This. I hope people who were against can see now that we wouldn't have got Pogba or Zlatan or even Micki if LVG has stayed or if we wouldn't have gotten Jose.

Madrid just signed the biggest kit deal in history, about 40% bigger than United's previous record. They have an undermarket shirt sponsorship deal which will expire in a couple years, after which they will probably get the biggest deal for that too. The new La Liga TV deal will help them in the long run by helping restructure the domestic market and by opening up a lot of relatively untapped opportunities to better market La Liga internationally, especially in South America. They may not tower over other clubs anymore but they are going to be fine financially and are not going to have trouble going toe-to-toe with the biggest EPL teams over expensive transfers.

I think the bottom line with this transfer is pretty simple: United and Madrid are comparably resourced teams. United want and need Pogba more than Madrid, for both on-the-field and off-the-field reasons. United are therefore willing to pay considerably more.

If Jose was signed straight after SAF's retirement, I reckon these past three years would have gone the complete opposite way. We'd probably be champions right now, on top of this window.
 
Please can we leave all of the Madrid nonsense out of here? It's so damn boring seeing essays written on the subject - take it to a Real Madrid thread so most of us can choose to avoid it?

Just read the article by Bilel ghazi, Here are some main points-
  • Pogba will join united for 120 million euros
  • Agreement with juve and Pogba
  • The parties will sit together to discuss the formalization of the move( I guess paperwork)
  • Pogba will imminently become the highest transfer player in the world.
