Gaming PlayStation 5

Think there are a lot of good games out there across consoles. Also think you perhaps need to give games a chance you wouldn’t normally (Returnal for example).

Returnal is shit. whitetext

I've bought Train Sim World 2, being delivered today. Needed a game to chill out to, and I thought driving trains should be a simple enough way.

Debating whether to convert a spare room into a full on cab, and to pick up some uniform off ebay for the full effect.

I wish Returnal would drop more in price. It's held up well.

Seems games hold their value a lot better at the moment. Seeing games that have been out for a year that have barely dropped in price, demand still high I guess.

Isn't this down in part to less people buying physical copies? Second hand market is stronger.

This was always my concern with moving to digital, we're over a barrel.

It’s a fair point. I’ve been waiting for Ratchet and Clank to come down in price for ages but it’s still pretty expensive digitally. Demon Souls too I might pick up down the line if it drops below £20.

I got Ratchet and Clank in my PS5 bundle, should I stick with it or flog-it-off ?

Might as well smash through it first and then flog it. It's visually impressive and some of the weapons are fun but ultimately quite a beige experience. I could never really get into it and played it in small chunks which didn't help.

Did you enjoy the last one? If so, play it and sell it, you'll still get a good price.

Personally, lovely as it looked, I found the game was nowhere near as much fun as its predecessor. It bothered me that I had to choose performance over top graphics settings too. The difference between the two seemed greater than any other game I'd played prior. Lovely as it looks on top graphics settings, the drop in f/r was too much and spoiled it a bit.

Still a good game mind you.

it's great and only takes about 15 hours to 100%. Play it and then trade it in.
Thanks.

Ah,cheers. Never played this series before but I guess the story and characters are quite easy to get into once I get about 20mins in.
The reviews seemed positive at the time and it does looks visually impressive too.

Yeah, this and Ghost Of Tsushima are the two I'm looking forward in checking out. Ghost is cheaper and easier to get atm.

I'd never played them either until the last one (PS4 version) a few months back. Loved that and didn't put it down till I'd platinum'ned it. Was really looking forward to this one and maybe should have given it a bit of breathing space before starting it.

It is good though.

Finally got myself one from Game this morning! It’s a preorder so will arrive in January. Needed the upgrade desperately as my PS4 has began spitting out my discs midway through gaming!

Good point. Pretty much why I refuse to go full digital, it's a rip off on consoles. Xbox is fine since I have Gamepass, wish Sony would offer something like that.

I might be one of the few, but I rarely replay most of the games, so I like to resell and get something back for them instead of just sitting there gathering dust.

This is what they don’t want. You are the enemy.

Well, they are starting to get their way, things are moving to digital on consoles at a pretty rapid pace. I just feel it's a waste to let something just there sit there doing nothing.

Pretty much why I like the subscription model, play it once and forget about it. Sony will have to hop on that train, but they will hold out as long as they can.

Yeah I’m with you, I buy and sell games pretty quickly, especially if I don’t like them.

Is anybody facing flickering issues with the PS5? I have tried and changed almost every setting (picture settings on TV and frame rate settings on the PS) but it still happens at random times. :(

Mine usually flicks off the source on the Tele when I load certain games up, flicks back to the ps5 source after 10-20 seconds though. Doesn't do it during gamings though.

  • Try disabling HDCP on system settings
  • Change "4K Transfer Rate" to -1 or -2
  • RGB Mode set it to FULL or Limited and test what is better
All within the PS5 settings, other then that different cable/hdmi port

I have changed the transfer rate to -2 which has made it slightly better. Let me try the other two, thanks!

Seriously considering getting one of these. Can anyone tell me, if I should get it with or without a disc drive? Also, can it really be true that it costs around £800, or are the stores pushing up prices while supply is low?

Huzzah!

A bit fiddly but yeah easy enough. If I can do it anyone can. Works great, booted FF7 Remake up from it loads just as quick as it does from the PS5 SSD.
Cool, nice little Christmas prezzie to one’s self!

Been inching closer to one myself, my best mate loves COD MW and I’m getting fed up of the downloading / installing / deleting juggle each time he comes over.

Yeah I’ve been after one for a while too. Definitely an impulse buy, but feck it it’s Xmas. Going to need the space as there’s a lot of games coming out soon that I want to buy (Elden Ring, Horizon, GT7, Forspoken).

Treat yourself!

Students are feckin loaded these days. Didn't even win on the chase and you're buying extra storage for your ps5.

Treat yourself!
I can’t  Over the last 3 weeks I’ve already treated myself to a radio controlled car (and a ton of spares to repair it after I crashed), nier automata, dark souls remastered, UFC4, metro exodus, limbo and inside, golden axe and green beret. I’ve spent a fecking fortune

Seems like I’ll be spending another fortune over the coming months too. GT7 (along with a wheel and frame), Elden ring and I really, really hope forspoken is as good as it looks. That has to be the best looking avatar I’ve seen on a game.
