Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

When has Pogba disrupted the dressing room? Please point me to where you got this information.

All reports say otherwise by the way:

“Rangnick valued Pogba’s efforts to mediate aspects of the dressing room. He was also one of the players to command major respect from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Pogba gave encouragement to centre-back Harry Maguire whose final touch had been to clear the ball into the stands. “We have to believe in ourselves,” Pogba said. “You’re an £80 million player for a reason.”

On another occasion, when a meeting of some players with Rangnick about form turned unexpectedly into a targeted tactical discussion, Pogba went back later to apologise to United’s interim manager for the way things had gone.”

He was seemingly one of the few trying to keep the dressing room together
Source of those "quotes"?

Must admit I can't bring myself to dislike Pogba. A man of immense talent but such a waster. I like him though, he was an inspiration when he brought the dab to my attention... Something I enjoyed doing for an hour a few years ago.

In fact I'm doing the dab right now in honour of his time here.

Not sure if serious but same.

The only player since Di Maria and then probably Nani before him where I got genuine little boy delight from the sheer skill, flair, athletic prowess and technique. Shame it was too inconsistent and too little from all the names mentioned but I can't help but have a soft spot for those beautiful body feints, shimmies, first touches etc.

It's kind of why I have vain hope Rashford will rediscover his form. He's not as refined but during that 18 months of form, he had that spark that was fun to watch.

Glad it's ended because it just didn't work for both parties. Oh well.

We go againnnnnnn.

I’m sick of seeing his name on here , please let it stop, he’s gone thank feck.

move on

100% this.
Thank goodness we won't have the constant tedium about haircuts, which 3 or 4 players around him he needs to play well, missing 4months every season injured, always missing most of the City/Liverpool games for assorted reasons, and just generally being the poster boy for our mad recruitment.

And I spent about 4 years thinking he was quality. But finally grew tired of it all.

So now roundly hated by United supporters and frowned upon by a huge section of the football world. Well done. Complete lack of self-awareness mixed with Peter Pan syndrome.

People still defending this embodiment of failure and Woodwards Disneyland

I am definitely not going to watch this shit of his, just enrage me further! Riola may be dead and I’m sorry for that but he was a leech and filled Pogs head with full of crap. Pogba had been a failure and I’m delighted he is gone.

Again, my question was - “what has he done wrong here?” Are you that dense that you keep conflating that with “I don’t know why people are annoyed?”

For clarification - you initiated the name calling here simply because you’re struggling with something simple, despite my appeals at objectivity.

What has he done wrong? How about describing an offer of £300k per week as United doing nothing to keep him? You don't think it's wrong but others do. Also, you're the one who said that people are annoyed at his conduct because they are unhappy with their own lives.

Anyway, I don't really care anymore. You can continue to feel that Pogba's words were fine and others can feel differently about that. Your opinion is not objective as much as you continue to label it as such.

SAF words of no player should be bigger than the manager comes to mind. Jose was right that Pogba is the virus. The entitlement he has just shows how thick he is, if he cant understand that he hasnt performed to earn an even bigger contract than 300k. Now he has something to prove against the injustice.
Ideally he should have been packed out of United by last summer if he is not signing extension. The writing was on the wall, Ole is at fault to not do that. Later Rangnick was a sitting duck so had no power to do anything.

Hell be in for a hot reception after that documentary the next time he comes to OT with Juve.
Hope Juventus will drop out of the group stage so we can have that vengeance in the Europa League knockout stage.

What a bellend, anyway. He's the epitome of what is wrong with footballers nowadays.

From Athletic, two quotes that shows what he is all about. Good riddance.

There is a disconcerting line from Rafaela Pimenta, the lawyer Raiola entrusted with so much of his business both before and since his death. “Pogba is something we built,” she says. “It’s a brand. It has emojis, it has Pogmojis, it has cups. He has shows, he has haircuts and we hope to entertain people with that.”

The importance of a player’s brand is obvious these days, but… “Pogba is something we built”? Wow.

Again it is all about status, profile and image. “You have to use your image,” he tells his former France team-mate Matuidi as they chat on a yacht off the coast of Florida. “The Americans get it. They got it long ago. Your image is your value. Use your image, use your value. You created it.”
“My performance on the field is the basis of my image,” he says at another point.

But over recent years, since the World Cup victory, the hype has far outweighed the substance. Some will say similar of The Pogmentary but that would not be entirely fair. There is insight — even if it is less about Pogba and more about the Pogba machine.

This reminds me of Don King around Mike Tyson back in the day - just it’s Mino and Pogba.

Blowing smoke up his arse, telling him he is the greatest, deflecting all negativity and being absolutely driven by cash and commission - the sense of delusional entitlement is fully encapsulated in him making this Pogumentry.

Any absolute twat of the highest order. How we have pandered to this numpty for this long is shocking.

However great that he is going to be getting nearly 50% less that the derisory amount we offered is karma.

A show pony for the slow Italian league. Good bloody riddance.

He has to go down as one of the least popular United players among United fans. Or maybe it's just my age kicking in, I don't know. Perhaps kids, teenagers and college students are big fans? I even heard rumors about it not being uncommon to start supporting a new club once your favorite player leaves. That would have been unthinkable in the 90's and 00's.

