Paulo Dybala

He's 28, not sure why everyone is making in sound like he's 30+

Yeah it's odd. He is a good player and better than what we have. If Ten Hag wants him and he wants to come I see no problem

Just knew the second I seen him trending on twitter he'd been linked with us.

I genuinely think he doesn't have a lead on a club, he was supposed to go to Inter and then they got Lukaku back while keeping Lautaro. So his agent either wants to drum up some interest or they are open to the move.

His stock has fallen so low. Weird for a player many were excited about just a couple years ago. I haven’t watched Juve in a while but im all for the signing if we feel we can make it work. Our attack is absolutely shite as it is currently.

Wouldn't someone like Dybala essentially allow us to have a completely fluid front line? His ability to play in multiple positions, play others through, tackle and intercept passess is extremely good for a forward, so he probably would suit Ten Hag quite well? For a free, if Ronaldo goes, wouldn't be the worst option in the world. He's not the player he once was, but he's still a very good technical player.

If we add Antony to the attack we'd basically have a fluid front 4.

Previous regime: Lets sign a load of mercenaries only interested in Money.

New regime: We've learnt from the mistakes of the past. No more money wasted on players we don't particularly need.

Also...lets spunk 300k a week on player who has never really been interested in coming here, doesn't suit our style of play and has no real record of consistency of scoring tons of goals, because ya know it's Dybala.

I'd rather us sign somebody like Ivan Toney.

Dybala does have talent but he sadly comes with all the same red flags as so many of our previous transfer flops. Inconsistent, high wages and injury concerns.

If he gets 300k a week then our negotiating team are not very good. He literally has no options, if there were multiple teams chasing him, may be then he could get that amount as he would have a bit of leverage.

I am all for the signing should Ronaldo leave. The only downside to the deal is the injuries. I would hope the club would do their findings and check if he is a risk worth taking. The financials though I have very little concern about, he wouldn't get anything close to the numbers people are speculating on here. In fact I think he would be very lucky if the club offers him 200k a week.

Dybala would add cover for little money and serve as stop gap cover for our front line while not sidetracking our recruitment this summer.
Signing Toney would cost what? 35 to 40m and we would have to wave goodbye to maybe an Antony or another player Ten Hag pin pointed for his rebuild.
It comes down to what Ten Hag wants and if he thinks Dybala plus a first choice target is better than Toney and not getting the first choice target in then surely we have to trust the manager?

He didn't want to come to us before, we're in an even worse position now, he'd not sign for peanuts, he'd want silly silly money.

If EtH has asked for him as reported then who are you or I to disagree?

Surely that’s what’s important

Yeah, I'd go along with that if he were convinced. I think it's highly unlikely though. And it seems to stem from Dybala's camp.

He literally has no other options though. If he’s demanding big money then he isn’t coming and this is an entire waste of a discussion. My point is if he is an option which would mean his wage demands are more than reasonable.

He’s best mates with Pogba so that should be enough to make us steer clear.

Too lightweight and fragile for EPL. Nice footballer but this would be the wrong league.

I remember thinking he’d be a good but not great signing… what seems like years ago. He fecked us around. Not convinced Juventus is preparing players for the rigors of the Prem. There have to be better options. 30 years old and switching to a faster, more physical league sounds like a really bad plan. I’d be surprised if there was any truth to this rumor.

He was more than willing to come to us, the issue was the image rights not being owned by the player, Tottenham ran into an identical issue.

Cavani had no options and we still signed him on a free on big wages even later in the transfer window

He's a fantastic player to watch, He'd he brought in as a false 9 surely?

Yes, I think he'd be great with Rashford/Sancho and Antony on the wings, Frenkie, Bruno, Eriksen, it gives me really good vibes.

Wrong profile of player, would be a mistake. Not saying its impossible he's a success but we should be avoiding older players looking for their last payday especially ones on a downward trajectory.

I wouldn’t mind it, really. People saying they’d prefer “insert average striker here” — I’m actually of the opposite opinion. I’d rather we get a bit zesty and play a false 9 with a player who has the potential to be great like Dybala than settle for a bog standard striker because the market is in the bin.

Wasn’t he off to Benfica before we stepped in?
Pretty sure that Benfica move was talked about early on in the window and never seemed to materialise for whatever reason. If it was close for them it was taking a long time for them to seal the deal.

So what is his personality like? Is he a disruptive precense etc? Again I don't know much about the player, just that he can play as a false 9 and has a fairly high reputation.

I just dont see why people would be against it otherwise considering how light we are in attack, especially if our only goalscorer leaves and we needed another forward anyway.

Keep those wages down, keep that contract short, and if that means it's just an additional player that doesn't impact our summer budget then it won't be the end of the world.

If he isn't paid silly money and most importantly ETH wants him and can get a good tune out of him, then it makes sense. We're at risk that for any striker we do now go for, the transfer fee, or in Dybalas likely case his wages, being asked will be inflated as everyone knows Ronaldo wants to leave and we've essentially been backed into a corner. The budget is fecked either way, so its a toss up between high salary or high fee plus smaller salary for an alternative.

Cavani was on 150-200k which was less than he was getting at PSG. It's not that they wouldn't be offered decent wages but it wouldn't be the sort of figures people are speculating. Less we forget, his agents are the ones who approached the club. Dybala could afford to be picky when we were chasing him two years ago because he had a contract with Juventus, right now he has nothing and there is no indication any other big club would offer him anything.

If there's actually any truth in him not wanting to come in 2019 do we really blame him? We had just finished sixth and had a manager who had done nothing outside of Norway (No offense, Norway). Of course ten Hag still has it all to prove at the top level but he's a very highly regarded coach who has performed well in the CL and had success at a big club in Ajax. They're two completely different propositions and it would make sense for Dybala to be more keen to join us now, so labelling him a mercenary is a bit harsh.

A brilliantly talented player, at 28 is a good age for a 3 year deal but would have to be part of a forward line that has Ronaldo or replaces him with a goalscorer. With cavani Greenwood and Ronaldo leaving there is room for dybala in the squad, but i have no enthusiasm for signing him in the wrong context

Might get a good 3 months out of him if he's pushing to get into the world cup squad.

Argentinian though. When was the last time or ever when Argentinian was good for us.
Heinze?

Would be a good foil for our wide players, but certainly would have been more excited about this a few years back.

Always going to have a soft spot for him as he was a key player in my last United Football Manager save, alongside Rashford and Icardi!
