I’ve started Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Think I got it for like a fiver and seems up my street with the way you can complete things multiple ways and everything having an impact, down to your clothes, cleanliness, weapons on show, etc.. all seems quite cool in theory but something that can lose its charm in practise.

Seems quite clunky so far but enjoying it. Circle to sprint is a bit odd. Ended up haggling in the wrong direction and losing money so I had to sell my shirt to pay for the charcoal.

How are you finding the combat?

I stopped playing it because it felt so strange/hard.

Will get KC2 though next month

I’ve only done the sparring with the wooden swords. Currently still doing what feels like Prologue stuff.

Can't feckin wait for the new sniper elite game, it'll be more of the same but they're ridiculously good fun.

Last night me and swoosh basically stealthed an entire level (about 80mins of great coordinated work) until near the end when I decided throwing a grenade was a smart move, then all hell broke loose. Swoosh 100% wants to kill me sometimes I swear
Absolutely!

To be fair one of the times I blew something up with a grenade, I thought I was applying as bandage...

It's a great game despite the clunkiness. Tried it on PS5 a few times but hate the combat mechanics in comparison to keyboard/mouse.

100% my old trick that  amazing forgetting the buttons. I think grenades are underrated on sniper elite, aslong as you're a good distance away from the rest of the Nazis they're great, even then you get a couple kills and it's a distraction for others.

Sony Cancels Bluepoint, Bend Studio PS5 Games, One Being a Live-Service God of War Title
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/202...mes-one-being-a-live-service-god-of-war-title

Two more live-service games, from Bend and Bluepoint, cancelled by Sony. The level of mismanagement to get to this point is staggering. Imagine acquiring Bluepoint on the back of their stellar work done on the remakes of Shadow of the Colossus and Demon's Souls and then having them work on a live-service game.

I fear for the future of these studios now, especially Bend.

Helldivers aside, the live service pivot by Sony has been a costly mistake. At the same time, have to admit I actually like reading about them cancelling live service projects as it likely opens space for more single player games which they are obviously amazing at.

I'm glad those projects are cancelled but it's just sad that it was allowed to go on for this long. The cost is one thing (and no doubt astronomical), but the lost development time feels worse. Six years down the drain at Bend Studio, another 2-3 years at Bluepoint. Realistically, we won't see new games from them until the PS6 generation, if they're not shut down. Such a waste.

when will these thick studios get it in their heads that shareholders like me don’t want good games, we want addictive games that cost players lots of money.

No idea what they were planning with 12 live service games especially as they bought Bungie. Should have just left the live service games to Bungie and Arrowhead. Why spend all that money on Bungie and then have your other main studios waste time on live service games? It was the same with rocsteady and Suicide squad. The same with BioWare and Anthem. It is difficult turning a single player studio into making online games. If you look at most of the successful online games right now, most of them have been made by developers with lots of experience in that field. There’s not many who went on to make single player games only and successfully pivoted to multiplayer games.

Even though the numbers were good under his tenure, Jim Ryan will go down as the worst CEO that the PS group has had. Paying hundreds of millions to buy Firewalk and the silly cost of the development for Concord was like ETH signing Antony. Both deals should be investigated.

Jim Ryan always looked like a businessman with very little interest in games, and he definitely did a lot of damage. But I wonder how much of the responsibility lies with Hermen Hulst, who was head of first party studios between 2019 and 2024. He's currently co-CEO, which doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

@One Night Only I’ll be on later this evening if you are?

I gave the Axis Invasion mode a try - up to 19 kills now. Really good fun hunting other players through the map!

Have preordered SE Resistance - so that will be available to play from the 28th :)

So we still have a little over a week to finish SE5!

I'll know by about 6pm if I'm getting my leg over tonight or not, think I'd blow some Nazis up than blow my load TBF.

After tonight I won't be available again until Thursday night I believe. Will let you know when I know.

I need to pre order too actually, you get 10% off or something don't you, not sure if it's a normal discount or for playing SE5.

I've tried that axis invasion too, it's quality. If the new one has that I'll deffo be doing more, or when in coop allow invasions into our game

List of live service games (quoted from Push Square) Sony were working on and their current status:

The level of failure here is unbelievable with only 1 game a success. Sony abandoned the model which made PS4 so successful. Glazer levels of mismanagement.

I think it’s for playing SE5.

Yep we should def allow invasions into our games on Resistance!

I am very hyped for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. Played the first one years ago, but far from finished due to how clunky and broken it was. Absolutely loved the story, immersion and setting though. Going of the previews Ive seen so far, it will be everything that is good from the first KCD, but now polished. This is gonna be a great game

Just got the Platinum for FM Console on the Portal. Quite an easy one. Only took a few days.

Just tried to play Medievil on the Portal and it was making me feel so sick. Fecking hell, horrible.

This must amount to billions in development money flushed down the drain.

It's incredible that PS would decide to pursue that collection of slop but can't push a 60fps patch for Bloodborne. Then again it's hard to expect much better from a company that thought buying Bungie for 4 billion in 2022 was a good idea.

Definitely in the billions from what I've been reading. It's definitely had an impact on Sony's first party games this generation.

A patch? Surely they want to sell the remaster for good money to mankind.

PS6 will probably be out late 2027.

Between the first couple of years where it was hard for people to get a console and the botched live service strategy, seems like a wasted generation.

aye. i think the most fun i had with my ps5s was managing to get two before most people got one.

The Asian studios have done well this gen. Like a Dragon IW, DD2, Rise of the ronin, Stellar Blade, FF7 Rebirth, Wukong and Astro bot releasing from Asian studios last year. I wish Sony kept their Japan Studio.

The sales for PS5 are out-pacing the PS4, and I think it will end up outselling it easily due to a new GTA is coming out on it and it’s also not releasing on PC for a year.

I reckon later than that personally.

Patch, remaster, remake, anything really. My point was just that I think Sony are spending development resources on stuff that people don't want, while not putting even the small amount of resources needed towards something people do want.

Complete waste of a generation imo. Sony did what they did post PS2 success. The only difference is that with the PS3 generation it was the first half of the gen that suffered, and then things improved as Sony learned their lesson. They carried that player-centric approach into the PS4 and it crushed the competition...which unfortunately has made Sony arrogant again and now here we are.

An online multiplayer game, but specifically one with a big roadmap of dlc’s and loads of in game cosmetic items, battle passes. Basically designed to maximise profit out of players. Think Fortnite or CoD.
Thank god I never got into online gaming. sounds awful!

This is, very comfortably, the worst gaming generation in my lifetime, imo.

You around tonight @swooshboy ?
Not tonight but should be tomorrow evening
Question for you guys: Obviously you are both on PS5 playing SE:5, I've just started playing co-op with my youngest (Xbox - Steam crossplay) and there is often voice issues and occasional shot lag. Are your servers fine, or do you get the occasional issues?

Oh and invasion is such great fun, shame you can't 2v2 doing it.
