Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Possibly, but I don't think it's the positional changes that have caused that, I think it's the tactical changes. Without writing a novel it's not about Pogba position but his freedoms within the system so as long as he gets freedom to join in the attack with someone like schiderlin covering then he will be able to find his best form even with Rooney. Who would you prefer to play that role? Honestly I think Pogba is perfect for what we need.

Rooney isn't good enough as a #10. he can't play on the turn. he can't play in tight areas. He can't play the ball off players to create his own chances.

Euros have also made it clear that he's no attacking midfielder. He's a second striker. And Jose didn't play Remy, who is a very good second striker, so i doubt he'd entertain Rooney for long. His flaws are clear. In the modern game, a #10 needs tremendous ball control and vision. Rooney lacks both.

You don't sign a £100mil player and limit him just for the benefit of Wayne Rooney

Mourinho is the last manager I'd expect to do this. And no, Rooney is a much worse player than people on this forum will try and make people believe. If given a chance I'm certain he will fail to perform outside a few instances his supporters will cling onto. He has shown throughout his career he can't be relied upon for an entire season, and his wages are astronomical to be a squad player. As someone's said Pogba would be on less wages than Rooney, despite being the most expensive player in the world!

Rooneys days are numbered.

On topic though, feels good beating Madrid to a player. Woodward you beautiful man.
Prepare to be disappointed then because professional managers, coaches and pundits still believe that Rooney is a top class player for a reason. He's not the player he was but he's still one of our best players and could well regain top form in a functioning team which I think we will get next season. Pogba will be bought for the attributes that he has that we lack, power, pace, creativity etc and they are set to complement what we already have which like it or not includes Rooney.

 I'm not saying he's not aware of what the terms are. Please learn how to read and comprehend. You can find terms acceptable without actually signing off on a transfer.
Di Marzio has already said terms were agreed with POGBA. And how can he agree terms and not sign off on the transfer, that doesn't even make sense.

This surely all but confirms it? unless other clubs start taking interest, but who could outbid us at this point?

Pretty sure they're just using what Ballague said to get that. And Juve can still tell us to feck off even if it's true Madrid aren't involved.

Hahah balbag there is just so bitter that Manchester United is now the most powerful club on the planet and that the limeight will start to shine on the primer league more than the Spanish league he can't take it! And he knows with us making a signing like Pogba we'll be back at the top! Give it a year or two the Spanish dominance in Europe will be no longer!

Lol I know , la liga only had two teams in CL final and neither were barca , all three of those clubs would batter the Feck out of any team in the prem. Hmm lets see , so it's all about the money. Don't you love modern football. And the prem has had money for ages but scouting players hasn't been their forte so............................

who? who believes that? Jose mocked him as a midfielder. Couldn't even decide what his positon was. 9? 10? 9 1/2? He said he'll have to find out.

What kind of a top class player has so much uncertainty around him?

Rooney has proven in his career that he has those attributes and can play the number 10 role. A fit and firing Rooney is still a great player that provides a team with much needed goals and assists. As I've said numerous times, everyone will be in for a shock if they think Rooney isn't first name on the team sheet.

If Juve reject this deal, i really hope it doesn't devolve into a "ramos chase" scenario. I'd imagine jose has numerous back up targets in mind and we'll act quickly; but if Juve reject 120-130m euros then feck'em.

And people laugh at all our noodle sponsorships etc

Laugh at this you ABU cnuts!

Have they quoted Ballague? don't think they're using him at all. Plus, Juventus will not say no to the money we're reportedly willing to pay.

Been writing here for days now that Madrid wasn't going to go all out for him. The usual media circus and endless press on the player they usually do (like for Bale, Ronaldo and Zidane back in the day) just wasn't there.

Happy that the English press found out about it (weeks later though). Even happier that we land such a top player. And he's only 23!

Saw this on rawk following the news that Madrid had pulled out:

some bitter scouser said:
Didn't think they were in it personally. If they really wanted him, they'd get him, especially with Zidane being coach

Guess this is how they will console themselves if we do get him :)

when was Rooney a #10? Rooney was a second striker under SAF in a 4-4-2. He was a #9 under Moyes. And LVG moved him all over the pitch to no benefit.

