Paulo Dybala

Is Dybala a top player, yes he is..

Do I want us to replace Lukaku with a better player, definitely, I'm just tired of seeing him failed us in link up play and think we're dying for an upgrade. And yes like most of our fans 10 day before the end of the transfer window, I'm desparate for new signings.

However I can't help but be skeptical about this one.

Dybala is a one position player, that's the reason he is not playing for Juventus. Not because he is not good or he didn't settle in Torin. He is a classic number 10. He can't play in wings, can't be a number 9 and he's definitely not an 8. So we have to change our our style of play to accommodate him.

We can't play 4-5-1 with Pogba in a double pivot, we've been here before. We can't play with a Dimond 4-4-2 as we don't have a top class finisher, we can't possibly rely on 2 of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood with Dybala behind two of them for the rest of the season, we still need a top finisher which we don't have, the only finisher we've been linked with was Ben Yedder. And I still can't see our team playing with no width in a 4-4-2 Dimond as both Shaw and AWB aren't famous for their attacking prowess and top crosses.

We can't go back to 3-5-2 with Dybal behind a lone striker like they did in Juventus in 2015-16 when Pogba and Dybala were together and had a great season. Cause simply we don't have proper wing backs to provide the support needed and again, we don't have a top finisher.

I'm just a naive fan who think he knows a thing or two from watching football for almost 30 years. But this looks to me like one for the books not for the game itself.

We aren't lacking in number 10, and no Dybala is not here as an upgrade to Lingard, Pogba himself is a number 10, the thing is, there is no actual need for a classic number 10 anymore in modern football for God's sake! We are very thin in the Middle, we need more DMs and CMs, we need an upgrade for Lukaku, and we need a defender. These positions are the backbone for any football team, and although we can fill other positions too once a chance present itself, it seems odd the bring a player who will create a hassle for us just to accommodate while ignoring our priorities.

I just hope we know what we're doing.

I agree but Dybala isn't a classic No 10, he isn't that great at creating chances and pulling the strings. He's more of a 2nd striker.

Agent Pat

When they say this, I genuinely believe Pat DID SING down the phone.

"PAULOOOOOOOOOOO MY MAN, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY, I LOVE THIS GAME HAA HAA!. COME TO SIGN WITH THE RED DEVILS OF MANCHESTER, COME AND JOIN PAUL AND BE A LEGEND LIKE ME HAAAA HAAAAA, CIAO PAULO!"

A lot of people seem to not want Dybala, let me ask you this, if we sell Lukaku for £70m the who do we replace him with that would be an improvement? Is this player that we would get be better than Dybala?

Dybala situation would be nothing like Di Maria, Falcao or Sanchez.

Di Maria wanted to go to PSG, Dybala doesn't want to go to anyone but stay at Juve, but he has a stronger mentality than Di Maria from what I can tell, and seems to be open to a fresh challenge.

Falcao was almost 30 years old and recovering from a serious injury that he never fully recovered from whilst at United.

Sanchez was also almost 30 and clearly on the decline physically and injuries have plagued him whilst here.

Dybala is 25 and in his prime or about to enter it. Not wanting a player of his talent here is crazy.

PAULO, ICI C'EST MANCHESTER!!

Only because most United fans dislike Lukaku and overrate Dybala. I think there are more PL goals in Lukaku than in Dybala. And it's not like Dybala is a top creator, he contributed 9 assists over the last two Serie A seasons, about as many as Lukaku. Juventus bosses are anything but stupid.

This is my worry as well. Initially really excited but then you ask why did Juventus come up with this idea. They're brilliant in the market, while we're terrible in the market. Do they know something we don't?

Might be wrong but Sarri arrived in June. Not seen anyone this summer saying Dybala needs to move because he doesn't fit in with Ronaldo and Sarri. Suddenly this swap deal appears and it's obvious Dybala doesn't fit Juve?

Hopefully its just worrying over nothing & the last few years have made me cynical.

