pessimist/optimist - nail your flag to the mast

No, I don't think we'll get either of the three. Even though I want all of them.

We'll get none. In fact, I think we'll get de Vrij and that's it.

I think we have a good chance to get one or two of them next summer though.

Vidal. There is a good chance but we will pay huge money for him, over £43m.
Di Maria. If we don't get Vidal we will go all out for him, PSG will be sniffing around though.
Hummels. No chance, Dortmund won't sell him this Summer. Be surprised if we get him.
I would love all 3 but I think Vidal is the most important. Let's hope Woodward can do it, I'm still not convinced on him yet.

No chance of all three as I think Hummels is impossible this summer and Di Maria seems like hes going to PSG. Vidal is the most likely but it could fall apart at any moment.

Hopefully we'll sign one, we might sign 2 if we are very lucky but we won't sign 3.

-Vidal is looking the most likely and feel optimistic we'll get him.
-Di Maria is possible but there seems to be serious interest from PSG and he doesn't seem set on a United move, we'll be very fortunate to land him.
-Hummels is not going to happen, I don't even feel pessimistic about it, I just feel like it is absolutley impossible for us to sign him this summer as I don't think he'll leave Dortmund.

Putting it down in meaningless percentages:
Vidal: 75% chance
Di Maria: 30% chance
Hummels: 0.0000001% chance

My muppetry levels are getting quite high now. Close to a meltdown.

It depends. Generally an optimist, not in the sense I think a deal will happen but that I generally hope it will. I can understand pessimism but not those who revel in their pessimistic demeanour. There are a few people who claim to be fans who by the reading of what they say would happily see the club sign nobody, win nothing, be relegated and expunged from the existence of football just so they can say "lol muppets".

I also hate people who early on in a deal say definitively "not happening" or "it's happening" (the latter is quite rare other than when said in irony). It's always so transparently a case of someone trying to look like an 'I told you so' ITK a few weeks later by random guesswork but it just makes them look the biggest tit out of anyone.

I'm a full blown pessimist now. The Thiago saga took my caf muppetry virginity, and I got scolded. I gave everything I had to that chase, and for what? I just can't do that again. I will quietly watch the Vidal thread from time to time. If we sign him, I will clench my fist, and shake it gently, like I've just scored a consolation goal.

Optimist. I personally don't care who we sign, as long as we get reasonably decent players in the positions we are short: CM, Cb, RB and the wing, and we don't do something insane like buy Cavani.
Maybe we will not get a Vidal or Di Maria. But there's a load of players out there who would improve on the dead wood we have in various positions.

We'll drag out the Vidal saga because we won't pay 50p extra that Juve want and then someone else will swoop in with the right offer and he'll go there.

By the time we've done that it'll be too late to go for another midfielder, meanwhile Di Maria will have been a PSG player for the best part of a month or so.

Hummels simply won't entertain leaving to come here but we'll keep thinking he will and therefore fail to sign another defender which we desperately need.

LVG miracles will be needed until we panic buy in January.

Yeah, spot on man..
