Players leaving at HT vs Real Vallecano

I can somewhat understand non-match day players leaving but it does absolutely nothing for camaraderie.

Despite all the ‘clean sheet’ for players spin & the way that certain players who left on a free this Summer we’re banded as ‘the problem’, the least you can all do is finish out the game. Ronaldo being part of the match day squad then leaving is a terrible example but those who weren’t but did the same are just as bad for me. Lots of youngsters out there, cheer them on.
This is an extreme take. Lumping together what Ronaldo did with the other is ridiculous. Just a bad as Ronaldo, really?

They'd just played a game a day earlier and we given the day off. They decided to show up and watch the game as spectators, with no obligation to even be there. I mean some who weren't in the squad that day stayed home and took advantage of their day rest after playing a game in another country just 24 hours ago. The fact that they even showed up to watch the game in person is already good enough and didn't have to, could have stayed home and enjoy their rest day.

It's ridiculous to claim that what they did is just as bad as what Ronaldo did when in actuality they didn't even do anything wrong. Players who come as spectators, sitting on directors boxes leave the game early all the time.

Give youngsters a run out in their positions for the first match. If they play well keep them in until they dont and then recall those who left when needed

Nothing surprises me anymore - but if this happens, I'll boycott the season.

It’s tough but look at what happened when Lingard and Lev Henderson were kept at the club and were unhappy, and then multiply that by 1000 for Ronaldo. We can’t stick him on the bench or put him in the reserves or whatever.

Surprise Ronadlo is only in it for himself and is over the hill and on way too much money. I for one am shocked. Oh no wait I told you all last summer that this would end up happening. I can’t believe fans are still lapping this self centred spoilt bollocks up from him. For the standard he’s at we are doing him a favour giving him those wages and giving him chances to play his way back into the team this season after his shambles of a pre season. Luckily for him we aren’t well run and seem to grasp around for a magic fix rather than think long term like Fergie used to do when he signed Ronaldo in the first place.

If he was half as good as some of you seem to think another club would have bitten our hand off to take him.

Tbh I never understood the whole thing where players don't come watch the team play if they are out of the squad or injured or whatever. You are part of the team, right? Then you go with the team, to every game. And stay the entire game. They are never just "fans", they are always part of the team, even if they haven't been selected that game. I know that's just not how it is these days, but if it were up to me I would 100% make it an obligation for every senior player to attend the game, even if they are not selected, unless they are being kept for training/fitness. Be there and support your team.
I don't know about that. These players have been on a long month tour, had just played a day earlier and were rightly given a day off. I would use that day to rest at home and catch a break as well. The guys who played on Sunday had their day off the day earlier when the rest were playing in another country, so it's understandable that the Saturday guy would also use their rest day to actually rest, especially after playing a day earlier in another country.

We can’t stick him on the bench or put him in the reserves or whatever.

It's extremely unrealistic, of course.

But we could do that if we wanted to. It would be the ultimate statement in terms of announcing a brand new post-Woodward era.

(It won't happen - I know. But for me, bending over for this disrespectful, washed-up asshole would be pretty damn horrible - not to mention utterly pathetic.)

Surely it’s a better outcome for the club than keeping him round if he’s going to be as petulant as he was over the weekend?

Yeah, pragmatically and logically.

I just hate the idea of bending over for him in any shape or form.

Well the manager clearly does given his words on the matter. Surely you can see the significance of that?

Yeah and he'll deal with it so what's the issue exactly. It doesn't mean it has to be a fan drama, they'll be plenty of internal discipline every season.

Ronaldo leaving before the match was done is unforgivable. You’re part of the match day squad ffs. So subbed players not come back out with the team to the bench?
mid the post match talk in the dressing room by ETH not important or apply to him?

Terrible example to the young players.
People actually suggested him for captain too. Mental.

This Ronnie thing isn´t even close to be resolved or done. This won´t end well.

The Dalot thing is disappointing, he’s likely to be out starting right back, so sad he is involved in this.
The Ronaldo situation is a mess he should never have been brought back.

If its true and they weren't allowed I'm looking forward to 3-4 weeks wage penalty. And if it's criticism from players about this, give them 2-3 more weeks.

No chance unless you want to loss vs Brighton, they should be fined. Bigger fine for the player/s in that was in the match day squad.
I think once and for all the club has to realize that discipline, respect and long term goals among other things are more important than the 3 points at stake.

This is not easily going to be solved. Ronaldo wants to leave and seemingly doesn't want to follow the rules but no one in the CL wants to take him off our hands at the moment.

Discipline is clearly a big thing for ETH and frankly our squad is in desperate need of it after Ole/Ralf so I say we back the manager in this situation. Problem there is Ronaldo's influence on others is great and if the player who sets the example to the rest is not interested, you've got a big problem.

Pray that we can sell him before the window closes.

Its not such a big deal especially for those who weren't in the match day squad.

I am not sure who exactly left, but I guess you are right and those who were not in the match day squad probably have a case of doing nothing wrong. Ronaldo however, knew exactly what he was doing, should be fined in wages along with ban from the team.

