Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

The post was going so well..

Pick any two £50,000,000 players of your choice then, or any one alternative - my worry is that I have this horrible feeling Pogba is about as keen to join United as Di Maria was. I know a lot of it is just media hype, but I just don't have a good vibe about this. I could just be a pessimist though! ;)

I hope he confirms what he's doing fast. Don't want another saga ruining the transfer window for us.

Will he improve us? Yes.
Will he improve us tremendously? Yes.
Can he be here for the next 10 years? Yes.
Will be bring in large commercial revenue? Yes.
Is his ceiling high?Yes.
Potential to be one of the best in his positions? Yes.
Will Juve sell below 60m? Unlikely.
If Juve sells below 60m, will other clubs compete? Almost certainly.
We paid 65m for Di Maria, is Pogba worth at least that? Highly likely.
Is Pogba reaching end of his contract? No.
Can we afford a high fee? Yes.
Can we reduce the outlay offsetting with player sales? Yes.
Does this increase our chances to win league and be in CL again? Yes.

Don't see why we should balk at 80-100m?

What are the other alternatives already at his level of abilities and are attainable?

You left out - Does he really want to be here?

It's not so simple as to say it's a circus. The most we ever spent on a player was what we paid for Di Maria. Most clubs would be tempted at that price. However, if we went for Kane, Lukaku etc - other clubs would probably ask for more and they are not as good as Di Maria (even though he was a weak player). How many people heard of Bailey? Or that young Mexican we're talking too? So maybe you need a little perspective. Was Blind a big name? Rojo?

I'm only critical of that stance on potential transfer policy that I quoted. We are a big club, but still in phase of transition.

Most clubs would have went for Falcao and we smartly got him on loan - rather then buying out right. We got Bastian for relatively cheap. Zlatan on a free. People tend to overrate the direction of the club. It's simple. If we want the next Bale and more importantly - if we want to regain our respect then we have to put our money where our mouth is.

We don't have to prove our position and regain 'respect' by getting rid of humongous piles of money. To win on the pitch we need new acquisitions, that won’t come at small cost, but they don't have to be record breaking fees. Take Martial's transfer - £36m rising to £58m based on appearances, goals etc. That’s a decent bit of business. Have a look at Bayern. They do dominate their local market and reap rewards for being the capital of German football but they sustain their status also by operating smartly. Buying most hyped players for crazy sums isn’t a wise strategy.

I wouldn't have been excited about Ibramovich had we signed him. Nor would I have high hopes for Martial eclipsing or getting anywhere near Henry if he played for us. Pogba though, would be an absolute dream. He has every attribute to become a Ballorn d'or winner. He would improve any team in the world except for Barcelona. It would be the first instance of a world class player joining the Premier League with his best years ahead of him.

I don't understand how trying to sign the best players and build the best team can be described as being a circus. There's nothing embarrassing about showing ambition.

By trying to sign best players at any cost for most positions in an attempt to build the best team you basically become an entity comparable to Man City and Real. And I would have a problem with that.

Some of you are seriously underrating Ibra. I think he will prove a lot of people wrong in the coming season.

Where are we doing that?

We've just signed a 34 year old on a free transfer, a centre half who most people hadn't heard of and seemingly a player who while in good form for Dortmund, is hardly a massive name.

Typical whinging from fans who are never happy. Don't sign the best players, they moan. Try to sign quality players, they still moan. I don't understand it personally. If the manager deems any player worth s particular fee that's good enough for me.

I am optimistic, think we can pull this off. The price will be huge for some, but i dont care, we need him and we need to win titles.

If he doesn't want to be here he wouldn't have to. Juve don't want to sell him so it's not like Di Maria where he was forced out.
I don't know why every transfer we make or even potentially make has to compared to a previous failure.

It's the same as Mkhitaryan and Kagawa comparisons that i saw loads just because they came from the same team.

Some transfers work some don't for a number of factors. Personality and in most cases not being played in the correct positions high on the list.

United is a big draw for a lot of player's, being out of the CL might be a factor or they may think it is only fornone season.

It's not like Spurs, Liverpool or Leicester that they haven't been consistently in it.

If Pogba had no interest, we would have no interest, as we would know from his agent. Doesn't mean he will come, but if there is a chance then we should pursue it, but we obviously need some sort of deadline to go for other targets if he isn't coming here.

It's only just July.

Of course it's a huge price and he's not worth it. There's no saying we'll definitely win even if we buy all of the world's best players. Leicester won the PL last year because they had a "bonded" team and worked their butt off for each other. That's what wins titles. That and a good manager.

