Phil Jones to United | Transfer to Champions complete

I wonder (in an roundabout kind of way) what this means for Diouf. Either we like him and he'll come back, or Blackburn don't fancy him at all. Would have been logical for him to have been involved in the deal.

At least it seems Wenger has finally realized he has a problem to address, and if he held talks with Jones it shows he's prepared to stump up the cash.

To be fair, we need someone proven. Jones, as good as he might be in the future, isn't what we need now. He's a very good player for his age, but we can't deal with potential anymore. United can afford to take that risk, since you have Rio and Vidic as a first-choice CB pairing. I'd have been disappointed if Jones was our big summer signing. Wenger might have played his cards a tad too late, but I don't think Jones was ever his primary target, and I doubt he'd lose sleep over it.

Samba will be a better option for Arsenal at this moment in time. The sort of guy who will bully opposition players, something which Arsenal lack at the moment.

I don't know if it's been mentioned but he seems a little short for a CB with only 5'11. Still only 19 though, so could grow a bit.

Samba or Cahill are the type of guys we need to be looking at. Knowing Wenger though, he'd be more likely to pluck someone out of obscurity in Ligue 2...saying that, I think he's realised that he needs to spend some serious dough on the right players.

I think Obertan failed his medical, didn't he? He had some spinal issues that United got him a doctor for. I think.

I'm hearing that we just need a second opinion on a previous injury. So that would mean the medical hasn't been failed, it's just yet to be completed.

(this is still rumour territory, by the way, nothing confirmed)

From an Arsenal perspective you would like to think that those days are over, at least for a few seasons.

I think 2001 is the only summer I have known Arsenal to spend big

If he has failed his medical why is the main BBC site not reporting it?

Reminds me of the time we nearly signed Angulo from Valencia only for him to fail the medical. All your elation comes crashing down.

If he'd failed the medical I'm sure there would be more than just random wannabes on twitter talking about it.

Has a single reputable journalist said anything?

If its being covered on SSN yet, then I doubt its true.

You know Sky would sniff around rumours like this

Well something must be up the day of his medical is almost over and no confirmation!

So? Henderson had his medical today and there has been no confirmation. Has he failed too?
