Paulo Dybala

Ahh ok fair enough. Would put an end to the Sancho idea, which is a shame. I know a lot of fans like the diamond but I prefer to play with width.
Sancho is 12 months from now if it happens. The next season is vital. We need champions league football. We need to show progress. Let’s worry about him later. If we sign him next summer then sure we can play with wingers every game. But we got to surprise opponents and use different systems to counter act different problems. Diamond is just one method we could use with Dybala here.

Aren't you the guy that claimed changing Martial's shirt number had some sort of voodoo effect on him? Now you're advocating for taking Rashford's?
No the shirt number shows what position you play. Strikers should wear #9, wingers and wide players wear #7 and #11, CAM's/SS wear #10 and so on.

Must. Not. Believe.

Even if the Juve deal is true, its hard to see why he would want to sign up for our top 4 battle. God id love to see us someone pull this off though
At the risk of looking like a moron this time next season, if we sign Maguire and Dybala I don't think it'll be much of a battle.

How did Paul Scholes go his entire career playing in central midfield without wearing the proper number !!!???

Truly the man was a genius beyond what we even thought.

They haven't done that in decades.

If Dybala signs I doubt the club will be giving him the 10 unless Rashford willingly takes the 9.

For everyone saying Di Maria all over again - DDG wanted to leave and remained our best player

This is a deal I hope doesn't happen. Will be DiMaria part 2.

For a Lukaku swap, I could care less & easy to say that now.

Ole playing 4231 is promising enough. Dybala will be surrounded by a youthful attack whereas Di Maria was here when our core players/attack were past their primes and with an out of date/touch manager.

Hopefully he’s more Aguero than Di Maria. I don’t think he’s got a shit attitude. I’m all for this think he can do great under a decent set up.

Dybala now and throw in Sancho next season with Greenwood and Gomes coming through and we’ll be set

Great player but is he a great fit? How will he work in our press? What role will he play and what does it mean for our other forwards and where they play?

Di Marzio, Pedulla, Agresti are peddling what Juve wants them to, this Lukaku stuff is smokescreen. They want Inter to hurry up and sign Lukaku so they can sign Icardi, he's been their CF target all along.

I just hope we're lining up a new striker in case we get rid of Lukaku because I can see board clipping that signing off due to paucity of time.

I beg to differ, I watched the likes of Watford etc carve our midfield apart last season. Is basically a 1 man midfield defensively. As i said though, it would be very ballsy of Ole and i couldn't complain about being too attacking.

So did West Ham. Can’t believe people think our midfield is ok. We have nobody who can dictate the game. McTominay has improved, but he needs to look forward a lot more.

I have very little time for IDK bullshit, but Harris is a legit (if low profile) writer that I have respected for years

Brilliant player, would be such a jump in quality at #10 for us, I'm just unsure whether he'd actually want to be here.

My poor Muppet heart can't bear another high priced numpty ala Di Maria. My gut says he'd do great though, but he's always been an optimist.

On paper is this sounds great. Replace a plauer that relies on pbysifaliph and lacks technique with one of the most impressive and technical second strikers around.

However despite this seeming a great piece of business if we pull it off, is Dybala really all that he was hyped up to be ? And does he fit in at United?

I'm not so sure, I think Dybala working within klopps system does better than firmino with both goals and assists. I think he's an overall better player and given the right conditions would be a proper superstar
That's potential. And based on current ability, we already know Firmino is a world class forward and I doubt Dybala has the work rate to press like Firmino.

I was just going to ask what Dybala's workrate is like. Of course Firmino is exceptional at pressing, but is Dybala competent at it or just not very good in that sense? After Lukaku and the Mourinho era, our SS and CF needs to be willing to press well.

Dybala will be flop if we sign him. Mark my words. Any Juventus fans would agree with me.

This is one of those transfers that makes so much sense that we're never going to do it. One of the systems that Ole played last season was a diamond with Mata / Lingard at the tip of the diamond and Rashford / Martial as two strikers.

On offense: 4-4-2 with Dybala as False 9, Can easily convert to a traditional 4-2-3-1 in fixtures where we can field a more offensive line up - we simply replace one of Matic / McTominay with James / Mata / Lingard and play Dybala at AM and Rashford at CF.

-------------------- De Gea ------------------------
-- AWB -- Maguire -- Lindelof (Smalling) -- Shaw
----------------- Matic (Longstaff / Rojo?) --------
-------- McTominay (Fred?) -- Pogba (?) ---------
------------ Dybala (Mata / Lingard) --------------
--------Rashford --------------------- Martial ------

On defense: 4-5-1

-------------------- De Gea ------------------------
-- AWB -- Maguire -- Lindelof (Smalling) -- Shaw
----------------------- Matic ------------------------
---Rashford ----- McTominay -- Pogba --- Martial
----------------------- Dybala -----------------------

Tevez and Romero both did/have done well at United.

Heinze was a fan favourite for a while.

If we were going to buy a South American, Argentines have had the most success at United.

Dybala now and throw in Sancho next season with Greenwood and Gomes coming through and we’ll be set

And throw in some development from at least one of Martial and Rashford, and we have an attack for the next 5 years.

At least, that's a dream which fans can get behind.

Time will tell.

12 months back, he would have been going for the price of a Joao Felix. He has had a tough season and his price has come down.

We are not paying for guaranteed success but a phenomenal talent who has had a rough 12 months.

Our lack of pbysifaliph means Lukaku will never thrive here anyway. So taking a chance on Dybala is a no brainer.

If and it's a big if we pull this off, even if he doesn't work out as well as we'd hoped he will still be a decent squad option and someone that we might be able to sell on in a year or so. Plus he's one more option on freekicks and isn't Lingard playing at 10 so it's worth a punt.

 I've got the best words

If we're playing with a proper number 10 next season, he would be a truly amazing signing. I just struggle to believe he'd actually want to come here at the moment, and player signing for big money who isn't really into it? Never the best, although obviously it does work out some times.

He should be fine, but might have to sub him off some games.

Maybe he'd want to come here though?

Him and Pogba got/get along and he had that tweet about Old Trafford.

You never know.

Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Dybala, James and the kids (Greenwood/Gomes) is some impressive firepower. Just hope the youngsters continue to get chances instead of Mata and Lingard taking up their space.

I can't believe it's taken this long for somebody to recognise our over reliance on pbysifaliph. Good riddance I say.

The muppet inside of me is throwing away all reason of logical squad building and putting aside all logic as to why this deal isn't going to happen and dreaming that it'll happen. Not even a massive fan of his, but the potential is massive. Genuinely feel like there even is a small percentage that it'll happen. Talk that Juve has been interested in Lukaku for a while, Dybala will want to go if he doesn't have an important role (which is looking likely), and United look like probably the main destination for him. We'll see, but a potential formation below could be brilliant.

Martial Rashford
Dybala
Pogba McTominay Lingard
Shaw Maguire Lindelof Wan Bissaka
De Gea

Transfer makes no sense, he’s not going to fit into the hardworking constant press Ole wants. Simply media stuff to pressure Inter into coughing up the dough...

What sounds better, having Lingard at the 10 as a starter or Dybala? ...
