Pick two legends to come in today

Any system that Amorim was playing Keane would be my first choice. An absolute monster of a player and leader. It must have been an unreal lift to have him as a teammate.

I'd be tempted by Park, honestly. Has the athleticism and energy for 90 minutes of high intensity every game and the tactical intelligence to get the system right away. Could fit in as either wing back, or as a 10. Him and Keane.

Cantona and Schmeichel

The confidence the king would bring in, would be transformative.

We need to replace the keeper, and I'd take Schmikes today. VdS would also be brilliant, mind.

There is much more impact going from a 7/10 attacker to a 10/10 attacker than going from a 7/10 wingback to a 10/10 wingback. Beckham is one of my favourite players and I’d love him at RWB, but world class attackers are worth so much and are so hard to come by.

So I’m tempted to go with Rooney for one for the 10s and RVN up top.

Having said, I’d love Keane in there for what he brings as a player and a leader. I’d like to see how he reacts when a teammate on the pitch is not pressing properly, or being careless with the ball

Rooney and Keane it is!

Keane and and van Persie.

Oh, no van Persie. (Wtf?). Hmmm, Giggs on wingback then.

Scholes and Irwin would be amazing for this team

Cant imagine why Park and Valencia are on the list but Robson, Bruce, Pallister and Vidic arent

Charlton and Law. Bobby to show them how to hold the ball and pass it, and Denis to show them how to score.

Scholes and Cristiano.

Play conservatively like we did at Arsenal:

-----------------------------------Hojlund--------------------------
----------------------------Bruno------Cristiano
Malacia/Dalot-----Scholes---Ugarte-----Amad
----------Lisandro------------De Ligt------------Yoro/Mazraoui

LWB is still a mess, but United Cristiano who was a little more agile than his Madrid version would be a match-winner, Scholes and Ugarte fit nicely and you should be solid defensively and Scholes and Bruno can create enough for Cristiano and Hojlund to get goals.

Definitely a case for Giggs at LWB and Scholes/Keane, and you just hope Dalot at RWB improves or play Amad there and hope Mount stays healthy as a #10, or Garnacho can adjust to that role.

our midfield is pathetic and dressing room is as toxic and rotten as it can be so having keane there benefits you more then any other goat you could pick.

considering the appaling quality of midfield and inability to play under pressure and control the game scholes is also a no brainer.

yes we have other issues but you can find a wingback or n10 in the market, you cant find those two above.

Ronaldo and Scholes and I don’t see how they aren’t everyone’s choices.

We can’t score for shit and are poor in possession. These two are the single biggest game changers in these areas in PL history.

Ronaldo can carry an attack by himself and Scholes can run a midfield alone. We would be contenders with these two.

I do get the Keane shouts but you’d still need to pair him with Bruno. I would take Scholes and Ugarte in a 2 man pairing over that.

I dont think Keane is the man to remove toxicity

Keane to instill leadership and a spine in midfield.
Rooney to get 20+10 every season and the rest of the attack firing.

I'd go for someone I never had the chance to see like Best and Charlton.

Irwin - LWB or RWB, probably both at the same time. Professional, unassuming, class. Free-kicks, penalties, corners.

Rooney - tireless, committed, could and would play practically anywhere.

So you mean Bobby Charlton, George Best aren't legend?

What about Steve Bruce, Brian Mcclair or Mark Hughes?

Scholes and Keane, would be great to see us dominate a midfield again. Rooney is also a good shout, could play a few positions in the current formation and would spark some of the rest of them into gear.

A few days ago, I came across and watched extended highlights of our away game against AC Milan in 09/10 season. 3-2 win with Rooney scoring two great headers (I think this season was peak Rooney, also he scored so many headers that year)

My god, just seeing some of players we had out there (Milan aswell actually) made me just despair at the qualify of players we now watch on a weekly basis.

I remember watching this game live like it was yesterday, but just seeing Van der sar, Ferdinand, Evra, Carrick, Scholes, Rooney and even so called ‘squad players’ at the time in Fletcher and Park, made me think if only we had 2-3 of those now how far better off we would be currently, not just in quality but also in mentality of what it means to play in this big games for such a big club.

To answer the question, I’d take Scholes and Rooney.

Rooney and Ronaldo.

If you have those two attackers at their peak, it gives you an edge over any team in the league.

You can buy functional fullbacks and midfielders for a system, but that level of attacker is like gold dust and instantly transformative

This. Doesn’t matter if the rest of the team is crap, these two in their 2008 season would win you games literally by themselves. Our team is lacking genuine x-factor quality, particularly in the attacking positions; even Keane would struggle to raise the level of the subpar players we have to an acceptable standard.

You see how opposition defences panic when Salah is on the ball. Well we used to have to that with Rooney and Ronaldo. We need decisive match-winning players right now.

Paul Scholes and 12-13 Robin Van Persie or Ronaldo.

Onana
Yoro Deligt Martinez
Amad Ugarte Scholes Maz
Bruno RVP Garnacho

There are no wrong answers here. All class. Maybe a hot take but I even think current Ronaldo would do well if he could just be a finisher up top. Not that I would want him.

I would definitely take Rooney because Amorim values players who can play multiple positions and he did it like the best of 'em. Second one is tough, passing up on those midfielders is insane but I'm going purely for need. I think Valencia would absolutely thrive in this system but I'll take Giggs because our left side looks the worst on paper. Shaw never plays, Malacia isn't good enough and Dalot and Mazraoui are better on the right. Plus it's fecking Giggs.

Strange choice on the list, Barthez, Park?... no Robbo, Rio, Vidic, Ince, Cole, Solskjaer, or even Bruce Pallister.... I get you have only gone back so far but these players are kind of the same era, and there are more honourable mentions I have excluded

From your list, and assuming we are talking prime, my head says these 2 would have the most impact:

Beckham, in any team in any era his delivery into the box is getting mad assists, and then you have a free kick taker supreme
Ronaldo, as a striker not sure how he would not be in every selection TBH, even if he is a prime cock

However my heart says, give me any list all day long and I will pick these 2:
Cantona, I mean it is just Cantona, probably useless as a player for Amorim but the swagger, the outrageous skill, the aura, just OOO, AHH!
Schmeichel, , do not think Schmeichel with his feet would be at todays standards although he was not shaky by any stretch, but would be interesting to see his long throws in the modern era, but he was just immense, only goalkeeper I remember having the same draw and impact as an outfield player, he was outrageously better than any other keeper I have seen if only for his sheer presence in the defence and team in general.
