In my opinion he stays. Due to the fact that no one has the financial power to pay his fee during this window and he may have potentially received some reassurances from Ole.

I'm still undecided as to whether this is a good thing or not.

If we were to buy a suitable partner for him and create a more balanced midfield, I could see him having a cracker of a season and propelling us into one of the top 3 positions in the league.

However, if those reinforcements do not arrive, it will be the same old same old next season. Only this time the media will ramp things up due to the circus that we have already had this summer.

My gut feeling says he's off next summer anyway.

I do agree with you but I think Real will push to offload (James, Isco & Ceballos) and recoup some of the money to get Pogba. Bale won't leave for sure unless he considers China but he loves life in Spain.... He spends most of his time getting massages on the physios table while he earns around 500k/ week. No other team will offer him good wages....

If Pogba remains, United will have to try and get him extended as his price will only drop and also an unhappy Pogba means that he will do the bare minimum as he did so when Mourinho was in charge.

Agreed. Sensible to get another player in to take the burden off Pogba becuase if his game is off our main creative outlet gets nullitied.

Yes.

Some kind of creative outlet. I've argued before that said outlet doesn't have to be a (deeper) CM (think Pirlo/Juve) - it could also be an attacking midfielder (Bruno).

I'm thinking some kind of diamond-ish setup with Pogba in a less rigid role on the left - and someone like Bruno as the tip.

Matic (Longstaff?)
McTominay (Fred)--------------------------Pogba (Pereira)
Bruno (Mata)

Rashford (Lukaku) --------Martial (Greenwood)

I like to your optimism in the bold part in bold. I fear that next season we will have a bad season but we get the new signings in and they gel well. I think Pogba will be off next summer, I think Real may not be able to afford him this year and we will give him his new £500,00) a week contract then he he will be off, next time Real come calling.

I think that type of setup could work but I fear Matic' legs are not going to hold out hence the need for someone to cover. Not sure if Longstaff would be up to that role should we happen to sign him as I've not seen him play. But time will tell. Hoping we get Bruno in soon. Think that team could get us a lot goals.

Tbh it's @balaks and that guy is obsessed with Pogba and not in good way. Just read his posts on Pogba and it's too obvious.
Was just asking a genuine question, interested to hear how Utd fans are feeling about it. For the record I think Pogba has been a liability for you guys and will be better off rid.

Well I didn't say that based on 1 post. Yeah, player who scores, assists so many goals and create chances is a clear liability.

Tbh I could live with an off season as long as it represented progress. Even if we just about scraped 4th but play some cohesive football and start to look like an actual team, I'll be happy.

Ideally our players will gel well and we can just add some top quality players next summer.

Yeah Pogba leaving next season is a banker. Hopefully he gives us a proper season that puts us in a decent position to kick on

Even with those sales can they really afford him? They've already spent over €300 million.

Yeah I do agree with you though. He definitely needs to sign a new contract. I feel that we may have promised him that he can leave next summer, a la Ronaldo, so he shouldn't be too unhappy if that's the case

Sigurdsson has 26 and 22. So it's almost identical but Are you really saying he's a midfielder?

As for 'absurdly underwhelming'......well we have been haven't we ? Since saf left us. Every single player has been and every single year has been. And we now have a squad of underwhelming players where only 2/3 would be considered by top clubs. So for a midfielder to boast the highest stats for goals/assists suggests he isn't the problem.

The problem is 'fans' who see 'world record fee' and refuse to recognise football is also a team sport and our team is

1. Substandard
2. Better with Pogba

In parts:
1. Yes, I'm saying Sigurdsson is a midfielder. Are you saying he's not?
2. It doesn't matter if Pogba has the most goals and assists on the team. It only proves that he's better than Jesse Lingard . It's still underwhelming. And if he wasn't on pens (he got 8 goals from that alone) his stats would be even worse.
3. Laugh at the notion that his transfer fee is not an issue. Any employer will demand results according to how costly the employee is. Pogba was not hired to be our best player. He was hired to be world class, and that he has been not.

