Paulo Dybala

I’d give them Lukaku+£50m no joke either.

Not exactly sure what Lukaku has done to maintain his transfer fee from 2 years ago but I’m not asking questions.

Lukaku got 15 goals, 4 assists in 45 in a relatively shit United side. Lukaku averaged 1.9 shots per goal, including Belgium 4 goals in 2 games. Also 0.8 key passes per game.

Dybala got 10 goals, 5 assists in 42 in a brilliant Juve side. Dybala averaged 2 shots per goal and 1.6 key passes

Yes a different position so not entirely comparable, although most of those came as a CF or second striker.

Both did not have their best years, but both have had fairly impressive statistical careers.

A broad swap is reasonable, if not in favour of Juve. There are very few top strikers in the world. There is a bucket load of AM's.

Realistically, Dybala had a bit of a shocker last year, however, the year before that he was talked about as a player who could potentially break a transfer record.

To replace Lukaku with a player who is still young and has world class potential seems like a no brainer really.

That's formation basically does that. It gets the best out of each player
Well we will need to do the same, implement a formation to get the best out of everyone. Pep literally has like four #10's playing in-front of Fernandhino.

If that journo is telling the truth about Sarri. Sarri will tell Dybala today that he does not have a place for him in this squad. From there is just done. No if's or buts. The idea we won't pay him a top wage is laughable considering what we've shelled out for mediocre veterans.

Lukaku may be a top goal scorer (even though he’s not or at least hasn’t been these past couple years) but he’s by no means a top striker/forward in terms of quality.

He’s the Fellaini of forwards. Sure Fellaini has his benefits and finds a way to get on the scoresheet but it’s ugly and undesirable...like I said, I can appreciate it but I don’t rate/prefer it at Old Trafford.

For what it's worth I think it could be an incredible ploy by Woody. To get Inter to pay more for Lukaku and Sporting to accept less for Fernandes.

Either way its a good deal for us. Whether its Dybala for Lukaku. Or Lukaku goes to Inter for cash and we buy Fernandes.

I'm now abit more optimistic about the last 7 days of the window.

Come on guys!!!

We have been boring as FECK for ages. At the very least, signing Dybala and Fernandes and fielding a team with Pogba, Fernandes, Dybala, Martial and Rashford might concede quite a few goals, but feck me it would be exciting. I'm fed up of boring football, let's adopt Ole's strategy and have an enjoyable season where we just say to the opposition, "Yea you might score the odd goal, but we are going to batter you"

Liked an Instagram post asking him to stay at Juventus and become a legend apparently.
Doesn't really mean much, just probably appreciated that the fan likes him that much. It's up to Juve.

Bruno Fernandes is not a CM. Hes a #10, just more "midfielder" than the attacker type of #10 that Dybala is. He can't just go in and replace Pogba though, he can't play further back as that's just the complete opposite of what he is.

Dybala can play on the right, hes played plenty of his career there as an inside forward, while being best as a second striker type. Him being able to play in both depending on opponent would suit us perfectly next to Martial and Rashford, and bring the perfect blend of goals and creativity to complement them.

I think he is too slow with our new playstyle on the right.

So you would rather get Dybala instead of getting more money to invest in a CB, DM and a CM?

Where would he play? How much would we give up if we had Pogba, Dybala and one mid in our side?

Well we will need to do the same, implement a formation to get the best out of everyone. Pep literally has like four #10's playing in-front of Fernandhino.

Pep is an ideological type of manager. He plays a system that works for him and he'll never divert too much away from it. At Barcelona he forged that team from the academy. He made them how he wanted them to be in the same way Sir Alex did with the class of 92. At Bayern he struggled according to his high standards and then he moved at Shitty. At Shitty he affords buying whoever he wants and fit them in his system. If they fail then he'll sell them and buy a new toy. That's why Mou was so pissed off with us. According to him we didn't offer him the level playing field he wanted to compete with Shitty, which is true cause we can't play real life football manager.

United aren't like that. We can't bring Dybala, we stick him on the RW, see if it works and if it doesn't then we sell him and we bring the next new toy. Thus we need to have a plan. That plan should rotate around playing players in a system they are comfortable in. The earlier we acknowledge that we're not Shitty the better.

