They pretty much did just that (minus the stingy Italian part) with DeGea last year.

Sat around all summer, knowing DDG wanted to go there, knowing we wouldn't have much choice with a year left on his contract, then never submitted a bid until just a few hours before the window closed.

Part of me wonders if it's intentional, so that they can look like they make an effort to appease certain fans/media. Or that they really think that they can snap their fingers and everyone runs to them.

In the end, I feel like it soured DDG on Madrid. I'd be pissed if some company that I wanted to work at was claiming for months that they wanted me to work their, only to wait until it was too late to make me an offer. It was a dick move to DDG, and this would be a dick move to Pogba. Hopefully the two of them discuss this and vow to always tell Madrid to shove it, when/if they come calling in the future.:D

Even if they have a fantastic relationship - the one thing about Madrid is you can't rely on them holding onto any manager for an extended period of time. If any player gives it even a little bit of thought won't be primarily for who the managers is over there - it will be the club.
 
It's clear as day that this is going to happen now. Any quotes about there being no contact are obviously bullshit.

I do not remember ever being so sure a move was happening as with Pogba/this thread.

Misdirection by Juventus already has people panicking. It's pretty obvious to me that Juventus are the ones who have been doing the media spin cycle here. I think we're in the final stages of negotiating the fee and Juventus are using the media to pressure us. Saying that Real Madrid are making a last push to sign Pogba or the transfer fee that Juventus will accept. Real have been out of the running for a while. You have their unofficial spokesman Ballague doing the media spin/damage control. There's also Marca with the same info. And now you have Marotta blatantly lying by saying that there has been no contact with us. Y'all need to chill and have some faith, it will happen. :drool:
 
You know when journalists were chasing Mourinho as he tried to get in to a car, and he fobbed them off with generic answers because he didn't want to talk? Many quotes you hear from CEO's and the like will be similar sorts of situations. It's just bellends with a microphone pestering people to try and get exclusives to post on twitter. Don't worry so much about everything you read in a tweet.
 
I think the quote is actually no contact between utd and Pogba and that pogba still hasn't requested to leave.
 
Well MARCA confirmed they haven't made contact.

It's all pointing towards it having been a Juve leak to get us to agree to their demands.