There's no smoke without fire. Woodward wants a big one it's so obvious. Didn't land Muller last season but it was confirmed we had a world record bid. This is the big one. It's either Real Madrid or back home with us.

Woodward's always missed out on his "big one" each summer so far. He is going to Madrid. I dunno why people are getting their hopes up, Madrid pretty much always get what they want player wise and they have Zidane to influence his decision

I think he's going to Madrid to but I'm beginning to think there might be something in it now. Madrid do have Kroos and Modric already. If they do get Pogba I'd like to have Kroos from off them if that's the case.

So while we're at it lets throw £80 million for Toni Kroos, £60 million for Laporte and £200 million for Neymar and complete the metamorphosis into the Newest Biggest Circus.

Why not? Oh right yeah....we are Utd...we don't do that do we? Except for the last 25 years or so we have broken pretty much every UK transfer record at some point!

If you want to continue going in half arsed for players like Mata, Herrera and Schneiderlin then look forward to being Liverpool before too long

I don't suppose we had a sell on clause whdn we let him go to Juventus, did we?

It's strategy of a toddler in a sandbox. Oddly enough some people have such perception of Woodward...

UK transfer records aren't equal to world records. There is also a difference between using financial muscle in particular cases and opening a bulkhead of cash stream to get what the little brat wants.

I have no issue smashing the world transfer record for a talent like Pogba. Much better use of money than spending tens of millions on crap like Felliani and Rojo

I'm not sure whats the fuss. We have a need for a CM that can make something happen from midfield and he fits the bill. The price doesn't matter if we could afford it.

In the past we couldn't afford to buy these superstars let alone compete for their signatures. It's only in the past 10+ years that we and the other English clubs are able to afford the worlds best players. Remember Batistuta? SAF wanted him but we couldn't afford his wages.

Now that we are on similar footing with the likes of Real etc, is it a surprise that we flexed our muscle now and then?

We're all here talking about whether Pogba is overrated or not while the real issue in this thread is how this Glaston fellow is overrating Spurs and its players
He is a troll mate, he disappears from the forum when season starts and spuds lose games left and right

Lots of the story coming from Duncan castles who seems tight with Mendez, but Pogba is a Mino client so you would guess that Mendez would prefer the big united world record signing to be one of his clients. Wierd dynamic anyone any thoughts on that? Usually when Castles pushes something hard it is because Mendez wants it to happen

United willing to pay whatever it takes is good, but in the end I still think Pogba would rather stay at Juve than come to United. What I'm more interested in is who we have in mind if we don't get Pogba. In my view Pogba can play a number of different midfield roles to a very high standard which is why we want him so badly. We could go for other targets who'd fulfill a specific roles but they couldn't do it all like Pogba could.

It's good for his client Jose if we sign Pogba. These agents are probably all buddies anyway.

Can someone kindly post exactly what we know on this situation and who has reported it?

Or is it just rumours? Is Di Marzio involved?

Us pulling it off is not an issue, United have the money and will break the transfer record, give him 250k a week....this whole deal hinges on what Pogba wants..

Baffling how anyone can think he would rather stay at Juve than come to us.

He will get a huge pay rise.

His global profile will explode.

His dad has already said he wants to play in a better league. The PL is shaping up as the most competitive league in Europe.

He always speak extremely highly for United and says he misses Manchester.

Only question is will Real make him a better offer.

there are a lot of reports but a big part of it (as i was just discussing above) is Duncan Castles who posts stories at the bidding of mendez (who is mourinhos agent). So you can bet mourinho wants the story out there and on the agenda very regularly. Question might be why.

Some other club journos have posted stories that he is high priority too. I believe from the right journos making the right noise that he is high priorty. But none of the right journos are making any noise around a bid being accepted or anything similar. Sounds like there are negotiations going on for sure but we are likely far apart and Juve are hoping he does something good in the final few games of the euros before they reveal their position.

Then question is whether pogba wants to come here at all which will follow. I'm sure he'll sit at the table for a discussion but might have his heart set elsewhere

Too many people judging him on the basis of Euros. He has been class in Seria A and Champians League. I'd gladly pay 100 mil for him. Why pass on the opportunity to get potentially one of the best CM's in the world just because of 30-40 mil quid? we have spunked so much cash on mediocre rubbish like Fellaini and Rojo. Quality over quantity
Maybe I'm just old-school but the thought of spending 100M on one player doesn't really excite me. I guess transfer fees are inflating at a faster rate than I can keep up with.

Pulling off i included Pogba wanting to come here, which there is a good chance.

People keep going on about Duncan Castles but isnt he the City fan who alwys talks shit about us?, he's probably trolling us
