Pochettino | Agrees to be US National Team Coach

Just occurred to me that Chelsea should have hired Inzaghi this past summer. His system would suit the squad nicely and cover up a bunch of their problems:

-Jackson not ready to play alone up top
-Nkunku not a lone striker but lots of talent if he gets back to his Leipzig days
-Enzo not playing up to potential, he seems like a nice fit for what guys like Mkhitaryan and previously Brozovic were asked to do by Simeone.
-Lavia has a lot of the qualities of Calhanoglu as a technical #6 type with 3 big CBs behind him.
-Chilwell and Cucarella not so good defensively, make good runs in attack off the ball
-Reece James and Malo Gusto are pretty good going forward and you probably want a more defensive option with Palmer slighter than Barella and more of a #10/winger type than a Mezzalla like Barella who can play as a #10 or #8.
-Colwill should be a good fit as the LCB, Fofana if he ever comes back similarly good fit as the RCB.

However, they have 4 first team-wingers who don't appear to fit the 3/5 at the back system. Palmer is the key one, no idea how he'd do vs Gallagher as the Barella style most attacking mid of the 3. Mudryk you can sell, Sterling should probably go anyways while he has some value if an offer comes in.

Caicedo is struggling, I have no idea if he'd look better or worse in this setup.

As it is, they might be better off staying with 4 at the back, but it does probably make sense for one of the 2nd tier Prem teams like United, Newcastle or Chelsea to be the only team playing 3 at the back among that tier and the top 3 and getting first choice of managers and able to sign the best 2nd striker types and wingbacks and smaller midfielders rather than needing to somehow snag a Rodri or Rice level of DM or crazy expensive Kane/Osimhen #9 that may just not be on the market with Madrid, City, PSG preferred destinations for players.

It's bad enough that Poch has shoehorned Gallagher in at attacking midfield all year, now he's doing so at left wing.

His football is genuinely a joke at this point - in an era where every elite tactical manager is figuring out ways to get extra bodies in midfield to help control matches and build play, Poch instead has us set up in a 3-1-6 most of the time. Beyond idiotic.

what’s a this?

It's annoying because I feel like we can really get at you if we have a go on Monday night but you just know Dyche will soak up pressure and invite you to control the game with ease.

Watching Poch football is a genuine eye sore. He has very impressively found a way to hide a lot of player’s’ strengths and expose their weaknesses. As I said the other day, we’ve been stuck in the Lampard before Tuchel phase for 2 years now. We need a horrible bastard of a coach to get a hold of this team. Tuchel’s impact was immediate and players previously thought of as average and discardable turned into some of the best players in the league in their positions as a result of Tuchel providing a basic solid defensive structure.

It's true the 5 at the back was a defensive fortress, we barely conceded in his first 6 months and won a CL with it.

Shame about the mid life crisis after. Or we'd be in a much better position now.

I think Poch will have to go if no Europe but I don't see any obvious replacements.

Exactly. There have definitely been some bad signings too and not everyone is even capable of making the step up no matter who the manager is, but I very much refuse to believe they're all as bad as Poch is continuously making them look, especially the midfield.

Take Jorginho for example. Clueless under Lampard, dynamite under Tuchel, terrible again under Potter and now very much a solid player under Arteta at Arsenal. Hmm, if only there were a correlation between the player's performances and the ability of the manager... I'm 100% certain the same will be said about the likes of Enzo, Caicedo etc. as well once they start playing under a manager who knows how to set up a midfield.

Palmer is the only clear success under Poch, just about everyone else has been wildly inconsistent or just plain bad. I would also point out it's not exactly a good look on Poch to take shots aimed at the players about how the team 'lacks the maturity to play every three days'. Whose job does this dumb cnut think it is to prepare them for that?

What do Chelsea fans think will happen with Poch next month? Your results improved recently but this is another disappointing result. Lately it feels more likely they'll keep him for next season but I haven't followed the situation closely.

The Argentine ETH?

Do we think Poch would have done a better job than Ten Hag?
Think any manager would have had problems with our squad, what style will they play? Poch doesn't choose transfers but you'd think they'd be a lot better with the names they've brought in despite being very young but the positive is they have played some scintillating football at times. ETH is probably overperforming with the team we have (of which signings like Antony are his fault) but the football is horrific.

We'll see come end of season but it's a woeful year for both clubs, with the glimmer of hope for us that we might be able to shithouse our way to a win versus City in the final having knocked out Pool on the way which would be a lovely finish to the season.

His position should be untenable. I get the squad is a bit of a mess and they are clearly lacking a goalscorer but they've had several disgraceful performances this season. Maybe it's because of how bad they were last season too, but it feels like their performances have been under the radar, despite them spending loads of money and stinking the place out.

I wonder if tomorrow will be Ten Hag’s “hold my beer” moment

Also Chelsea also looking for a manager this summer wouldn’t be good. Has there ever been a summer with so many clubs looking for managers?

Has anyone from redcafe told all those clubs that there aren't any managers available?

, precisely why I'm steering clear of commenting.

Gone from being arguably the better side against City at the weekend to absolutely shitting the bed, never mind the bed, shitting the walls tonight
