Personal attacks and name calling of players

While I don't condone any personal abuse and would not do so myself, the reality is players such as Casemiro, Mount, Hojlund and Shaw will stay here and see out their contracts if we don't put any pressure on them to leave. This will result in us not improving, getting further into debt and is already contributing to job losses for hundreds of staff at the club.

As if fans have any bearing over a player leaving? Give over.

Oh so we should now target and harrass them at their homes?
No of course not, I said in my above post that I do not condone any personal abuse towards the players nor would I partake of it. I also said it was an extreme example but let's be honest if Napoli or Galatasaray were in our situation it would happen long before it got to the point they were 15th place, losing 100 mil per year and mass redundancy.

I doubt any of them will stay if they think they will thrive better elsewhere, ie. play regular football in a team that works. But I’m very sure that Hojlund will leave this summer of things don’t improve - he came here because he’s a fan and it was a chance he couldn’t refuse, not primarily because of the money. He’s young and hungry and will want his career back on track, not stay here and not play.

We are playing badly, but I really don’t get why so many fans seem to think the players don’t care. I think they all do and more so than many of our former “big” names

Can`t give you the other comment you wrote either `I doubt there`s another fanbase in football where a large section of it at any given time seems to despise their own players`.

You seem to be getting confused with the fanbase of the factor clubs in Serie A and B and some of the fans of La Liga clubs. Jeering at and whistling at your own players is an established practice in those leagues and it`s done in their own clubs` stadiums as well the verbal attacks on suppporter forums. Even then it`s a case of empty vessels making the most noise.

Nope.

I used to have logins on the Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal forums. As is always the case in following a football team there were always whingeing supporters/angry supporters when Manchester United was the top dog. Liverpool`s title drought didn`t always show the famed scouse humour, for example, and there were conversations about how this or that `cnut` needed to go. That`s a mild example.

Your exaggeration of the numbers and kinds of supporters who `despite` United players and `hate the squad` also misses the fact that football clubs that have never been highly successful or never successful at all unlike Manchester United will have supporters who are used to their situation.

Nope.

I`m not surprised there are United supporters online who are venting too much or being unfair because our club has managed to undo just about everything it stood for post Sir Alex due to poor boardroom decisions, impatience with managers who couldn`t provide quickly the attacking formula we`d become used to that also won The Treble, not selecting enough for character when buying players, etc etc.

The lack of players who keep pushing when the chips are down on the pitch is notable, too many of the players we`ve had for some time now drop their heads when things go wrong and the undermining of past managers by players on sm such as Luke Shaw should have been dealt with by getting rid. That would have happened under Sir Alex. Criticism is to be expected. However, you`re exaggerating the posters who seem to be incapable of analysis and just make a sentence or two saying they hate this player or that and calling them whatever.

I stand by my opinion.

Nope.

So basically you don`t have any factual rebuttal to those articulated points. Good, time to discuss and debate with people on here who are able to do that and don`t make sweeping assertions about `the United`s fanbase``s supposed `hatred for the squad`, `despising of United players` etc.

Interesting the growing tendency on the cafe for some posters to disagree with others `because` yet calling for more censorship here based on their disagreements.

Which they have every right to do.

There's nothing to rebut to be fair. I have an opinion which based on a decade of comments from lots of United fans on this forum and social media, if that offends you tough. You've provided nothing to change my opinion and I have no desire to change yours, I couldn't give a monkey's what you think.

I didn't ask for any censorship.

So you just felt the need to say they have the right even though it's obvious and no one has said otherwise.

Im genuinely interested, what do you think this poster is trying to say here?

It’s at times like these we need to close ranks more than ever. Turning on each other and our players is the easy way out. It’s what oppos would like us to do.

Unity is our strength.

He is probably trying to say as fans we should put some pressure on those players if we want them to leave before their contracts are up.

Yeah I agree mate, but let's not forget those players have every right to see out their contracts if they choose to do so.

It wouldn't be right for fans to target them or their homes with abuse in an effort to get them to leave.

The second time Ed Woodward's house got targeted he left to give extreme example.

Absolutely there is a line that should never be crossed and I think 99.9% of United fans would agree. I'd still support the fans chanting something funny that also gets the point across; Something like "Fried chicken tastes better in Turkey Luke" or " Leave rainy Manchester for a sunny Saudi summer Casemiro".

Yeah that'd be Super.