Yes, goals help the team, but if Ibra and Martial provide those goals, with Miki and Pogba chipping in, we don't need Rooney's goals.

Jose identified our weaknesses like he did at Chelsea, where he needed goals and assits, so he bought Costa and Fabregas. Here, we also lacked goals and assists, so he bought Ibra and Miki.

We don't need Rooney. End your Stockholm syndrome with the ginger beast.

I'm not fussed about him costing £100m+, or his wages. His undoubted quality aside, his commercial marketability - as an individual player, a Man Utd player, and as a player in the EPL - more than makes up for it. The club's commercial arm will squeeze every last drop of value from him, plus more. The added bonus is that we get to slap Real Madrid down again (De Gea being the other occasion), and we put down a serious statement of intent to our domestic rivals.

Again, if we really put ~120 mln euro on the table, Juve must be absolutely nuts to reject it and I can't see them doing it. Given all the 'hehe lol united pay too much lool RM not cray' propaganda bullshit spewed by Ballbag in recent days biggest questionmark for me was over Pogba himself, if he wants to come that is. Since Di Marzio says says that he's agreed personal terms with us I guess it's happening.

All this talk about Rooney. Personally I don't want him starting either but I have to accept that in all likelihood he will do so. However, on a slightly more positive note I do have a reasonable degree of confidence that this will only be the case in the early games and that if Rooney's form drops to the kind of standards we have seen in the past couple of seasons then Mourinho will promptly drop him. Hopefully this isn't wishful thinking.

Its not the 1960's anymore, technology exists today for people to keep in touch with each other without being in the same room.

Logically, you are right.
But for whatever reason, in football, they still use Fax machines.
So it wouldn't surprise me if the player's and agents only talk on a landline or in person.

Sure we are favourites to sign him but don't get cocky, Juventus can just tell us to feck off and if Pogba won't push for the transfer that'll be it.

I really really hope they'll accept though, he'd be a huge signing and it'll probably mean end to Rooney's career as playing Pogba in a 2 man midfield is just stupid..

No they haven't quoted him but he works for Sky and it's exactly what he said yesterday on 5 Live.

Have Juventus made many moves in the transfer market already? IMHO it'll depend on whether they've got their targets already and whether they have the cash to get them before selling Pogba.

One things for sure, they won't want to be buying after they've sold Pogba because every club will know they're armed with 100M and prices will go up

Rooney has played number 10, just because he doesn't play it like Ozil doesn't mean he hasn't played the role. In football you can never throw away the most valuable commodity and that is goals and to a lesser degree assists. Rooney has always provided good numbers and they will certainly rise in a better system and surrounded by players of quality like Pogba, ibra and Mkhitaryan. I just don't understand the complete and utter disregard of Rooney as if he's our worst player when he's not even close. Rooney will play tho, of that I have absolutely no doubt and I think he will improve under Mourinho.

I really can't see juve rejecting 100m for a player. I love Pogba and can't wait to see him back, but let's be honest he's not messi. They would be foolish to reject 100m considering that's like what a 5th of their overall worth? It will set them financially for years and years.

Would be nice if we could out muscle them in the future and all. We've got the money...

It's all about the manager, IMO.
Last year, we had plenty of cash to splash, but as LVG stated - the top players do not want to join us.
I think the Galactico class players were simply terrified to play under LVG.
Mourinho comes in (no CL football) and appears to be signing all his targets.
Had LVG been here, DDG would be gone and there would be no way on this planet that Pogba (or any other Galactico class player) would join.

United 1 - Real and Ballbag 0
2 0, after keeping DDG .
Madrid seemed always to get what they want specifically when it comes to money. Signing Pogba back with this kind of money makes lots of things change really.

Cant wait till next week and the euro dust settles. Our Pogs is coming home lads!!! We are gonna be such a force again. United is finally doing what they should have post fergie!!

So them landing Bale and taking Ronaldo off of us never happened yeah?

Fair enough. As full of shit Sky sometimes are, I don't think they'd put their neck out this much over information that might not be true. If Madrid come out and launch a bid now they'll look like right knobs.

A £85m for Paul Pogba is insane. I can't see them turning it down.

A sexy manager makes a difference, true. But I suspect it's easier to make Juventus an offer they can't refuse than...say Bayern or Barca.
