Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

Previously, I thought that he was likely to leave, but these comments have given me more hope. They've basically moved the needle to the middle. For it to swing in United's favour, I'm hoping to read some more updates on Pogba wanting to stay in the next few days/weeks.
There has to be a deadline. Sign or go. We just cannot take the risk of losing him on a free next year. Shouldn't happen.

Could have sworn he said something before our CL game last season, or does he literally mean only during the summer?

It was after those quotes. He did a very quick about turn in an interview with sky I think. It was pretty obvious Pogba had told him to stop with the comments and he backtracked on what he’d said about Ole.

A lot of our fans are very quick to say Riola only says what Pogba wants him to say, but are reluctant to accept that he was clearly told to back track on his comments. He later said he wasn’t allowed to talk about United.

Well, this just got interesting, I think Pogba might have overplayed his hand, if PSG - who let's be honest, probably wouldn't have been his first choice destination - sign Messi there's zero chance they move for him this summer.

If that happens I'd be very tempted to give him the ultimatum of either sign a new contract or run his deal down with no commitment on playing time, relegate him to a squad role, at best, and let him face the consequences of that.

That would be absolutely mental?! Why would we do that?

'Yeah we want you, so badly in fact, that if you don't sign, we're not playing you even when you're here, happy and playing well, HA! In your face!'

His option already is sign a contract or leave and he definitely doesn't have any commitment to playing time, no one in the squad does. So if he's not playing well, we won't play him, simple as.

And I'm sure there are teams/coaches who do this, but if Pogba is still turning in performances that staff are happy with, why would you not try and get the best out of him?

Having said that, maybe a bit hypocritical of me, but if it was someone like Bailly or Williams for example, then no one would bat an eyelid if the club did decided to do that. It's different with Pogba though (rightly or wrongly) because his upside is enormous in terms of ability and match winning ability AND crucially, he seems to be a positive influence on the dressing room.

Whatever the outcome, move this season, extend contract at United or run down his contract and whatever your views as him as a player ; I hope the fans and the media realise and portray him in a better light than previously done. He appears to have been extremely professional- conpare hime to Kane or Lukaku.
Yes his agent is a cnut and maybe Pogba pushes his agenda through Raiola.
However he seems loved by all at OT and seemed very happy at training. I would be absolutely fine with him starting at Leeds given the other absentees.

Calm down Martin Tyler. This isn't the "Super League" how can it be when it's not even a close title race most seasons.
 City have a squad where their second team would romp away with the title.
You’re both delusional. We dominated City head to head last year. We were ahead till we choked it. We are very close to City and will challenge again this year. We have strengthened in defense and attack. No more silly goals from corners and there is more creativity in attack. Our midfield is our weakest but we still have fighters in Fred and mctominay for the big games. All that talk of city’s second team winning the league is :wenger::wenger::wenger:. The only thing stopping us from winning just as much as City is injuries.

this is the super league considering Manchester United, Chelsea, City and Liverpool are currently top 6 teams in the world along with PSG and Bayern.

The only thing that stopped us from winning the title last season, was ourselves. Ole went into a press conference and even downplayed that we were in a title challenge.

We didn't challenge last season, we just came 2nd, best of a bad bunch from 2nd-6th, I fully expect a title challenge this season, otherwise Ole should be shown the door. He's been given time to build the squad he wants and been fully backed in transfer markets.

Now this is the right energy. Feck city we will beat them again. When you take in all those silly draws we had last year, Varane will hopefully correct that. They still don’t have a striker and I’m hoping Tottenham don’t bend. This is literally the year fells. Pogba need to think and stop listening to his dumb brothers and agent. This league is where all the action is at. There is Nothing is Spain or France for him.

Yes he said if he talks he’ll be in trouble. My point is he has clearly been told by someone and doesnt care

Messi leaving Barcelona could have a very big impact on United if he decides to sign for PSG. They won't be able to financially fit in Pogba ( not legally) and we will end up giving him a massive contract. Top teams have wisened up to him and I can only see Juventus moving for him next summer on a free transfer. No one else will offer him the wages he would like to earn.