The creator got the original press pic, found a picture of Dybala at a similar angle to the player in the original, and cut and pasted Dybala’s head on it, then used a noise filter over the top with probably another speckle filter, then added the SnapChat icons. It probably took 5-10 mins.
Oh OK. Thanks for that.

And then he added Woody (maybe), changed the name on the shirt and created a pic that looks "reasonably" genuine. And then the world went mad at his awful photoshop skills. Give the guy a break. It's funny.

I'm a bit skeptical about this one. As much as Dybala is a quality player, I really don't want us to change our style to fit him in.

If he can play as a conventional number 9, or a false 9 for that matter, then I'm happy. However if he needs to be played a bit deeper than that to accomodate his style, then I can't see this transfer working out tbh.

Not saying I'd rather have Lingard and Co playing there, but I feel we should find a more suitable signing.

Woody and the name are just cut and paste jobs, he hasn’t actually manipulated any image to an advanced level. I’m not knocking the guy, but it’s not advanced photoshop.

His handle is dutch for april fools.

Is it me or has he pulled that smile before?

Clearly just a face he pulls regularly, exactly the same with that stray but if sweaty hair over his forehead. Just the style at the moment.

what style is that exactly? Losing?

This, agree with this completely. It seems we are signing him because we can and what he will do for the brand, what he will do for the team is a distant second thought. We need a DM, a CB and a RW not another square peg in a round hole whilst we still have a similar issue with another overpaid superstar who flopped (Sanchez) and still struggle with the issue of where to play Pogba.

Mature response. Ole clearly has a high intensity, high-press style with pace up front for counter attacks.

Dybala isn't typically a player you would associate with those attributes.

Unless of course he is played in the number 10 role, but then our midfield becomes unbalanced as Pogba would have to sit much deeper.

I'm torn on Dybala.

On the one hand I think he's absolute class. A top player, underrated on this forum and one who I have said United should buy in the past. He could play any of three positions for us (striker, no.10, right wing) and be better than anyone we have in the squad in those roles. Plus we will never get a better deal for him. He is coming off a bad season and Juventus want to sell. Swapping him for Lukaku + a bit of cash is far more tempting than having to pay a massive fee.

On the other hand I don't think he fits with Solskjaer's vision for United in terms of pace and work rate. Dybala isn't slow but his pace doesn't really trouble defenders and he's also not a player who is used to pressing and contributing when his side don't have the ball. There's also the question of his motivation for joining us. The Italian journos who have been reporting this story say that Dybala wanted to stay at Juventus until they made it clear they wanted him out and then his first choice was to join PSG. This is the same situation that happened with Di Maria so hopefully we have learned from it.

Easy match by United. That’s actually a discount considering top players get paid above 250k weekly.

Why are people lapping up that GDS report about Evra ringing Dybala? What did Dybala/Evra do when they got off the phone? Contact GDS? feck off

To be frank, this is the kind of change he needs to jump start his career. He's been stagnant a bit with Juventus, he was comfortable, the league was getting easy as the closest competition was probably Napoli and they didn't really have anyone competing with him for playing time until Ronaldo came along and he was taken out of his element.

Now he'll have to work on his weaknesses, compete with other hungrier players and learn to adapt. It's up to him if he has it in his character but I hope solskjær did his homework on that front by talking to Evra and Pogba who played alongside him in the past.

Yeah, wage info coming from the continent is always net, not gross. If those are true Dybala wants to be our top earner.

Too much money. I'd avoid. We need to settle an example and giving him such a huge salary certainly won't help. He should be honored to play for Manchester United.

We need a better squad.

We can't rely on Martial,Rashford,James,Lingard,Greenwood alone to provide us goals.

Injuries also happen, having a player of Dybala's quality can only be a good thing.

Obviously the motivation side of things we need to make sure he DEFINITELY want's to play here and England, but if Juve have made it clear he's got no future there what better place to come? Di Maria was initially fine but he fell out with LVG and his boring football, I think if we played more freely like we do today, he would have been perfectly happy.

This. Anything above £1200/month is ridiculous.

Why should he be honoured to play for United?