PS. I dismiss your sarcasm as referring to me as a fan between quotes. If anything, I am the one defending the club over a player who has leeched us, delivered way less than he could and now wants to leave when we are down to add insult to injury.

Absolutely. Let's see how great we are when the toxic Pogba leaves. People enjoy the midfield of Scott, Matic and Fred. We lost 2 midfielders already and losing Pogs too? Are we going to sign 3 others.....no chance. Some on here need a reality check as this might be the worse team since SAF. Pogs or Rom might be not fans favourite but who's going to score the 25+ goals walking out the door.....?

I think this season we should't expect to much just hope we do well. It will be interesting to see who else we sign. I definitely agree with the part in bold, I just want to see us progress and see what Ole's style of play is like after a full preseason.

I agree on Pogba also, if he stays he plays consistently to the best of his ability and doesn't jog about and moan. As Ole says it is a building process which is going to take some time, so I am willing to be patient as long as the signs are there that we progressing. I think if we get the right players in and they gel well top 4 is in reach this year. Providing we do that we should be a more appealing proposition to quality players next summer then keep on building from there hopefully mate.

One positive is when Ole said "I want a Man Utd team to be one of the hardest working, fittest teams and that will bring results" I hope this happens and the results improve accordingly.

name the world class players you know that aren't surrounded by quality team-mates

I naively used the Ballon D'or ranking and I would say that Pogba and Hazard are the only ones.

Will he give 100%.
Will he cause more unrest with the other players. I would rather he be sold and rebuild Now.

If we give that contract nobody will be able to afford his wages and he is staying. For very long.

I'm not convinced he will give 100% should he stay and he may cause unrest which is the last thing we need right now in the middle of a rebuild.
We need hungry, focused players who are willing to use up every bit of energy and willing to give their last drop of sweat for the cause, which I don't think he will do and for these reasons, I am of the same opinion that I rather we sell him and rebuild now like you said mate.

Is that a joke? Bale isn't even the best player in his club.

Sure, his club were on track to lose the CL final to a team with Karius in goal until the Welsh maestro emerged from the bench to score a spectacular brace and break the Kloppites hearts. Of course because the Spanish media are racist as feck he got no credit and instead they gave all the credit to Ramos for being a dirty cnut and fecking up Salah.

I'm really hoping that we don't give him that contract mate. That is the figure I've read we are supposedly offering him and I hope it's not true as I agree nobody else is going to be able to give him those wages which are astronomical by any standard and something which I definitely think he doesn't deserve.

You don't think that there is a small hint here? And you are talking about the team with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Yet is was Gareth who scored the goals to win the trophy and not for the first time in his stay at Real. With CR7 gone to Juventus he was the only class player left in that squad as evidenced by the fact that they bombed last year and Zidane only came back after getting assurances he could buy half a new first team in his first window.

what unrest has Pogba caused with the other players?

Yep, the only unrest is from Martial saying why did Pogs think he could escape this shit team yet leave me behind after just signing this contract. Pogs for me is like that good player on your school team who's off sick, the unrest is you know the teams shite without him.....

So you are going to genuinely argue that Gareth Bale at Real Madrid didn't had quality teammates? I'm lost of words.

Totally agree pal, nice to see some optimism on here for once haha

Well I might be biased as a result of being Welsh but he was honestly the most gifted player in that team last year.

It doesn't matter if I agree but it's not the question that you were asked. The question was which world class player doesn't have quality teammates. It would have been daft to mention a Real Madrid player this season and it's even worse when you are referring to Real Madrid with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Imo he will sign another contract, stay another year and the move to Madrid.

The unrest he has caused are concerning his bonuses which are supposedly £50,000 per goal scored and £20,000 per goal created, which the rest of the team don't get get which has supposedly caused some animosity.

When did that happen?

I did say last year, Ronaldo played for Juve last year and poor Gareth was stuck with donkeys like Isco and Benzema.
