Paulo Dybala

This is just all I see looking at these teams. Going to be painful if I have to watch this guy as a main starter next year :(
With the right role and right players in front of him, he would be a good balancing player IMO. Right now he gets hated a lot more and fails to perform because he has the expectation to score and create way more in a more advanced role. A deeper role would get more out of him in terms of impact, and be less reliant on his weaker points.

He’s as strong as a fly. He’d be a mess playing deeper with more bodies around him.

He played a deeper role in a midfield 3 for England the entire WC last year iirc. He's got the stamina, agility, bite and ability to dribble through the middle. He cannot be relied upon to provide goals and assists on a regular basis, especially as a first xi player. but he does have a role in the squad and is arguably the best pressing/closing down player which looks to be important for Ole going forward.

I just can’t wrap my head around us signing him. If I had to group players into categories in how likely I thought we’d sign them - I’d put him in the lowest one possible as in “never even entered my mind that we’d sign him”.

This may end up being a luxury signing - but it seems like a very useful one. A versatile player but has a bucket load of quality that could be Ballon d’Or worthy if it clicks right.

I still hope we get Fernandes somehow but I doubt we’d get both.

If we sign him, it’s a no brainier to play him as a no.10. With Rashford, Martial, and James or Greenwood running off him, we’ll have tons of options going forwards. Basically takes Jessie fecking Lingard’s place in the team. Which is a huge bonus.

Who do people think is the more reliable Italian source out of Romano & Pedulla.

I wonder if the fact that he doesn't want this loss of £25m due to no champions league clause in his contract could be holding up the deal too.

I've wanted us to sign Dybala since he broke through at Palermo. So excited.
I've not been this excited about a potential transfer in a really long time, I'm praying this goes through, it'd be brilliant to watch him for United. Proper statement of intent to sign him too.

If we do this over the weekend there is still time to sell Lingard before the window closes. Maybe there is a director of football somewhere in United’s management.

He’s just a proper footballer isn’t he? Even if he doesn’t set the world alight (which I feel he will), he will still be a massive improvement on Lukaku.

Very odd for people not wanting Dybala. Plain and simple is that he's a high quality player and United need to have as many quality players as possible. It's up to Ole and staff to figure out player partnerships and balance to create the most effective squad.

Would be glad to have Dybala and his quality at United and see how it plays out. If not, can still get a transfer fee for him one would think...although who knows with Woody/Judge and contract

Romano is generally more reliable, but with Sarri now at Juventus, Pedulla has to be taken seriously on this particular transfer.

If we sign Maguire and Dybala in the last week of the transfer window, no one can argue that isn’t a massive upgrade to our squad.

We still need another CM because the drop off after Pogba and McTominay is huge. But have to feel if we are playing 4-2-3-1 this season, the two will be McT and Pogba, with Fred, Matic and Andreas in reserve. In the next window/summer, if we can swap Matic with someone better and more mobile, and add Sancho to the RW. We will have an incredible squad.

At that point you ship out Mata, Sanchez and Young, and bring in another left back to compete, and perhaps another goal scorer. After the purchase window closes on Aug 8th, I expect to see Darmian and Rojo leave this summer. After next summer I would expect the squad to be:

GK: De Gea
GK: Romero
GK: Henderson

RB: Wan-Bissaka
RB: Dalot
LB: Shaw
LB: NEW SIGNING (2020)

CB: Maguire
CB: Lindelof
CB: Tuanzebe
CB: Jones
CB: Smalling

CM: McTominay
CM: Pogba
CM: NEW SIGNING (2020)
CM: Fred
CM: Andreas

FR: NEW SIGNING (Sancho 2020)
FR: Greenwood
FC: Dybala
FC: Gomes
FL: Rashford
FL: Chong

SC: Martial
SC: NEW SIGNING (Dembélé 2020)

Out this summer: Lukaku (for Dybala), Darmian (for peanuts), Rojo (for the love of god)

Out next summer: Young (released), Matic (sold to Serie A), Sanchez (China), Bailly (Darren Anderton’s Care home for the infirm), Mata (GQ).

Burned at the stake: Lingard (Under a full moon).

