Paulo Dybala

Martial/Rashford will be LW/Striker for league games. Mandzukic will lead the line in carabao and Europa. That's the only explanation I can come up with. Otherwise I still think we don't need him. If Rashford and Martial both get injured we should just trust Greenwood don't need to increase our already oversized squad

Neither Martial or Rashford have impressed hugely as a ST imo and pinning hopes on a 17 year old is crazy - Mandzukic is clinical and he is a pressing monster, he will press like hell from the front despite his age.

It definitely wouldn't hurt Greenwood to watch and learn from him. Let Rashford and Martial battle it out over the LW.

What would be best though is for Dybala to arrive and fulfill his potential, while at the same time Gomes establishes himself in the side and performs excellently. Win-win all round, and no need for any of these
Having a balanced 4-2-3-1 with Dybala and Gomes battling to be no.10 would be ideal. That's not going to happen though. My scenario is far more likely to happen. If we get Dybala, do you think he will play most games on the right or central? Do you think there's any chance of him playing to his potential on the right?

I’m not sure about the answers to your questions, although I hope he’ll play as central and as close to goal as possible. In the event that he and Gomes can get on the pitch at the same time and both play to their potential then we’re in for a special time going forward. So despite my reservations about this signing I’d rather focus on the potential upside for the moment.

How long does image rights and such usually take ? With only 4 days left im not confident because of our dithering method we take AGES over everything.

If image rights are the only thing stopping the deal, can't see it not happening.

I agree theres just been to many let downs in the past and our methos for taking a long time to do things is frustrating. But I trust your judgement by all accounts Lukaku side of things is all agreed that wouldnt be the case if there was any major things to be done :)

Do you lads see him start vs Chelsea if he signs? Our second game is Wolves away so also not too easy a fixture to bed somebody in. Same for Maguire and potentially Bruno.

Mandzukic and Kean were bench players, who barely played last season. If you sign Icardi or Higuain they expect to start and you cannot play both of them together especially with Ronaldo. They also still have Higuain.
Higuain will be off, roma apparently

I think he comes off the bench vs Chelsea and starts vs Wolves thats my guess

Have seen something about there being some sort of legal dispute for the image rights, however I don't know the exact details of the situation.

This €40m figure has been banded about but needs someone closer to the deal.

It wont be just image rights, its Dybala himself. The guy just does not want to leave Juve, a LOT of persuading still to be done id guess

If i remember correctly, there was another signing a few years ago that was held up on image rights... was it Di Maria? I don't quite remember, but i do remember it went quiet for a few days then all progressed quickly.
Image rights can take a while, or go quickly, just depends on how complex the situation is i imagine?

How do we know? Because the papers say he doesn't want to leave?
As things stand, with what they've done to him (forcibly getting him to leave, not giving him any kind of choice etc) i'd say he's a little annoyed with them and is quite possibly happy to negotiate with us. Can't say for certain though, as no one knows what he's thinking. If was absolutley dead set on staying, this deal would have collapsed DAYS ago.

Think it might've been Rojo with the haggle over his image rights being due to the fact a 3rd party agency was also involved in the transfer if I remember correctly

I reckon he will be bench for Chelsea and Wolves but Maguire I think will be ready to go straight away.

all valid points. If you consider the Italian media's slant, some of whom are pretty well sourced, he does not want to leave but Utd are pushing. Our media seem to be spinning a similar point of view. Juve cannot force him to go regardless. If he doesn't go they wont bench him and never use him, no chance. Plus side is within 4 days there will be a definite answer. I think you'll get Mandzukic regardless

No not a chance, he hasn’t even started any pre-season yet.

That is why I said if it is only image rights. I would guess with 4 days to go we are definitely not in a phase "he doesn't want to leave Juve" and know his position more clearly.

If he stays, i'd say they would bench him and look to offload him at the earliest opportunity.
The club have made it clear that he's not wanted and he doesn't fit into his plans. Even the guy considered Sarris mouthpiece has said Sarri doesn't consider him part of his plans, so his future there is bleak at best

I have always thought if he does not come to you, and was still there past August 31, Juve would use him he is too talented not to. But I could also imagine him and icardi swapping. Be a very good signing for you if you got him, though

I'd honestly say if that girlfriend thing is real this is actually probably maybe possibly on.

There are many girls around, but only one Manchester United. Dybala shouldn’t think twice if it’s his girlfriend who doesn’t want to move. She can be replaced much easier than she ever imagined :)

He'd be a fantastic signing, and all signs point to him signing, but it remains to be seen at the moment.
I think regardless of what happens, his days at Juve are most likely over now. The way he's been treated is pretty crap to say the least, and it's very clear that Juve don't really care about him. They want Lukaku and know we want Dybala, so to them, they'll do whatever it takes to make it happen, including, supposedly, having the top guys tell Dybala he MUST take Uniteds offer.
