It's a bit like Destiny in the sense that it seems like a loot-driven grindiness to it. The gameplay, however, is vastly different and it's got more MMO components to it in terms of being able to craft gear, upgrade abilities, assigning perks and stuff like that. And the Dark Zone, the PvP area, is nothing like PVP activities in Destiny.

Beta for PlayStation 4’s 3.50 Update Starts Soon – Key Features Detailed

Our beta program for PlayStation 4’s next major system software update, version 3.50 (codenamed MUSASHI), kicks off tomorrow. If you signed up for the beta and were selected, keep an eye on your email for instructions on downloading.

Regardless of whether you’re in the beta, we wanted to detail some of the key features we’re adding to PS4 in this update. We’re making it easier to play together with friends and adding the ability to appear offline when you’d rather play solo.

New Social Features
  • Friend Online Notification – Want to know the moment your friends come online? With this update, you can, as we’ve added an option to be notified when members of your friends list sign on the network.
  • Appear Offline – Sometimes you want to play a game or watch a movie without being bothered by friends. Now it’s easier to go incognito as we’ve added the option to appear offline. You can designate if you would like to appear offline when you log-in or at any time from your Profile or the Quick Menu.
  • User Scheduled Event – Time for a play date! We’ve added the ability to schedule a future gameplay session with your friends on the system. When your event starts, users who registered for the event will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away.
  • Play Together – This features allows all members of a Party to see what each person is playing so that you can easily join a friend’s game, or start a new game together.
Other New System Features
  • Remote Play (PC/Mac) – We’re bringing PS4 Remote Play to Windows PC and Mac. This feature won’t be available to test in the beta, but you can look forward to it soon.
  • Dailymotion – With this update, you’ll be able to live stream directly to Dailymotion on PS4. We’ll also support archiving live broadcasts, like we do for other streaming services.
Stay tuned for more details on MUSASHI, including additional key features and its release date.

I had hoped that they would add folder management for games, media and apps, but the Remote Play sounds v good if it works well.

I have an Xbox one. It's the centrepiece of my living room. But I'm being offered a PlayStation 4 and a bunch of games for 200 quid practically new.

Is the PlayStation worth it

I have both, there is very little between the two

But I do like having both

TLOU is very good. You could buy it, play a few games and sell it?

That's a very good update, stuff people have been asking for. Remote play should be interesting

For those that buy from the PSN Store - good deal to take advantage of:

And still can't change username. It's a joke at this point.
Its not going to happen. They fecked up their design in the beginning. Read somewhere that instead of having a user ID of some type to link things back they use the name. So any swap of name would cause a feck ton of DB changes.

They could fix it but there would be downtime and a cost. From their pov is the cost worth it? Probably not.

Interesting, I had read that they can implement it similar to what XBOX live have already but they were worried about griefing and being able to track reported players.

Yoshida said it was a technical issue, which I am more likely to believe than that idiot who said it is a trolling issue.

If it is about trolls they could solve that by charging for it like Microsoft do.

I'm sure they would charge anyhow as a lot of people have been waiting for this feature and they would make a lot of money from it. So I can't see Sony ignoring that unless there is a big technical issue.

I will receive today plants vs zombies 2,to play with my son, hopefully is so good as the 1st

Will the update including "appear offline" mean that when I'm watching a movie I won't get "so and so joined a party, you can join" blah blah anymore?

I turned off loads of options in the notification settings to avoid that. Then I realised I was missing loads of messages. :(

Suppose it's good news for all those Dark Souls III Players out there

Edit: And Ratchet and Clank! completely forgot about that one.

Uncharted 4 is pushed back until May 10th :/
On the one hand it's annoying, but in reality, I have The Division and Hitman to be playing next week...so don't mind a bit more breathing space before Uncharted!

Also, another positive is that I will have less time to play FIFA.

This is turning into an expensive few months!

I doubt there's any truth to that at all, it's very unlikely they'd use the username in such a way. Even if they did that's fixable.

It's more likely they think there'd be complications with policing usernames when they can be changed constantly.

Seriously though if you don't like your username create a new account, how hard is it?

Can you imagine how difficult it would be to get the username you wanted if they did open up the possibility of changing it? How many attempts you would need to find a name that wasn't already taken?

I signed up for mine as soon as you were able to before the PS3 was launched - with hindsight I probably would have gone with just swoosh - but I still like mine. I understand for those that are stuck with something they no longer like or feels relevant, it sucks.

It is quiet hard, There are so many things with regards to purchases that are linked to the account I have now, not to mention loyalty bonuses to certain games also. It is stupid of Sony, almost 10 years deep into PSN to not have a solution for this, Conceivably, someone who is now 20 years old is playing with a gamertag that they made when they were 10. Mine isn't bad so it doesn't effect me that much but it is just really, really dumb.

Apparently that username database thing is, indeed, true.

I agree though, it's fixable. But in some ways, PSN is quite an amateur organisation. To fix it would require work.

You've been able to change your name on Xbox for ages, but the feckers charge you about £10 to do it. Never been tempted. It's not a big deal imo.
