Goes by profiles of players rather than individuals. Love this attitude. If Pogba didn't come, no problem - just buy the next player on Jose's list who fits his positional profile.

That sounds great, but the 'positional profile' Pogba fits is certainly different than anyone else we've been linked to (Matuidi, Matic etc.) There's very few - if any - central midfielders like Pogba, so the idea that we can just move to target two with the same game plan we have if Pogba was signed seems odd.

Not so sure its necessarily a positional profile - probably a certain set of characteristics Jose wants out of certain players in certain positions. That said, I hope the Pogba deal is wrapped up this weekend so the narrative can change back to the squad.

Aye, that probably makes more sense. I also think Mourinho is yet to completely deploy the tactic he will adopt with this side and is still using preseason to pick out the weeds. He actually said in his post-match conference today something along the lines of 'building individual form' rather than building up the team because so many players are still out.

This is why I've always wanted Jose. He knows what he needs and will have 2/3 players lined up. Whereas our last two managers seemed more concerned with landing their number 1 target and not considering other players.

I think we will sign Pogba but if the worst was to happen I've no doubt an adequate alternative will be lined up, in this instance, Matuidi.
 
CdS also reporting that Napoli are interested in Bacca as Higuain edges closer to a Juve deal.
 
You can smell Madrid coming a mile off. I'm giving this thread a miss for a couple of days i think, i don't want my weekend being spoiled.

If Higuain is really off to Juventus, I would presume a deal is near completion for Pogba to United.
 
Spanish media now picking up Madrid making a move on Pogba. Not that anyone should panic. There is no reason to since we are so close to finalizing talks and we are only a matter of days from signing him.

Candena Ser reported that Pogba isn't a priority for them.

I believe they're reliable for Real Madrid news.

It all adds up and seems on the cards. Doesn't stop the anxiety in this thread though where there isn't much news flying around.
 
The moral of all this, is that no one knows anything, yet it's possible to be a professional knower of nothing, and presumably get paid a fair whack to write about what you don't know.
 
Might put some cash on Madrid coming in and swooping him up in a matter of hours while we dither with agent fees. Feels like the SAF era all over again.

Is there any other club is ready to match the 100m plus? Imo even if Madrid were ready to pay Juve this money they would've signed him by now. And even if Juve is going to renew his contract they won't offer him the wages we are offering, So maybe it's just about few more days and he is officially ours.

To be honest no. Last season i said to myself to try not to let this fecking club upset me anymore (i'm on tablets for depression and the last few Utd years haven't helped). I don't want to invest in this just to see Madrid swoop in and take him, just because we are fecking about over agent fees AGAIN.
No thankyou, no more ruined weekends.
 
Wen they sold Zidane they brought Nedved, Salas, Thuram and I think Buffon. So wouldn't be surprised if the confirmation of Huigiun and midfielder and probably someone else confirms the sale of Pogba.

TBF for most of this saga they've been reporting that Madrid weren't interested. Just interesting that they've suddenly changed tune. Still think he's ours if we hurry up and tie up the loose ends though.
