We've got De Gea in the last year of his contract, mercenaries like Rojo still at the club despite hardly playing a game in 2 seasons. It's not exactly giving the impression the club is in a positive place and has a plan for winning trophies is it.

Personally, I would have given him and Raiola a deadline of first day of preseason - money from his suitors or that's it. Problem for Pogba is that Real have now spent most of their transfer kitty, so they won't pay the £150m we will be asking for. No way back for him with the fans here now either.

3rd most points in the league counting the period after Mourinho left, that's not worse. Chelsea have lost their best player as well as a great manager this summer. Arsenal are seemingly struggling to strengthen their squad with a fairly low transfer budget. We should be favourites to finish top 4 ahead of those clubs.

Realistically we won't be able to replace his creativity, at least not immediately. The hope would be that the loss of creativity might be ameliorated somewhat by also losing the flaws inherent in his often "languid" style. I don't have any doubt we'll be immediately worse off with him gone though.

However, he wants to leave so he will be leaving, whether it's this summer or next. There's nothing the club can realistically do about that so they'll have to bite the bullet at some point. Personally I'd be inclined to get it over with this summer, take whatever hit it brings and start moving on asap. Though it really depends on the offers we're actually getting, the offers we think we might get if we play hardball and how committed we think Pogba will be if he doesn't go this summer.

It's a tough situation for the club and they will be criticised for whatever they do.

It's almost as if he wasn't trying at the end of the season so he would have the excuse of us not being in the CL to engineer a move. His performance on the last day of the season was incredibly bad.

Not just Pogba, we have a similar situation with Lukaku who might be sold for big money (necessitating a replacement) or might not. Between the two of them it's a lot of potential disruption.

Apparently the world has to revolve around Paul for him to play well so this actually highlights the problem. We have to sacrifice so much for him and it's still not enough.
Bring in a Fernandes to add goals from open play and someone who can get the ball into our forwards quickly and we would be better off. A lot is made of our forward movement but it must be so hard to judge a run when Paul is at his indulgent worst.

While I agree we need to stand our ground getting in Pogba now after Hazard and others have already joined means that Real has the urge to get rid of some players.
Also they don’t have the money to just pay us 120+ so if Zidane really wants Pogba we might be in a good position to include 1 or 2 bargains in any deal.
We need to think carefully though about which player would fit into our future plans and really would consider a transfer to us as a new chance and not a punishment.
Like I said Isco could become our creative midfielder and he is meanwhile 27 or 28 so it might be his last chance to get out of that second fiddle role.

Isco is still a good player and would add to the squad. I still think Bale has some worth at the right price too. He could work as a stop gap on the right wing until we move for Sancho. Perhaps cash + Isco + Bale on loan for a couple of seasons would be better. Lets not forget that both players have played at the very elite level and would bring some experience to our weak dressing room.

There are countless players deemed 'past it' and 'shite' that get picked up by penny pinchers like Juve and go on to do a good job for them.
