Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

Good timing with the Ground Zeroes on +, get people in for the big V.

Heard good things about Skulls of the Shogun ages ago, looks like I'll finally give it a whirl. The rest looks pretty trash though.

How is the beta for you so far, Attila. I tried twice, couldnt find the opponents, killed my team mates, got bored and quit.
That is the exact same as my experience except I tried it once.

Map is too big and it takes ages to find some action. I also accidentally started killing my team mates

Sony got battered on watchdog tonight. Rightly so.

Can't believe they don't refund customers that get hacked.

Does anything else find the PS4 to be very loud? I sit right next to it but still...they should have just made it bigger and put in a larger and quieter fan.

It's pot luck on the build quality I think, some are loud, some are "normal" and some are almost silent. It also varies from game to game, some I won't hear it but others it will jet engine.

I'm one of the unfortunate ones that has a loud one.

It's a shame because it was the most annoying thing about the fat PS3. Became unbearable to use later on in its life because of the amount of noise it made. I've only had my PS4 for a year so I hope it doesn't progressively get worse over the years as the thermal paste starts to dry up and crack.

I have 1 month left on the warranty I think, so maybe I should just send it to Sony and complain it is making upsetting noises.

If you are in warranty still I'd absolutely take a chance on sending it to Sony, I wish I had. I'm like you perhaps in that I have it sat basically right next to me on my desk so the problem seems worse but if I'm playing something like MLB The Show and its loading early in the game, although it does settle quickly, I can hear the thing downstairs and it sounds like a tower fan on full blast.

With the summer coming I will probably take a chance on some new thermal paste.

I wish I had bought it from Amazon instead of Gamestop...Amazon usually just replace anything to keep you happy.

Wait, what? So people have bought and downloaded games using other people's psn accounts?

Yes, some people keep their card details attached to their account. So when the accounts are hacked the games are bought on other consoles and can be transferred to other users on that console. I guess sometimes it is hard to tell who has really been hacked and the guys who have ultimately don't stop until their money is returned, but there should be a clearer policy for people who do actually get hacked.

This is awful news for me. It was only in February I bought a Ps4 with Fifa 15 and GTA V for £415. I have also since bought TLOU and Battlefield 4 and I have hardly played on the thing. Seem's like such a waste of money, especially with all these deals out now for much cheaper.
I know the feeling. I spent £375 on a PS4 and Fifa 15 last year.

Although I have played it quite a bit.

Update: came home from uni for the year, went to game and grabbed the witcher + bloodbourne bundle for 319. im in heaven.

To be fair, it's not news. Consoles always drop in price and get great bundles! That £130-odd difference is what, a few nights out at best? Or a handfull of (mostly terrible no doubt) films?

Gaming is actually a very cheap form of entertainment in terms of hours/cost, so be happy ;)

@Redlambs Maybe you can answer this....why do my PS4 fans get so loud if I stand in one place in Dragon Age Inquisition...but If I run around in the same area it gets less noisy. I thought it would be the other way around.

I think I'm going to send the console to sony if I can find my reciept. It makes far too much noise now.

You would think it would be plenty of air sitting on a desk (especially in Scotland). Very annoying.

It's actually a very common thing for games to be rendering more whilst static. Motion blur, depth of field and all sorts of tricks are variable to make the performance smoother when the camera is in motion.

As for the PS4 fans there are reports of them being loud, I'm afraid the PS4 has always had heat problems all through development largely thanks to that fast memory. I don't have one myself yet, so I'm not sure if they are all like it, but have you looked on youtube or something for comparison?

I've looked at Forums and some people complain about how loud it is while others claim there's is silent. I'm guessing the silent people probably dont sit close to the console because I cant imagine the discrepency between loud and silent will be that big. I watched a tear down on youtube and the guy who opened it up (video was on release day) said the thermal paste was already hard which isnt good.

Has anyone here played both Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4? Which one had better graphics/area artstyle...just out of curiosity

Yeah the PS3 suffered from shite thermal paste too.

So I'm looking to get a PS4 again.

Looked around a little and the best deal that jumped out at me was the (PS4 + Witcher 3 + Project cars) for £329 on Amazon.

Anyone know of anything better than this?

Your a day late, could of got PS4 GTA5 bundle with Withcer 3 + Projects Cars/Fifa 15 for £350. Now it looks like the PS4 GTA 4 bundle has gone up in price and you don't get the witcher with it.

I'm actually gutted i didn't get that deal to be honest. I thought when the deal ended all they were was going to do was swap The Witcher for another game, but instead they've taken away Witcher and increased the price.

Amazon had a crazy deal the other day

Witcher + Project Cars + Last of Us + 3 month Playstation Plus = £263

Hope that helps

So a banner for the PS4 Uncharted collection was accidentally put up on the PS iOS Store last night...worst kept secret confirmed

Thats pretty much the only other remastered series I was actually hoping was real. Will very happily play through those again.

I wonder what level of remaster they've gone too. Hope they include multiplayer.

If its a proper remaster of all three with multiplayer and 1080/60 then I'll be forced to buy it.

FFS more remasters?

Are they going to make any original or new IPs this gen? In the distant future, video game historians are going to look back at this era and be baffled as to why we've released the same game numerous times.

Myself and I'm sure many others don't mind the remasters at all. Never played The Last Of Us and now the Uncharted trilogy. Great unmissable games that are at least worthy of them. I do agree that there's been some needless ones though.

No one's forcing anyone to buy them so I really don't mind remasters, as long as they dont cost a ton to make or hold up development of any new titles from the studios that made them. Most of these remasters are contracted out to studios who specialise in that field anyway, with the exception of The Last of Us though Naughty Dog said after they were glad they did it themselves as it gave them a better understaing of how to code for the PS4.