What i will never understand about fans of Pogba is the actual HYPE
Ive never met a player that some say is world class based on some flicks and tricks that actually happens once in 20 games

It's pretty foolish he agreed to release this before he had actually gotten his next contract from the new club. He will surely be ridiculed when it turns out to be a fraction.

Really interested to hear what those who have defended him in so dedicated a fashion have to say about this. @....

I cannot believe people are still defending this guy, it's so perplexing. It could come out that he's a multiple murderer and some would still try and spin a positive out of it on here.

I’ve defended Paul on here but he can eat a bag of rocks after this crap.

Also he has either 0 ambition by going back to Juve, or there was 0 demand for him. Either way, he really “showed Manchester” idiot.

We actually offered him 300K/week? That’s been verified?
from Athletic:
They did offer him a new contract, though. They made at least two offers worth more than the existing £290,000-a-week deal that had already made him one of the best-paid players in the Premier League.

And Pogba, for whatever reason, responded to Raiola’s revelation of their second offer last July by saying the club had offered him “nothing”.

I have to admit that he is 300K/week (or more) player - but only if he plays to his potential (only 20% of games). So yes, it's great news that he left.

He has the drive and determination of a wet fart to prove anybody wrong. He seemed to come across as an intelligent guy, does he not realise how these snippets make him look?

He's not a Manchested united player anymore yet still people are crying? move on with your lives.

I'm sure we did last summer, when things looked good. Probably even after Ole was fired. If Ralf did nothing else, he seems to have convinced our leaders that Pogba isn't worth keeping.

I am confused. So did we offer him 300k or not, or does he think 300k offer is nothing, or we did actually offer him nothing?

Not much to know what Juve's offer compare to United's. Basic wage is only part of the equation. There are bonuses, adds on, image right, signing fee, and contract length to consider.

It reminds me of those stats that showed Joe Allen as one of the best CM in the world, just by picking on certain aspects only.

It's typical of Pogba really. Just a media circus and attention seeking all the time, instead of focusing on his actual performances. I'm glad he didn't end up signing our offer in the end, and we can finally move on from this guy. Though I'd imagine he will try to cash in a few more times on the United name.

Not really. Players value different things when moving. Some prefer the money, some prefer a good location, some prefer a good system and manager, some prefer statpadding trophies and so on. We don't know what players are thinking when moving and he talked about being depressed here at lots of points so I'm not surprised he prioritized his own mental wellbeing with this move.

And City and PSG are not any more proven in Europe than Juve are, even if they are better teams now. It's a club that knows how to win and doesn't take long to rebuild and construct winning teams.

At PSG he would just be another one of the stars but Juve sold him a project to become the face of the club. Plus the manager already knows how to use him and he is still appreciated by the fans, it's a no brainer.
Being the franchise player of Juventus > statpadding in France with farmer league accusations having over him.

And regarding City I have no doubt he was tempted by Guardiola but staying in Manchester and England wasn't worth it. Wasn't his house burgled just a few months ago? On the base of safety reasons and also the backlash he would relieve from our fanbase it made no sense. He was earning lots of money here but was still depressed, earning more money wouldn't have changed anything and I think he realized it. It doesn't mean anything about him not being able to play for a top team.
Poor guy, he was doing a Pogpression at United. He just need some Poglove from some Pogfan and Pogclub. He is just Pogdiculuss. I am happy he Pogout this club to be Pognest.

Pogba is both a world class player on his day and a waste of space and a cancer within the club. I think in the dressing room he is a nice guy and a professional but he is sneaky in the way he destroyed the club by letting his agents, brother etc say sht about United and also affected players close to him like Lingard to go against managers etc.

However I can see why he would say 300k is nothing. Its not nothing in the context of people are starving in the world. And even related to footballers its a decent wage. But in relationship to United when your keeper is on 375 and some new kid called Sancho is on 350 if you think you are a senior player that won a world cup and is world class then if Man Utd would really want to keep you they would have offered 400K plus. This would be normal for United. With every other player we have offered ridiculous wages that are uncalled for. You might say he's not worth it and he doesnt play enough. Agreed but 300k at United doesnt say we really want to keep you. At any other club it might. But not United. It just says your ok. You can stay but we arnt going all out to keep you. Which was right from a United perspective but I can see why Pogba would think otherwise.

Can you imagine him becoming this famous outside football without doing anything on the pitch at any other club?
He wouldn't have lasted 2 seasons at a decently run club with any self respect. Him and manutd were really a match made in heaven, from a marketing and commercial stand point for him. We had become a circus and he took the opportunity to become the lead clown.

Imagine someone who has done nothing of note since 4 years getting a documentary on Amazon, that wouldn't be possible at any other club. The guy didn't even have to work hard at his football to become a commercial success, and as much as his agents and team, I blame the club for letting it happen. It's so disappointing.

Whoever offered him that contract needs to be shipped out immediately. This is why it will take us years to get back to the top. The decision to let him leave should have been an easy one considering his performances over the years (lack of). But these fools thought it would be a good idea to give him a new deal with more money. Madness
