succession plan in place for the eventual departure of Pogba.

Just sell him in the summer, and lets move on. When he really wants to, he is a fantastic player. But far to often he is average for us. Sell him to Real or whoever wants to pay 125 million pounds for him in the summer.
Pogba and Matic out, promote Garner, send Levitt on loan for a season, and then sign Kai Havertz, Denis Zakaria and Kalvin Phillips in stead. And then we are in a far better position than now.

Sell him to the highest bidder in the summer, PSG, Real, or Juventus. If we can get 130/140 million for him, bring in Havertz and Soumare. Then sell Pereira, Fred, Mata and Matic, and bring in a RW.

he's a classic example of when he's sold he will be replaced by player(s)who technically aren't as good as him, but will ultimately make the team better.

Absolutely zero chance we’ll be this efficient in the market. We’ll sell him and the Glazers will pocket £100m of it, then we’ll bring in one player as a replacement, probably an overpriced English CM. Ultimately we’ll probably be better off keeping him.

Even if that would be true.. what would be the problem with that? Pogba playing well basically delivered Ole his job.

Just to be sure... when Pogba plays well, you are just going to claim he does it earn a transfer? He literally cant do anything right for the Pogba-out brigade

Can't think of many examples of selling your best player and replacing them with a worse player, and being better?

You could argue the sales of Hughes, kanchelski and ince, replacing them with no one apart from a certain group of youth team players and winning the double?

For what we potentially could get for Pogba, we could get Soumare and Maddison. Neither player as good as Pogba when he's on form, but we'd have a better balance in midfield between attack and defensive cover.

How about instead of selling Pogba and replacing him with 2 worse midfielders, we try everything to keep him and sign a top midfielder to dictate the game and play Pogba in that 'loose' position, not exactly a 10 but he has freedom to affect the game with less defensive responsibilities.

Struggling to decipher how selling him and replacing him with one or two of Ndidi, Madisson, Soumare, Havertz etc. makes any sense. Havertz may become world class, but Pogba is in a completely separate league from these guys in terms of ability and how he can impact the game. If we keep playing him in a midfield 2, he will never reach the potential that he has for this club as it's just not his position.

United need to figure out where's best to play him, and we need to buy players to balance out a midfield with Pogba in it. Think of that Juventus midfield he was in. Pirlo, Vidal and Pogba. Pirlo, the dictator and DLP, fills a role that Pogba can't. Vidal, box to box, tackler, but a great passer and all round midfielder. Lastly, Pogba, his game at Juve was defined in moments of brilliance, an unbelievable pass or distance goal.

The problem here is that we expect Pogba to fill all of those roles when he's in the team. It's just not possible and he's always going to fall below our expectations as our midfield has been so shocking around him

If he wants to leave then let him. You can't force a player to stay. It would be an absolute shame because he is one of our top players but I don't really feel we've had the return on the investment we made by signing him. No doubt commercially he has probably been successful, I'm sure someone will point to shirt sales etc. but that isn't what is the most important aspect of signing a footballer, performances and trophies are ultimately what he'll be judged on, not how much he makes in commercial revenue.

I think solskjaer would be happy to sell to highest bidder if he felt pogba wasn't committed. We've seen glimpses of a functional United with mctominay Fred and pereira so I'm sure ole is confident that with a 140m upgrade on 2 of those that he'd improve us while losing pogba

We are all entitled to our opinions mate.

Weird one with Pogba, on his day he is a world beater but more often than not he looks like he does not give a shit and can't be assed. If he stays then great buy 1/2 midfielders and give him a free role, Pogba McTominay and someone like Allan or Partey could work very very well. Pogba would have licence to roam, McTominay looks like he is developing into a very good number 8 and Partey or Allan can sit and dictate games.

Saying that, if Madrid are stupid enough to offer us what 90M plus Bale (if that is true, I would ask for Isco rather than Bale) then I wouldn't lose any sleep at all, go to Madrid, become a scapegoat there and we will happily take Isco of their hands and use the 80M to buy a world class DMC, happy days.

As long as the deal/replacements are correct then personally could not give a toss if he is sold, if he stays then we need to buy the correct midfielder to basically do what Kante does for him for France, take on both work loads and let him crack on.

Soumare yes, but is he even fit to lace up Pogba's boots? we will see.

Maddison isn't going to cost less than £100m. Will we get that for Pogba? you'd hope so but with his contract running low it's looking less likely.

Why do we keep worrying about Pogba offering more defensive cover? he does his fair share of the work. Our defence isn't even our issue, it's scoring goals.

We statistically score more goals with Pogba in the team, which is why replacing him with a worse player won't help at all.

Let's be honest here - i'd say 80% of the people in this thread want him gone because he's flirted with Madrid. While i'm not happy about it either, I don't blame him and I don't hold it against him.

Think it is all down to who will pay the money for him rather than him staying now. He wants out, so we should let him go. Not good to hold on to a player who wants out. I just hope that any monies we receive for him is spent wisely.

It’s actually bizarre... some people criticised Kane for staying at Spurs. Citing a lack of ambition and being happy with a pay bump. But people expect the likes of Pogba, soon Martial if has a great season, to want to stay despite us being much further away from winning anything then Spurs.

Don’t give me that “we’re Man Utd we can get back to where we were 6 years ago very quickly” Liverpool thought the same thing in 91, 92, 93, they were still saying the same thing in 96, 97, 98, and into 2001, 2002, even in 2011 the way they spoke was like they still hadn’t grasped that 20 years had passed, in that time Blackburn won and got relegated, Arsenal won playing attractive football, Chelsea and City emerged
