we are a while yet away from confirmationThe deal is done. I dont want pointless updates.. Just waiting for the confirmation.
I hope he trolls us all by saying we are his dream club and he always wanted to return.
That's an interesting theory to be fair.
Why is Griezmann worth £100m but not Pogba? Just want to know your thinking? Going by the discussions in the last two pages, Griezmann aint world class, he didnt make the World XI, he isnt the best striker, he isnt the best #10, he isnt as marketable as Pogba yet one is worth £100m and the other is not? Who makes up these numbers to say one player is worth this much while the other is not?
Exactly. It will actually help us in the long term because it will jack up market inflation and send transfer fees for top players even higher, narrowing the circle of clubs that can actually pay them.
A lot of journalists will have a lot to answer for if this doesn't happen now.
So far, Griezmann has bottled it in two major finals.@Drz I didnt say Griezmann wasnt a top 10 attacking player. I was referring to the discussions in the previous thread about posters talking about players and judging based on them being a top XI player. I didnt he isnt among the best. I said he isnt the best. There is a difference. And you're claiming Pogba hasnt "done anything" but doesnt that apply to Griezmann as well? What has he accomplished so far?
A players value is mostly derived from his marketability and not his performances. Obviously players mostly become marketable due to their performances on the pitch but in this case, Pogba is one of the most marketable players in the world and that's why we are talking £100m +. It's no more complex than that really. It is my personal opinion. I prefer the way Griezman plays his football, the awareness he displays when surrounded by the opposition. The level of pressing he provides for a number 10. The fact that he proved despite a rather slight frame that he is also capable of playing up-top as a lonely false-9.
The fact that he actively contributed to getting his national team and his club team to the final of major competitions. His first touch, decision making, finishing when one on one.
All those elements make him superior to Pogba in an attacking midfield position in my opinion.
There are very few players that I could consider worth 100mil: Lewandoski, Suarez, Messi, CR7, Neymar and Griezman.
I find your reasoning absolutly flawed, and I'd speculate that you spend more time reading about football than watching it.
So let's take this step by step :
- Griezman isn't in a top 11, but just in the uefa 11 for the euros. Pogba isn't. Rojo made the world cup 11, so that shows that this measuring stick is flawed.
- If Griezman isn't amongst the best #10/ strikers / attacking players in the world. Then what does that make Pogba? a player that displays lesser ability/ aggression/ creativity/ passing accuracy/ maturity?
- Pogba is not worth 100mil, but the price is inflated by our nonsensical desperate need to make a marquee signing, compounded by a rather gutteral level of journalism and reporting devoid of critical thinking that essentially consists of being the first to blow a trumpet and the first to throw said trumpet under the bus. Being right, wrong or capable of an objective view point is pretty much immaterial.
- We are talking about over 100 million; a hundred million; 100,000,000 for a player that has proven nothing. It should not take a rocket-scientest to put that figure and what we are getting into context, regardless of who makes these prices.
I do not wish to dampen the expectation and some clear enthusiasm for this signing, but this achieves nothing but setup a marketing coup to show our financial muscle.
Pogba will only truly be rated once competitive football kicks-off again, I hope it goes better for him than the last competitive games he was involved in.
Cheers.
So according to the Juve "tier list" Romeo Agresti would be in the top 3 for transfer rumours.

There is another meeting today, where Juve will demand the 120m euros. Pogba wants to go to MUFC. If Romeo Agresti is somewhat reliable. We could get an answer today.
You don't set a new world transfer record in an hour! What I really don't get is how the hell it can take several days to settle for a price. It's something that should be doable in a meeting within an hour.
So what happened yesterday? United made a formal offer of ~£85m but Juve said that they want £100m. All that should be done in a 30 second conversation.

They are not negotiating about 10 quid. Big money at stake. What I really don't get is how the hell it can take several days to settle for a price. It's something that should be doable in a meeting within an hour.

He is the one from team Di Marzio!I keep thinking he is DiMarzio.

So many nitty gritty details to go over in a contract. It aint as simple as they make it seem in Football Manager. What I really don't get is how the hell it can take several days to settle for a price. It's something that should be doable in a meeting within an hour.

Don't think so. Not on FM at least and they tend to get those things right. It would have been ever better if he was classified as home grown. He missed it by a year didnt he?
Oh really? That's awesome. Did not know he had it in him like that. There was a stat posted earlier in the thread that Pogba wins the ball back in the final third more than any other player in Europe. Or he's in the top 3, something like that.
In which industry does in take hours to sell a £100m asset? What I really don't get is how the hell it can take several days to settle for a price. It's something that should be doable in a meeting within an hour.

Even the payment terms themselves will have huge financial implications. They are not negotiating about 10 quid. Big money at stake.

Exactly, all they need to do is hit Continue however they need to ensure they save the game.
I think we will hear something tonight as a lot of it will be formalities considering how long we have spent preparing for this deal.It seems like the official meeting between the 2 clubs is today.
United sent Raiola to table an initial bid of €100m. I think was purely a formality - we expected it to get rejected so we can get the counter-offer.
The counter offer will be met today and an agreement will be reached.
Expect this to be done by this day next week. Depends how long it takes to complete paperwork and technicalities.
