I've cracked mine open and repaired it a couple of times. I just use an old xbox controller most of the time.
Theres been other generations with ropy hardware but everything about this generation feels like paying a premium for pretty mixed quality. I find its a very cynical market at the moment and doesn't inspire warm feelings or enthusiasm.
To be fair the console price has not increased by much this generation. PS3 launched at £425 in 2007 and like it’s been said the reliability of that was shocking by normal standards, it is just Xbox outdid them with the RROD. I do think for the PS6, we will see a considerable price increase considering what they charged for the Pro. It won’t be £700, but wouldn’t surprise me if it’s around the £600 mark.
As for the controllers, I just ended up getting the dualsense edge, so I can swap out the sticks whenever there is stick drift. I do agree the quality of controllers seems to be getting worse with each generation from every console manufacturer, but I am hoping they improve on that for the next generation or give people the ability to swap out the sticks.
Anyway, Herman got demoted back to his old job. I do think Sony have got a decision to make regarding what they are going to do with PC. Either it is a day-one release or nothing. The sales of their games on PC have been disappointing, and now they trying to add incentives to people linking their PSN accounts. It doesn’t help also that Spiderman-2 is releasing this week and they release the specs a few days before the game is out. If they go day one, I won’t be buying any more consoles @esmufc07 besides Nintendo.
How many of those games are available on PS4? It has been mainly a cross-gen generation due to out-of-control development costs. I don’t remember many games releasing on PS3 after the second year of the PS4 release. It does look like the cross-gen era is slightly coming to an end this year with most of the major releases releasing on next-gen consoles only and Xbox Series S.I've bought way more games for the ps5 in the first 4.5 years than I did for either my ps4 or ps3, and this is with less time to play games than I used to have. So personally I don't feel that way at all and it's always towards the end of a generation you start to get more and more big ones.
