Gaming PlayStation 4 (Console)

What does these exactly do, and how do they work?

My PS4 is down in the basement and stretching a cable downstairs is not an option, unfortunately :(
Plug one into wall socket beside the router and connect it via Ethernet. Plug the other into wall socket beside PS4 and plug in the Ethernet. Works the same as if it's connected to the router directly.

I don't know how, some form of magic, or electricity, or both, but they're amazing.

They use your buildings electricity power lines to carry the broadband signal, pretty excellent if your wifi drops a lot, speeds are bad or quite distant from the router.

Bloody hell, that sounds amazing!

So I bought this (at a good discount) with Madden 15 when I was drunk one night at a friend's as we enjoyed playing it. I'm not usually that guy and I'm not really into consoles massively, any recommendations for very casual gamers?

Those orbz covers are great. Also they shipped to Canada in less than two weeks which is half the time shipping from uk usually takes.

Finally pulled the trigger!

It's coming guys

edit: Didnt play LoU on Ps3, pretty happy to get it.

What kind of price drop are we expecting for the thanksgiving/Christmas? Might be tempted if it drops to 300 dollars in the US
Tbh I doubt it drops at all. It hasn't really lost any significant momentum in terms of sales so I personally don't see a price drop until next year at the earliest.

There won't be any significant price drop IMO, but you'll probably bag a decent bundle or two around that time from the usual retailers.

I'm slightly tempted to pick one of these up but there seems to be a distinct lack of decent games.

How are people finding it. Hw many quality games are there?

I just don't want to spend £400 on a console if there's nothing worth playing on it.

What you into mate?

There are plenty of varied games to keep you going until the end of the year when the newer titles hit the shelves.

Off the top of my head theres

Battlefield 4
Fifa 15 out in about a week.
Tomb Raider
The Last of Us
Destiny
Infamous 2
Watch Dogs
Wolfenstein

Hope this helps!

Yeah. Problem is a couple of those I already played through on PS3 (well, sort of). I played the Fifa 15 demo on a friend's console and was unimpressed.

Destiny which I'd probably get with the console looks interesting (as long as it has a story to it rahter than just being a multiplayer fest), and Wolfenstein I'm pretty sure I'd like. There's not really a lot else I can think would tempt me out of £50 though.

The more I think about it the more I think I'd just be buying it because it's a shiny thing to waste my money on.

Yeah there's not a lot on it you haven't already played a thousand times tbh.

There is Metro Redux. Brilliant first person shooter.

Depends what your're into but there are some good games out now, Diablo 3 is great and will probably last for a year at least (with Blizzards patch updates), I loved The Last of Us but I didn't play the PS3 version so not sure if that's one for you and Destiny is better than the reviews it's been getting, the 6/10 stuff is nonsense. Fifa next week then pretty much all the big AAA games to come out before Xmas, it's a good time to get a console imo.

If you are bit of a casual gamer the ideal time to get one will be around March next year, catalogue will be bigger after all the xmas releases and a lot of them will drop in price either new or used. Plus you then have Bloodborne, The Witcher 3 and The Order to take your pick of, possibly with bundle deals.

But you still need the console man, the console........ :(

Yeah that looks decent. Still edging towards waiting it out a bit.

Boredem is dangerous. I was milling about in Game yesterday because I was waiting for someone who's train was delayed and had nothing better to do, and I nearly bought a PS4 just because it was there. I stared at it for about 5 minutes. Then I went back and stared at it some more.

November would probably be the best time to pick one up - Far Cry 4, Dragon Age inquisition, more Destiny content, Drive Club, Assassins Creed Unity, LBP3.

Only games really worth buying now are Destiny, TLOU and Diablo 3 IMO.