Among the names reported only Ronaldo is in the match day squad. If he's going to be an issue he should be isolated from the group till he gets his move.

The only possible excuse is that they left to watch the Women's Euro Final. But even then, it's not a good excuse for failing to support their own teammates.
Somehow I don't think most of them knew there was Euro played at all, let alone Final. Except maybe English players. They don't strike me as avid watchers (is that a word) of Ladies football.
It was a friendly and someone probably authorised it. Maybe Ten Hag wasn’t aware and it’s not like its the first time in the last few years.
who? Fletcher? John, Arnold? If so, that person should be fired. First team men decisions should be in hand of one man and only one man. Let me give you a hint. He is Dutch. His name is Erik.
If those above him are making decisions instead, then nothing changes, and very soon pampered Diva players will do to Erik what they have been doing for a while.

Of course he is going to be an issue. Look at that video and how he behaves when ETH is giving instructions and then this. He should be sent to train alone or with the reserves until there is someone dumb enough to take him from our hands.

You can't hand out discipline for something you haven't made clear, and it sounds like ETH never said they should stay.

We’ll EtH certainly feels there was some form of obligation but I’ll take 3 paragraphs from some jumped up poster.

The squad is still rotten to the core, you can single out Ronaldo if it makes you feel better but I look to the words of the manager himself, had there been no issue with others leaving he wouldn’t have mentioned it so again thanks for the ramble but you not caring doesn’t quite trump the man that picks the team.

Maguire and Lindelof were both in the stadium watching the England v Sweden semi final match.

How Ronaldo could leave at half time without permission is really beyond me. Clearly trying to force himself out. He should get a fine.

Players that weren't part of the match squad for me it just depends on the agreements made. If the rules were to stay at friendlies until the end of the match, then obviously they breached the rules as well, which is not good. However still a different level compared to a player that's in the squad that leaves at HT without permission. Everyone knows that's a no-go. Terrible example by Ronaldo and he clearly puts himself above the team and manager. Especially after all this transfer turmoil, this is just taking the piss.

The Dalot thing is disappointing, he’s likely to be out starting right back, so sad he is involved in this.

Funny thing is Ronaldo will never speak to Dalot again when he gets his move.

Seems weird as the original report was that the club was ok with it. But anyway, to me it doesn't matter if you're in the squad or not. You should be in attendance on match day and support your team unless you're excused by management.

The proper response is to tell the players clear expectations, not to do that again, and move on.

He will always be too much distraction especially early in the season if he's in the squad and not playing as expected.

Ten Hag should copy what LVG did with De Gea back in 2015 when he wanted to go, no place in the squad till the transfer window closes.

He is like a school kid playing up. He knew leaving at HT would be an issue but could well have hoped his rebellious act would help get him a move away. Club more inclined to get rid thus giving him his way. Petulant cnut

Hopefully this is manufactured by the club or manager to get rid of Ronaldo, if possible.

Good riddance.

Not sure why people trying to fire blame onto players who weren't even in the match squad. I'm not sure if they broke any rules, but I'm sure Hag will sort that out too.

Because social media influencers like "The United Stand" (Goldbridge) are making out it's an agenda driven attack on Ronaldo.

The reasons range from the fact that Ronaldo doesn't have a British passport (which he feels ensures that you don't come under criticism from the British press) to Manchester United attempting to force Ronaldo out of the club.

Goldbridge actually the worse thing to happen to this forum. Seems to drive a lot of quotes and cliché driven chat around certain topics.

It's quite obvious Ronaldo needs to go. Even if the theories where correct and it was all a agenda, he needs to go purely from the publicity and media traction around his every move or facial expression, which the new manager will not need going into next season.

Could go a long way to wiping the slate clean for the season ahead.

His body language this season be causing a media storm after every bad match which the manager will have to front up and answer questions about. Do not need it at all.

This is another potential downfall of sticking with Ronaldo this season, other players could start catching strays because of his stunts, case in point this particular situation. Normally players on their days off would be free to stay home or come watch the game as spectators and leave whenever they want but because this whole thing was an egregious act done by Ronaldo, the ones who shouldn't even be caught into this storm since they actually didn't so anything wrong, are right in the middle of it.

Bolded doesn't make sense. Those 3 weren't part of the matchday squad and had no obligation to even be in the stadium. They were free to do what they like. I mean some who weren't part of the matchday squad didn't even show up at the game further proving that the trio had no obligation to be at the stadium. Players who come as spectators, in the directors box leave early all the time. The egregious bit is Ronaldo leaving early despite being part of the matchday squad.
Whilst on paper I don’t disagree with you, I’d say the optics on the others leaving still isn’t good. It’s worse than not being there at all as you’re leaving it open to ~MANCHESTER UNITED STAR WALKS OUT ON GAME~ talk. They’d definitely be getting stick themselves if not for the far bigger issue of the model professional in the match day squad walking out.

Did you actually read what Ten Hag said?