No club will pay the fee that United would find acceptable in this transfer window. Therefor, he'll stay.
Think it's quite clear that Pogba won't sign a new contract, and I don't know why he would. In six months he can just handpick any club that wants him.

My bet is that he want's to play in Spain and I can see Real Madrid doing a PSG next summer and sign both Pogba and Mbappe as free agents.

If I was pogba I’d be embarrassed. Isn’t it funny how clubs go all out and find a way for players they actually want? He is just not that guy.

I mean, it's Lionel fecking Messi
Doesn’t change the point given pogba is a superstar and worldclass according to most. Why is nobody fighting to sign him these past 3 years? Even Juventus never sought him back and they’ve spent obscene amounts on past players like higuian. PSG might not even care if he signs a contract with us. It’s a case of he is a new shiny toy they can pick up for free next year. He is just not that guy that he thinks he is.

I mean clubs have come but United haven't budged in terms of their valuation.

Madrid were in for him under Zidane but they wouldn't pay triple figures. Juventus have wanted to sign him back for years according to their current and former club execs but they haven't been able to realistically afford him especially after allocating so many resources already towards having Ronaldo.

The interest has been there but not many clubs outside of the oil giants could afford him at the fee the club had set prior to the final year of his contract and you can look at the high valuation as a sign that the club itself was not interested in selling at any point.

Players generally don't do things like that as it's quite the dick move.

He and his agent know that with the right amount of pressure, United will bend backwards and give him a contract with silly salary. Don't think he will be overly worried.

Imagine losing him on a free twice. The second time after breaking our transfer record to sign him. :nervous:

Has any player ever burned so many bridges with fanbases? At this rate he's going to finish his career without a single club actually embracing him...because you'd assume everything won't be rosy at PSG, especially with a chunk of their fanbase already being against him.

Pogba is not a superstar. On the pitch or off the pitch. Even Salah is more marketable than Pogba

Not sure about others, but I don't hate him as such. If he goes for free, then its ok. We took a big punt and it did not work for a variety of reasons, some on our side and some on his.

Is it? Players have and will continue to leave on free transfers. We could try and force the issue of him being sold this window but all indications are that we don't want to sell him and we're willing to let him go on a free.

I don't understand why do people talk about PSG being able to afford something or it being financially feasible for them or not. There's no FFP and nothing is stopping the royal family to not fund the team.

Some do, sure, but it's usually the lesser-known players who won't command a huge transfer fee who do. Pogba doesn't fall into that category, he'll end up costing the club an absolute bomb by leaving on a free.

Oh ffs...

This is why I keep saying that the only choice should be cash in now or sign a new contract now. I hate it when a player doesn't know what he wants to do. I just wish player can act like Varane. Leaving or signs a new contract!!

Never going to be anything different happening than Pogba leaving us next summer. The only open question is to where.

People better get that into their heads and get over it. This is why people still want him sold.

The ball is firmly in Pogba's court, though.

United have offered to make him one of the highest-paid footballers on planet earth, yet he hesitates. What is he waiting for?

They aren't the only choices though are they? Nobody is bidding for him so we can't cash in and we can't physically force him to sign a contract.

If we lower our demand and Pogba tells his agent not to demand high agent fees then PSG will bid for him. Just like Varane and Real Madrid.

Annoying for us, absolutely.

Couldn't blame him wanting to play in the same team as Messi for a season or two though tbh. Potentially looking at Messi, Neymar and Mbappe with Pogba behind. Ouch.
They would get steamrolled by any top team. Absolutely zero running in that front four.

They would be an absolute terror for every backline in the world, they still have the likes of Di Maria and Veratti to feed them quality balls and Neymar and Messi are still very much in their primes. Mbappe hasn't even hit his yet

This Raiola were talking about. Plus the club might feel confident of getting him to sign a new contract during the season if we're doing well.

Pogba has the power to tell Raiola what to do and what he wants, the player is the boss, the client not the agent. By January, other clubs are free to talk with Pogba directly to sign him for free in the next summer. It’ll be too late if you expect to wait until we are doing well mate.
