Players who danced one summer

Marcus Berg. Scored plenty of goals in the U21 Euros and for Groningen only to make the same mistake as many Swedish players do and move to the Bundesliga, which is like, cursed or something. Top scorer in the Greek league or something now apparently.

Is he playing in a Women's league now?

Apologies for replying to a post which is over a month old, but how is Poborsky wearing our Champions' League kit from 98/99-99/00?

We only had that kit for 2 seasons, right? And he left at the end of 97/98?
to me that looks like Jesper Blompqvist with Poborski's head shoved on.

The squad number and sleeves give it away.

Zlatko Zahovic - early version of Mesut Özil. Had an absolutely amazing WC 2002 before he started a fight in the dressingroom and was sent home if I remember it correctly.

This guy was a terrific player in his prime, probably Porto's best attacking midfielder I remember until Deco showed up. In one CL edition he scored 7 goals in 5 different matches (3rd best scorer in an edition on which we didn't even got past the group stage), and was one of the cornerstones of a record 5-consecutive league winning Porto side. Also played a CL final with Valencia.

Was 31 in WC 2002, and still performed well at a ridiculously weak Benfica after that. Extremely unfair inclusion.

If you're in dire need of a Slovenian in this thread then Miran Pavlin also had a decent WC 2002, was bought by Porto and was absolute shit.

Now I don't know what to think. It's one hell of a photoshop if it is, also, why bother?

I think it was answered a while ago - we actually had that strip the season before too.

Short and simple, he was shit in the Bundesliga. He was also loaned back to the Dutch League but didn't impress there either. Now he's playing well in the Hellas League, but... it's the Hellas League...

He's also one of my favorite players. The reason I included him in this list is because he really stood out in the WC but never really had the chance at a really big club. Perhaps his mindset was his problem; an ego as if he was Maradona. I think he really showed the world what he can do in the EC and WC but also showed the darker side of his personality.