For those of you being suspicious about Juve giving up on Dybala, it's obvious tactical decision decision in my opinion. Dybala is a world class second striker and #10, their new coach Sarri is determined to use 4-3-3 so there's no position for him. Allegri used the same formation previous season and Paulo disappointed as RW cutting inside, that's the reason why his reputation stagnated and Juve want to swap him now. Still an elite player perfectly fitting for Ole's pressing, quick and direct 4-2-3-1.

I believe this is a rare kind of deal where all four parties involved benefit. Juve get their battering ram ST to open spaces for Ronaldo, Rom gets his dream move to Serie A, and we get a world class player in return. Dybala himself is probably disappointed that Juve decided to get rid of him suddenly, but he'll soon realise that becoming a key player at Old Trafford and reunion with his best mate PP will do wonders for his career.

Lets just get this deal done ASAP, if Dybala asks for Sanchez tier contract, give it to him. Pogba + Dybala partnership immediately elevates us from upper mid-table quality to 3rd place in PL.

He is a support striker, a right forward and can play as a 10.

Why are some so confused as to how he will fit in? We do not need any wingers who hug the line as we have no one to get on the end of crosses. He does not play in the position Pogba or Fernandes does either although he does drop back to help out when you watch Juventus - that is not a problem.
James for me is raw and one for the future or off the bench, Lingard is so many levels of average and Mata is fading as fast as Matic. Even Rashford and Martial really need to up their games, especially Rashford with his finishing.

He has a 1 in just over 2 goal conversion with Juventus with many of his goals coming from the right side where he cuts in. He would suit our current style a hell of a lot better than Lukaku and the competition he would provide to our other forwards can only help.

Our biggest problem is a lack of DM but even so I can see Dybala, Fernandes and Pogba being in the same team with no problem. Obviously an additional holding midfielder could be added against tougher opposition. Plenty of games next season with Europa and unfortunately I would not lose any sleep if Lingard and Mata got less game time.

I hope we can pull this off although he may say no himself and then none of us have to worry about how he would fit in.

Who did Pep bring through from the academy at Barca?

That’s an excellent summary of my doubts about this transfer.
Yeah, I'm overwhelmingly excited about signing him, but think he may well flop. Our squad hasn't been setup to utilise a #10 for years now, and we've so many other big name signings just not bed in, even if you consider Zlatan and Pogba to have delivered.

Already seems there's an agreement between Juve and Man Utd about their valuatuons so that isn't a problem.

If you dont know the answer to that then why are you even on this forum? Man Utd is one of the biggest football clubs in the world, with a history that goes back to 1878. They've arguably been at the top of the football pyramid for over a century. A football club with a proven track record of turning young players into worldwide superstars. How would it not be an honour to play for United?

Don’t you know it’s cool for United fans to be self-loathing these days?

All these kids have City and Liverpool supporting mates and are being embarrassed in the school playground. If only we had someone like Poch as manager and a Director of Football, then everyone would want to sign for us...

Yep, the clubs have agreed the swap as per media. The only things left are

1. Dybala hearing it direct from Sarri
2. Agreeing wage with MUFC.

Ten days before the season starts and Woodward is still p*****g about with transfers. Scenario then: Dybala, who according to the Media doesn’t want to leave Juve, is swapped for Lukaku tomorrow. Comes for a medical and agrees personal terms which will be costly. The earliest he will tip up at Carrington is the weekend leaving a few days to find his way around, somewhere to live etc etc. He is unlikely to make a difference for at least a month. Another unprofessional transfer. Looks like Pogba will be staying now too.

tbh Sarri feeling Dybala doesn't fit his style is strange, this is a man who persisted with Hazard as a false 9 over and over again last season at Chelsea and played Mertens in the same role at Napoli

Sarri adapting his style? The Ronaldo factor at work?

Looking likelier than Maguire now. Convinced we’ll get a defender though, considering Bailly is out for 5 months.

If this ends in nothing but a new contract for Dybala I might cry.

I think the rate that it’s progressing can only be promising though.

Dont wanna piss on muppets dream but i really dont like this whole thing one bit.

People asked if Bruno and Pogba can be in the same team. The answer was mixed.

Now people are asking if Bruno, Pogba and Dybala can play in the same team. Surely we're pushing the boundaries here.

If we sign Dybala and Bruno, then Pogba is gone I'd think.

We'd be mental not to sign a defender, especially when we're so close to a solid defence. I think it has been reported that we're definitely getting a defender, even if it's not Maguire.
