Players you had forgotten existed

Arda Turan is actually really funny. Is loaned out to one of the minor Istanbul teams (Basaksehir), got suspended last season for 16 games after pushing a linesman, and is now facing jailtime because he broke a Turkish singer's nose in a nightclub scuffle that started because Turan behaving inappropriately towards the Singer's wife (?). Apparently, after he knocked him out, Arda followed the singer to a hospital where he was treated, and confronted him again, this time with a gun visible in a holster on his hip. Hilarious.

Wow. Why is he not at a better club in the first place?
I was wondering about him not having played this season at all. That could be cause of the 16 game suspension.

What the hell happened. He was great for Athletico. Barca signed him up, even though he could not be registered for six months. All that for nothing. Crazy shit.

Anger Management issues apparently...

Jack Wilshere. Someone just bumped a thread saying he's injured again. I'd forgotten all about him, seems ages since his name was mentioned anywhere.

Watching the Sunderland Netflix series I remembered that Conor Wickham exists so looked up which Championship club he’s at now.

Somehow still clinging on at Palace having made one appearance (as a substitute in the 89th minute) since December 2016.

He actually made the bench last weekend too.

He’s had a horrendous run of injuries which have set him back greatly.
He’s young enough to rebuild his career but probably just short of the hopes that were once held for him.

I remember buying him in FIFA career mode a few years back. Shame how it turned out for him so far.

Matt Jarvis. Played well for Wolves for a couple of years and got an England cap in 2011.

Is at Norwich but hasn't played for them for two years, I presume due to injury.

I saw this thread bumped and thought someone bumped it because Paolo Guerrero scored for Peru last night.

Roy Makaay, Sidney Govou, Denilson ex Arsenal and Adryan a brazilian playmaker we was linked with and I don't know where he's playing after leaving Fluminense.

Adryan was a Flamengo's playmaker who has already played in Leeds United. Along with Philippe Coutinho, ex-Vasco's player, I thought he could be helpful for Brazilian national team in the future when he was playing here. Unfortunately, he hasn't been attained good enough results to reach this particular level.

I saw Lee Grant somewhere in the vicinity of Woodward today and remembered he actually plays for us.

Was watching the Everton spurs match and all of a sudden remembered Yannick Bolasie. I know he had a bad injury at Everton but haven't seen him since that. A quick look on Google, he's on loan to villa right now.

It's been a while, but where is Anderson now? And does he have a Nandos within reach
Good lord. He's currently playing in the second tier of the Turkish league system and doesn't even look to be a regular starter. Only 30 years old too. Probably enjoying kebabs on the reg.

Amazing how far he's fallen. He was a first team regular for a Champions League winning side in his teens!

Pavel Nedved, seem to remember thinking of him as one of the best players in the world back in the day, and he even won Ballon d'Or, yet is rarely ever mentioned in any capacity at all these days?

He was meant to be the next Ronaldinho at one point!

I tell this story all the time but I remember on one of the old FIFA games he eventually developed into one of the world's best players if you persisted long enough. He was the best player in my team featuring Ronaldo and Rooney!

Apparently he's off to Sunderland in Jan.

He is an executive at Juventus now, isn't he?

He was clearly immensely talented. He won the Golden Boy thingy in 2008, which is no small feat. I remember when we signed him, Nani, Tevez and Hargreaves in the same window. Anderson was the one I was most excited about by far. His performances for Porto and Gremio up to that point were as good as any player I've ever seen at that age. He was a phenom. I genuinely thought we'd signed the next GOAT level player. Shows how much I know...

Forgot about our own Adem Ljajic for years, we signed him at the same time as Zoran Tosic. Was supposed to turn into something special. Has had semi decent career mainly in Italy but never realised full potential although had some good seasons numbers wise.

What are you talking about? Adem Ljajic never signed with Man Utd, was just linked.
Player that I think just dropped into mediocrity and disappeared: Samuel Eto'o
Just googled him and it says he played in Chelsea and Everton 2013-15, I thought he was gone since 2010 but just before that was World class.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/f...-United-sign-Zoran-Tosic-and-Adem-Ljajic.html

We signed him in 2009 and stated at the time "while an agreement is in place for 17-year-old Ljajic to remain with Partizan for the rest of 2009."

The deal didn't go as planned with the official story being that it broke down due to work permit problems but people in the know reckoned that the Glazer's thought £9m at the time was too expensive.

Agree with you on Eto used to love him at one point. One thing amazes me he signed for Anzhi Makhachkala at 30 sill in his prime for 2 years from 2011-2013.

Fredy Adu if he hasnt been mentioned.

Thought that guy was going to something special. He was so good at that age that people thought he was going to unite a 'soccer' revolution in the USA. Labelled The American Pele from a young age. He dreamt of one day captaining USA and winning the WC Final. He had so much talent and we nearly signed him when he was about 13. Shame as he oozed class.

Director at Juventus. not the biggest guy but of the toughest I've seen on a pitch, cant recall game but the other team tried injuring him but he came back on with a sling round his arm and a bandage round his head. A proper man. Legendary player who Juve bought him to replace the irreplaceable when Zidane went and he proved himself an outstanding player in his own right.

McDonald Mariga, signed by Inter in Mourinho's last season there. I was actually checking what's with Wanyama these days as you rarely hear anything about him, so I found out that he's actually Mariga's brother.

E. Izaguirre was often linked with us as Evra's replacement but eventually went to some Arabian club. he's at Celtic again.

I'm actually amazed how he's actually still playing

Zeki Fryers. 40 games so far in his career and he's 26. what a waste.

Anderson was an incredibly underrated player.

Come at me.

Roberto Soldado.

Thought he was playing in China or somewhere but watched a bit of Fenerbache today and there he was upfront not doing much.

Gai Ausslin, The Israeli Messi.

There was some hype about him when he was in the Barca academy but he turned down a contract with them and joined City. I saw him play his last game for City reserves in the Manchester Senior Cup final which also featured Pogba in a United victory.

Since then he’s bounced around Europe doing very little. Now turning out in the Kazakhstan League aged 27.
