Players you had forgotten existed

Lopez . Unreal at the time where he was regularly tearing Madrid and Barca a new one. Loved that Valencia side

Vicente, Aimar, Baraja, Mendieta, Ayala, Canizares, Carew etc. That period and rotation of players were something.

The Carew mention not because he was a good player but because he was a beast on Pro Evo

Yeah Vicente and Aimar were unreal ballers too. Vicente ruined by injury and ended up what was out of place looking at that time at Brighton

That fella who was on that Esther Rantzen show which discovered Sheena Easton and played for Liverpool.

Lucas Leiva just turned 37. it's been 5 or 6 years since he left Liverpool yet I feel like it's been about 15.

O. Cardozo is still scoring for fun, but he's only 40. his partner in attack is another youngster, 42y old R. Santa Cruz. obviously they're toying with the rest of the league.

Ah, it was a class side. Canizares, Ayala, Aimar, Baraja, Albelda, Mista, Angulo.. used to love watching them and Deportivo back then.

Niko Kranjcar. Perennial 'Arry Redknapp deadline day signing.

Aldo Duscher. Were we actually supposed to sign him?

That's great.

I know they weren't the best of the best at their peak, but some people seem to frown upon players for carrying on past their own personal best. Ruining their legacy is a phrase I've seen before. Even if these 2 weren't absolute superstars on the world stage they still obviously had more talent than most of us could ever dream of.

If a player enjoys playing, and can be remotely useful anywhere then keep playing! Can be back in their in their own country like these 2, a different country with easier leagues, or even way down the ladder in the 5th or 6th tier somewhere. Why not if football still brings them joy!? Seems they won the Apertura, Clasura and Paraguyan Cup in 2023.

Lee Trundle was still appearing in a Welsh regional division last time I checked which I think is brilliant.