If, and that is a big if, we get the players you mentioned I think we'd have the most well-balanced team we've had since SAF. Not to mention how young the core would be too, De Gea aside not one of them would be in their prime, so to speak. We'd have to keep hold of players like De Gea and Pogba, adding Dybala and Maguire is a clear and huge improvement to the team and it looks like we might finally be heading in the right direction, took us fecking long enough. Saying that, the deals for Maguire and Dybala are far from certainties.

England's midfield was shocking that tournament (what's new I know), but we barely created any chances from open play. I wouldn't put any stock into him being chosen to play there by Southgate. Lingard cannot dribble at all imo. He rarely attempts any take-ons at all and he's rarely successful too. I think he's one of the worst players in our squad (which says a lot) and I would sell him yesterday. How many goals & assists did he provide this year? He's an attacker who can't pass, can't score & can't dribble. But he loves to run around aimlessly. He's useless.

Dybala on big money just isn’t a classic United type of signing. I hope he works out but I get the feeling he won’t for us.

I find it hard to love any big name signing who doesn’t see United as the pinnacle. It’s obvious this guy will be here for the cash & when Pogba goes we’ll have another one to keep happy.

Dybala is obvs a finer footballer than Pepe for example but u get the feeling United will lack cutting edge up front next season.

Wilfred Zaha was brilliant for us & fit our style far more than a world class player like Veron ever did.

Dybala just seems Mata 2.0. I hope I’m really wrong & he and Pogba stay to become legends here! I seriously doubt that though.

No way Lingard gets sold, it's far more likely he plays on the right to do a bit of Dybala's running for him.

On the other hand, I can definitely see Dybala ending Mata's career at Old Trafford, as i can't really see them playing together.

Juventus don't think meeting is needed and expects Dybala to find agreement with ManUtd.

This should be obvious but we wouldn't set up against Perth Glory, or any pre seaaon game really, in a 433 or whatever our plan for the harder fixtures would be, because it's pointless.
Of course, we should practice it as little as possible in actual games against actual opponents. We should also keep it secret from our players too, in case they're actually spying for the opposition. That should be obvious.

Lukaku - Dybala swap
Darmian - Mandzukic swap

Win-Win for both clubs :D

It is positive to replace Lukaku immediately with a player that supposedly fit our way of playing a bit more than he did. False 9, a 10, inverted right winger. We certainly have space in our attacking line up to give Dybala a fair chance to find himself at the club.
Consistent dribler and scores the occasional screamer but questions about decision making and effectiveness. He obviously has superb technical abilities and scores a world class goal once in a while but so did Ben Arfa at times as well. He is only a year *younger* than Lingard and they both share the problem of having a bad output in front of goal. He could turn out as another Lingard where everyone think he is young forever, wanting him to do well while the reality slowly sinks in that he'll never be good enough. I do hope he comes to the club, and hopefully he'll be more like Aguero for us in terms of impact rather than say a player like Ayoze Perez.

Dybala shits on Lingard from great heights when it comes to goals and assists. Last season was the exception. Dybala is year younger than Lingard and no one consider Dybala as young player.

Yes, no, I know. Beyond Dybala being shifted out of his preferred position to accommodate Ronaldo, could you or anyone who might know anything shed any light on maybe why his output last season suffered? Did he actually have a great season but only lacked goals and assist, or did he suffer from poor form or maybe even some attitude problems perhaps?

Bro, did you just compare Paulo fecking dybala to Lingard? Lingard shouldn't even be a United player, let alone playing for the first team.

I am surprised about this transfer speculation though. Always thought he would end up in Barcelona. But we still need a CM and a CB. Somebody posted City's second team, and it absolutely destroys our first team. We need depth and we desperately need quality. Ed needs to have a successful transfer window if he doesn't want #GlazerOut protests on the first day of the season.

And I am still worried about the depressingly low amount of chances we create. That is why our forwards misses are so often under the microscope. It just adds to the pressure. WE NEED A MIDFIELD.

He would take his spot you'd assume, so yes it is a relevant comparison since Lingard is infact in the team.

Imagine if Dybala pulled the pin on this transfer :nervous:

Would it be fair to say that save for Mbappe and Sancho this would be a dream signing for everyone at United? Still young with some room to grow, very, very talented, more experienced then our current forwards, after a meh season would have something to prove, plays his best as a false 9/ creative forward, plus a recognizable name and a good looking guy making him a dream for our marketing department. I can see why he would be an absolute priority over someone like Fernandes. A history of playing very well with our best player is also no bad thing.

Please let it be true
