Argentina is to Italy/Spain, what Canada is to the UK/Ireland.
Dybala has Italian family, for instance. Messi is of both Italian and Spanish heritage. Pretty sure Maradonna is, too.
In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone in Argentina who doesn't trace their lineage back to either Italy or Spain or both.
Aye, there was mass immigration from Italy to Argentina in the Victorian era. There was some to England too. Manchester had the largest population pro-rata. Ancoats used to be known as little Italy but many were deported when Italy allied with Germany in the war. Some remained though and I know a number of English Italian families. When they first arrived here they sold Italian ice Cream and were known as the ice cream families. Ant Crolla is from one of those families.
