I think Diego’s going to get a nice little run of games the next couple of weeks with the 2 European matches and the Worthington Cup coming up. Counting yesterday’s match, that’s 4 games. I think we’ll have a better idea of what he’s capable of in a couple weeks time.
My concern with Diego, besides the fact that he’s having a hard time scoring, is that he doesn’t seem to have that striker’s instinct in the box. Last night early on, he could have tried for a shot on goal. Instead, he laid it off for someone else and I’ve noticed that he seems to have a tendency to do that. (Could never see Ole/Ruud doing the same thing in the same situation). Great strikers are normally selfish…but in a good way. They’ll always take the chance themselves if they’ve got a half decent chance because they believe they’re going to score. I don’t know if it’s simply a lack of confidence with Diego right now or not. Hopefully, that’s the case.
I think that Diego does do some things very well though. He links up play well, he made a beautiful back heel pass to Scholes last night and with his pace can always trouble defenders. If he doesn’t work out as a striker, I still think he’d be a good squad player as a backup for Beckham and Giggs.

EG was in the same PSV side as ronaldo but got badly injured and really has shown a great amount of skill and ability to recover. He has shown he is a good player at chelsea but not sure whether he has proven any more than forlan. Forlan isnt a forward either so you cant really compare

Ive never said eidur wasnt better striker that Diego. Im just saying that if he signed for us things would not be guaranteed to go well for him and am wondering how you would react to that.
