How do some of you guys end up being invited to beta trials? Do you need to sign up somewhere?

Yes you normally need to apply in order to be considered for closed beta's.
I ended up downloading it yesterday. Very impressed. The monsters aren't as terrifying as in previous entries, but the story and creepy atmosphere is fantastic and keeps you interested. It is thought provoking too, but enjoyable.
I've stopped getting the false notifications, but seems as though people are not 'in' - although, I suspect that, if you post your PSN and I checked, you're actually in, but it's not showing on your end for some reason.
Happened with me as well. I then went back to the community and joined it again.

Is their anyway to check the community outside of PS4? I checked again last night and it still asks me to join the community although clicking on that button does nothing.
It's likely the case that you're in, but it's not showing on your end. What's your PSN? I'll check tonight when I get home.

I have the exact same issue as well. I've tried many times to join the community through that page, but it seems like that functionality could be buggy for certain users.

Got Uncharted Collection a bit early & just completed the first one. Very good wish I had played them earlier. I get the Tomb Raider comparisons but it kind of reminds me of gears of war in a lot of ways especially towards the end.

Super Meat Boy is brilliant! really good game.
No idea. I would guess it will come up at 2pm or maybe as late as 6pm.

and also no guns which is really against the far cry formula.
Downloaded the Uncharted collection demo and it doesn't look that much better if my memory of the PS3 one is correct. Not a big fan of uncharted. Would have preferred naughty dog to have made TLOU2 or a new IP instead of Uncharted 4
Fair enough but there are millions who wanted another Uncharted... And from what I've seen so far it looks fantastic. TLOU can wait, I'm sure it's coming.
Yeah it does look good. There were some rumours a couple of years ago about them making a new space based ip. Nathan drake looking for intergalactic treasure would be interesting
One of my favourite games, but half of what made the original for me was the soundtrack. The new music is fecking terrible compared to the old one. I've read that it was down to the composer falling out with Team Meat, but I can't believe he'd be that stubborn to turn down free money. Still love the game and I'm trying to 106% it on the PS4 at the moment, but it's a shame about the music.

Ah, k. Thanks for letting me know. The constant alerts have stopped for me now, so I assume Sony are doing something behind the scenes. FWIW, you're not missing out on much. It's basically a community wall with a few "Oh hai" posts at the moment. The background that either @afrocentricity or @Damien have set is the best thing about it.
That'll be afro's doing. Definitely needs to be a lot done to communities to make them better and more useful, like topics with subgroups for FIFA, Destiny, ESO and so on and able to invite to parties from the particular subgroups
